Re: DLC Speculation
I'd like to see a portable Camp pack, consisting of a Tent, Bedroll, Cooking Pot, and an Alchemy Bag. You'd be able to purchase the various items from merchants and traders, or you could craft them yourself. (Leather and leather strips for the tent, iron ingot and firewood for the cooking pot, etc.)
With the Camp pack equipped, you could set up a camp in the wilderness, giving you a place to sleep and to convert raw foods into cooked meals. (Turning raw food into cooked items tends to streamline your inventory a bit.) The purpose of the Alchemy Bag is to act as a safe container for storage while the camp is set up, allowing you to go off wandering and exploring without having to carry everything with you. When the camp is set up, the game could add a temporary marker on the map, showing its location, and named for your character. In my case, it would be Festus' Camp.

Re: DLC Speculation
The customs of isolated Nordic tribes not part of the Empire(which, at the time, Skyrim was part of quite proudly) and a history that was only very intangibly related(we got a lot more lore and info from previous games and even Morrowind itself), somehow means Skyrim? No. You are trying to twist Solstheim waaaaaaaay far from what it was. It was not Skyrim v0.1, and for any proposal involving Black Marsh as DLC in any fashion(IE; the border with Morrowind idea), that is what we would have: Black Marsh v0.1.Wolfie wrote:So we saw their coustms, their weather, the tpye of place they live, their pepole, their history, etcStan RedGuard wrote:We saw Nords and the climate. That does not make it Skyrim. Were the snowy mountains of Cyrodiil also part of Skyrim then?XD No. Solstheim is not a province itself, nor is it part of Skyrim. Ipso facto, we didn't see Skyrim until Skyrim.
I mean, parts of Elsewyr and Hammerfell are deserts, but if we had an expansion in the Alik'r and then two full games later we were in Elsewyr, would we say that the Alik'r expansion was in Elsewyr?
So how did we not see skyrim?
yes we did not see the "place" but we did see a isalnd that has evreythign skyrim has except it happens not to "belong" to skyrim
the diffrice here is that those two places are very far apart AND very defreint
Skyrim coustoms and such where there, for hammerfell it would not be
And even so thats my whole point, show them a small area to intruduce us to the place
like blood moon gave us a glimps at the nords and their way of life
There is seemingly a whole freakin' community of folks from Alaska who are just down the street here in my town in Colorado. It is snowing and I am in a mountainous region. Am I in Alaska? After all, there are Alaskans and the climate is so very much alike at this second in time.
Why you seem so incredibly focused in on wanting to see Black marsh, any part of it, as some sort of forgettable, throw-away, non-essential DLC is completely unknown to me.

Re: DLC Speculation
well i thought Solstheim was definitely a preview of skyrim, which is mainly why i wasnt keen on the idea of Skyrim being the next TES, cos i thought a white wasteland full of horkers and wolves was going to be a bit of a yawn (which I was totally wrong about lol)
i think something orcish would be great in going with the harshness of the game, but a contrasting place would be in keeping with previous dlc for TES3 and 4, i dont think they would show another province.
But there are thousands of islands and interesting areas they could bring in as dlc, they are spoilt for choice really and tbh we can only go on what we have in lore already - these guys can spontaneously create material as if by magic, and i really hope they do this for the dlc. Or give us the return of the dwemer (or a chance to follow them..)

Orsinium would be nice since the province it is in has been seen, it would be easily blockable, and it would provide nice insight into the Orcs.Mattbott wrote:well i thought Solstheim was definitely a preview of skyrim, which is mainly why i wasnt keen on the idea of Skyrim being the next TES, cos i thought a white wasteland full of horkers and wolves was going to be a bit of a yawn (which I was totally wrong about lol)

Yep ad like you said its Black Marsh v0.1, still a part of black marsh. The customs of isolated Nordic tribes not part of the Empire(which, at the time, Skyrim was part of quite proudly) and a history that was only very intangibly related(we got a lot more lore and info from previous games and even Morrowind itself), somehow means Skyrim? What if Dovahkiin attended the Moot, when they elected the High King? I could see this happening... the Moot refuses to elect either Ulfric or Elisif, and instead... well, something else happens. No clue. But it could be interested.

I think it was only the border to the Deadlands that were closed, as other Daedra seem to have no problem entering and leaving Tamriel.

However, what you all are forgetting, is that Solstheim the place has changed a lot in the past 206 years. Not only have the Dunmer moved in, probably dominating at least the Southern half of the island, but we have no idea what effects the Red Year had on the climate, or what sort of flora and fauna the Dunmer brought with them when they established there.

The barrier only prevents those wishing to invade Tamriel from Oblivion from doing so, the Daedra can still transport a person from Tamriel to one of their realms, and they can even open mysterious doors as an invitation, a la Sheogorath, Boethia and Peryite (although I doubt they'd all do something as simple as that).

1- You missed the point. I was saying that if we did that, it would be Black Marsh v0.1, something that Bloodmoon was not.Wolfie wrote:Yep ad like you said its Black Marsh v0.1, still a part of black marsh. The customs of isolated Nordic tribes not part of the Empire(which, at the time, Skyrim was part of quite proudly) and a history that was only very intangibly related(we got a lot more lore and info from previous games and even Morrowind itself), somehow means Skyrim? No, of couse I want the dlc done right and be as Good as blood moon was, if its done right it will be none of those
2- Except in this case, the island is as close to Morrowind as it is to Skyrim. So I guess Colorado is Alaska!
3- Blood Moon(Solstheim) was not Skyrim v0.1, as has been the point. If they did it right like Blood Moon, it would not be Black Marsh the province, any bit of it. That is why I dislike the Morrowind-Black Marsh border idea. If you wanted to have it on a small island near Black Marsh that is 100% like it but is not part of the province, cool, whatever. (Though it wouldn't make sense as DLC, really) I just don't want to see the actual province of Black Marsh as DLC.

We're getting close to Mass Effect! Although few memes are a match for "Could it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations"

This might be a stupid question, but how much damage is done to white run during the battle?
Are any buildings damage and shops closed.
Most specifically I am worried about my house there, it is the only one have so far. Will all my items in my storage chests be safe?
