Could i play it too.
hello,
I'm Undead(-)Necro and I was (am since a week or 3) very active on tes oblivion but I never played morrowind.
My question is "are the graphics/gameplay of morrowind so outdated that I wouldn't enjoy playing it anymore?

Morrowind isn't outdated at all, with a decent graphics card and a few visual enhancements you'd swear you're playing oblivion, and the gameplay is even better, however you should expect the game to be a bit... different.Undead(-)Necro wrote:hello,

If you can deal with a lil worse graphics, then you will love the extra depth that comes with Morrowind.
I have seen oblivion and it just cant compare to Morrowind. Everyone here will agree with me on this.
Oblivion in my own opinion, is alot like fable, while Morrowind....is just Morrowind!
The replayability in Morrowind is ecstatic compared to oblivion. Do what you want, when you want, wherever you want.
Actually, ive been a long time player, but had to stop do to the xbox crashing, picked one up yesterday and saw oblivion for the low price of 30 bones, i was thinkin about gettin it, but i was like hell! i can just play Morrowind for free, and it will be alot more fun!
Basically how much is a used Morrowind? like 10-15 bones. You cant go wrong with a price like that, and its ten times better, trust me.
*edit* Yes it has the console...

I've downloaded a demo and i've come to the conclusion that the graphics aren't that outdated and that the fighting system is really weird. I don't know about this. I'll try playing it for a few days extra but i don't think I'm gonna like this

Weird? if you dont like having to move in a certain direction to do an attack, theres an option in the options menu that lets you always use your best attack.
I remembered the first time i played the game, i didnt like the fighting system either.....i couldnt hit anything(I was a mage, using a long sword with no skill points in long sword)

Yes, I did, and they were all file sharing = Illegal.
That was what Rohugh meant. There is no "Legal" Morrowind Demo. If there was a "Legal" download, then he would know about it, if anyone does.
http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/media_movies.htm
That is the only legal place to get downloads, as far as I know. The one exception is downloads purchased via direct2drive. The key there, is Purchased.
Now if by chance, you did find a "Legal" place to download a Morrowind Demo, then please post the link where you got it from. Otherwise, you have Illegal Pirated Software. That is "Strongly" Against Forum Rules.
I am tired of having to go over this all the time. I do not care what your beliefs are on this subject. My beliefs on this subject do not matter either. What does matter is that it is against the Forum Rules to discuss it. Whatever you do at your own home, with your own computer, or console, is your own business. It does not get discussed here.

Thats because it takes a while to increase your fighting skills (like shortsword, blunt weapon etc.). Every attack is based on chance. This determines whether you hit your target or not. The higher your skill level, the higher your chance of dealing damage. At the start it is very annoying as you have very low skills but eventually it will become rare to miss when your skills get high enough.

ok i had that problem too when i first played the game. later on however with propper character creation you can make a cgharacter with major skill in something for example marksmanship. add a race to that with bonus in that skill and propper sign and you will end up starting with character who has 30+ in marksmanship. this is enough to more or less hit things.
all you now need is restore fatigue potions and you are good to go.
same goes with other weapons. once you get them over about 30 you are hitting them quite well (at leats easier oponents).
problem is because people (like me for example) don't create a "propper" character when they first play the game. basically you need to choose what will be your main weapon before the game and then shape the character accordingly.

There are complicated guidelines to creating a character, but for newbs this should be enough. If you're trying to create a well-rounded character you should just search for any thread here about character creation, that way we won't have to repost everything most of us allready know.gregor wrote:problem is because people (like me for example) don't create a "propper" character when they first play the game. basically you need to choose what will be your main weapon before the game and then shape the character accordingly.
If you still have questions after that I'd be glad to help.
