Well, I've been getting into No Wave and Avant-Garde music lately, like JG Thirlwell, James Chance, and the Residents.

But I listen to tons of Black Metal & Punk as well.

If you like Devendra Banhart, consider his grandmaster, Tyranasaurus Rex. People pointed out to Devendra that he sounded like this guy from the 60's, and he was amazed.

I don't think I fit into genres, but rather a form of music.

My musical tastes are pretty broad. I dip into old and aged music at times with artists like Louie Prima. I have extensive amounts of Beatles music and some other classic rock like Pink Floyd or Iron Maiden or Bob Dylan. I do love Radiohead and as you progress further and further into rock you find me liking bands like Paramore, Muse, Cage the Elephant, Broken Social Scene, etc. As you mull around in the rock area, Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto comes to mind. As you get into metal, you'll find Blind Guardian, Nightwish, and In This Moment. As you get into harsher metal, you'll hit Amon Amarth, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Finntroll, and even Gorgoroth, a very black metal band. (I hardly ever listen to their music though. Curious...)


Little rap is found, but I have found the occasional, though rare, "good" song in that area.
I like fast paces and large scores. I don't care for short, simple songs, so a lot of that pop stuff is out the window.

tl;dr, I don't have a genre, I just like fast-paced and longer music.

I prefer the "harsher" side of metal. Of course everyone has their own taste, and I grew into it. Gorgoroth, Dark Funeral, Darkthrone, Immortal, Amon Amarth (especially for Tolkien lovers), Burzum, Mayhem, and so on... Great stuff!

I used to say that I predominantly listen to Indie and Avant-Garde music, but these labels have become rather large blankets...
Like many, I have a broad range of tastes. Ranging from:

Progressive/ Acid House
And very rarely Nu-Metal

I only really ever listen to Dance/Electronic music. Most of it is the kind of awful stuff that I should probably feel ashamed about listening to, but I never really have. I get that people will never see eye to eye on anything like music, and it really irritates me when people don't see this and feel the need to criticize me. So yes, I listen to all those commercial DnB and Dubstep artists, and I don't really mind if you dislike them.
