Congrats, King A! Getting married is pretty awesome, do keep us up to date on how things go!
Also, I'm working on a post about my wedding, I just need to fix up some pics (I have to show you all the cake!). But I can tell you that it was the best day of my whole life, and the best wedding I've ever been to.

Re: Family and Relationship happenings thread
So, I guess this is the right place to post about a wedding, right?
We had a lovely garden wedding (my parents' garden, which was the best venue on account of it not costing anything), only our closest family as guests, with everything home-made: my mother cooked (beef pies!), made my dress, did my hair and make-up, and did the decorating. My dad did the ceremony (inspired by a Pagan handfasting, but with all religious-y references taken out so as to not offend the Christian family members).
My mom's friends did the flowers, one of them took proper pictures and lent us some chairs, my brother and his friends were our waiters, and of course I baked the cake. I wore a red dress and went barefoot, while husband wore a more traditional black suit with a grey shirt and red tie (he wore shoes, too). Since these pics were taken by him, I don't have any of the two of us, but I'll put one in the "picture of yourself" thread as soon as we get our pictures back from the photographer.
The wedding cake was a mocha spice cake, with Swiss meringue buttercream frosting, white chocolate ganache filling, and meringue mushrooms for decoration.
A slice of the cake. The mushrooms took me most of the Friday evening and night to make.
There were lights all over the garden, which made the whole place look like something from a fairy tale.
And me! Yeah, the fact that the only really nice picture husband took of me is one where I'm eating does say a lot about my priorities...
And yeah, that's pretty much that

Congratulations!
But... On a slightly less happy note - does anyone know how to deal with New Parent Insanity? I live with my brother and my sister-in-law, and since last month with my cute nephew too.
The kid is awesome, he doesn't even wake me up at night that much, he's healthy and everything is just fine. But the two of them are driving me insane. They are constantly on the very edge of panic, they consult at least a dozen books to be sure they do everything absolutely perfectly (because otherwise the world will explode, obviously) and their insanity is interfering with my life ten times as much as the actual newborn is. Any ideas? Please?

I had a bro's night out with my buddies, one of them got hit by a car today, good thing we did the bro's night out sooner before he got hit. Flirted and whatnot. My sister's birthday is today! Where going to party and have Smirnof.

No avoiding it, I'm afraid. It's a natural thing for first time parents. They'll worry about everything, regardless of whether it warrants the worry or not. Don't worry. It'll fade!dzio wrote:But... On a slightly less happy note - does anyone know how to deal with New Parent Insanity?

He's doing alright, he scratched his face, and he might have a spranged or dislocated arm, but I think he will pull through.

Yeah, but when? If it takes them a year to rediscover the joys of rational thinking I might do something drastic before...Avron the S'wit wrote:Don't worry. It'll fade!

Re: Family and Relationship happenings thread
A year? Oh, sweetie, it can take much longer than that. See, I used to babysit for a mom suffering from this very same condition, and well, the kid is six now with a new baby sister, and she's still a little bit paranoid. But generally parents who are like that stop worrying that much about the paranoia and the books when the baby turns into a toddler, and suddenly just trying to keep them from climbing onto stuff and breaking their neck becomes a full-time panic-inducing job.
And thank you all for your kind words and wishes! So far marriage is turning out to be great. I think I might stick with it

I am awefully sad. My girlfriend went on a three month trip to Colombia two days ago. It's empty without her. I wish I had a computer that could run Skyrim to keep me busy.

Awh, yeah. That's really tough. My significant other and I are in different states and he also travels a lot, so we don't see each other, either. But it also helps you to appreciate your time with them!the Savage Hippie wrote:I am awefully sad. My girlfriend went on a three month trip to Colombia two days ago. It's empty without her.

Re: Family and Relationship happenings thread
Yeah, that's one positive side to it. Another positive side is I can focus even more on getting a job, although I doubt that anything will happen. Even the temp agencies are useless to me. Lucky for me, my parents are willing to lend me money to get a driver's license to improve my opportunities. So in the wait for her return I will just have to focus on getting a driver's license and hopefully a job.

Re: Family and Relationship happenings thread
I think I now know what it means to Hate someone you love...
There's this girl I like who is (was?) my friend, but she annoys me a lot (like when she acts annoying with her annoying friend...), and for whatever reason, she's completely ignoring me for no apparent reason. For example, we'll all be sitting as lunch, and you know, we'll be talking about whatever. I'll ask her a question about something she just said, and she'll just sudden go quiet and pretend I didn't even say anything, and then go right back to talking to everyone else! In class, I asked her if she needed a highlighter (I had the bin of highlighters in my hand) and she just kind of pauses for a second, not wanting to say to me "No," but needing to say something so I'll give her one. She just shakes her head no quickly, and I hand it to her. No "Thanks," or anything. I also sit right behind her in class, so when the teacher gives our row papers, she'll hand it to me (like always), and like always, I take it and say thank you. I have no clue why she's ignoring me. I'm not being mean to her, I'm obviously not ignoring her. I'll tell her thank you, or excuse me, and everything.
I obviously can't ask her why she's ignoring me because she's ignoring me, and I don't want to ask someone, "Hey, can you ask [Her] why she's ignoring me? Thanks." I'd rather she tell me why then one of my friends.

...I'm not the one to judge, but, do you really wants someone that childish in your life? If I were you, I would just stop paying attention, and do the same thing back, besides, there is never a reason to ignore someone, ever.

Ask her. Yeah she is ignoring you so you might think she will ignore your comment, but when you say something like that to someone they will sing.
There could be multiple reasons why she is doing what she is doing.
Bloody hell sunshine, which view are you actually promoting?

I think my post wasn't clear... I mean don't ignore her, just don't talk to her.
If she says something, you should respond. But other than that, don't say a word to her.
Ignoring is not talking to somone, it's not responding.
