Most high schools I know of don't really go much past Calc 2, but you can switch it up a bit. For example, I graduated having taken Calc 2, but had friends that hadn't taken any Calc, but took Statistics. I didn't take Stat in high school. It's just the way the system works, and I think its good. You take math in an order that makes sense, but if you aren't skilled in Math, you aren't required to take more advanced math, but most places do require 4 years of it.
Here in Texas (well Houston) in high school you have to take Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2 and the 4th can be any other match course ( math models, pre Cal, and College Algebra)

Haven't heard that song in a while! I had mistaken you for Wyclef Jean - If I Was President.

Good call scrib.

I do what I do. Don't know if I know the Wyclef song though, I'll give it a listen.

My high school (private and in D.C. so not much to base on) also has the same order of Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2 & Trigonometry, Pre-Calc, Calc AB, Calc BC. However, there's this weird math track I'm on where I tested out of Algebra 1 going into freshman year, then I do Geometry in 1 semester (double speed), and finish freshman year with a semester of pre-calc, skipping algebra 2 trig. Then, sophomore year is finishing up pre-calc and starting calculus. Junior year is Calc AB (1) and senior year is Calc BC (2). I'd never heard of something like this until I found out I was in it... On the other hand, some people take algebra 1 their freshman year and only finish pre-calc their senior year. It's nice to have pacing options, I suppose. Also, statistics is an elective we can take for college credit (only available senior year, I believe).

:| It wasn't easy, believe me. Still, I had a great teacher for it, and (not to sound cocky or anything) but it's quite difficult to get into (only 5 out of 250 from the freshman class made it, along with a few sophomores). The weirder thing is pre-calc without taking algebra 2 trig!

Slightly nervous. Got to deliver a product tomorrow, as part of a business project. Everything is done, but it's still nerve wrecking. I wish I had done it on my own  Relying on people isn't a bad thing, but when something needs to be done, the only person you can really rely on to get it done is you, regardless of how much you trust the person doing it :P
