I don't think Elder Scrolls should do a finale for awhile. They have it going good.Dat1Guy wrote:Summerset, final showdown between what's left of the Empire and Thalmor

I'd kinda like to see Elsweyr or Black Marsh, myself. The former because a land of deserts and tropical rainforests sounds like it would be a nice break from the "generic fantasy land" vibe in Oblivion and Skyrim, and the latter because I think a massive swamp filled with poisonous, disease-carrying creatures would be fun and because it would be somewhat reminiscent of Morrowind.

Elsewyr, because IIRC, it has both jungles and deserts. Sick of either rich forests or snowy mountains.

It would be hilarious if Bethesda outsourced Elder Scrolls #: Akavir to Japanese developers and made basically a JRPG.
I would play the hell out of it with an ear-to-ear grin at the ridiculousness of it all.

I think TES would be terrible if it was a JRPG, not that I hate JRPG's but it would feel like a Carebear game were you beat up children.

if its next gen, then it should be something they couldnt've done justice to before, and surely Valenwood with its huge trees, big enough to contain houses/villages/palaces (cant remember exactly how big they are but in my imagination they're [&@%!] huge) is the most exciting prospect.
think of it, the map would have levels, from ground level, to treetop. the whole map.

Re: Where do you want Elder Scrolls VI to be?
I've only played Morrowind so far (and Daggerfall for a bit, but that was ages ago), so I'm not up to speed on the lore. For me though it doesn't really matter where the next part is set, as long as they can make the place alive. A solid political intrigue and rich cultural and historical background, as well as interesting and varied geography - that would make me happy. From what I've read in the game and in wiki, every single part of Nirn has the potential to be awesome...
If I had to choose I'd say Valenwood or Black Marsh - I like my fantasy worlds complicated and with layers and layers of hidden stuff I can spend months exploring. Valenwood (the way I imagine it) gives the chance to make the world three-dimensional, in a way that's impossible in other places. In a dense old forest of impossibly tall trees you can have a maze of locations, some of them on the ground, some underground, between the roots, some high up, closer to the sun. And Black Marsh sounds alien, dark and dangerous, with lost cities, abandonned settlements, old and rotting buildings - a great place for an explorer and potentially amazing atmosphere.

I guess Summerset Isle would be nice or a combination of Valenwood and Elsweyr.

I think Blackmarsh would be good, to see how a the Argonian invasion northward has changed anything.

The biggest reason I want Elsweyr is because I wan to see the khajiit as a main race. But you are right.svknight wrote:I guess Summerset Isle would be nice or a combination of Valenwood and Elsweyr.

Re: Where do you want Elder Scrolls VI to be?
Maybe the next elder scrolls could take place in the realms of oblivion? Meet all the daedric peepz and all that fo' sizzal? It would be cool if you could join the daedra or Nine divin and have a war n' stuff like that. Image, taking place of an actual war in a ES game. I know about Skyrim and the civil war, but what if the war was like that of the mission in SI were you were helping a bunch of ghosts and making preparations and stuff. Uber fun ensued.

The reason why I think Valenwood and Elsweyr would be good for the next game is because of Daggerfall which was set in High Rock and Hammerfell.

Heh, whenever I look at the map of Tamriel and remember the enormous size of the land in Daggerfall I feel like asking if they have Time Lords there to make it bigger on the inside...

Doctor Who references... me likey.dzio wrote:Heh, whenever I look at the map of Tamriel and remember the enormous size of the land in Daggerfall I feel like asking if they have Time Lords there to make it bigger on the inside...
As for the topic at hand... I want it to be in the Summerset Isles, just so I can crush the Sload in an all out magical brawl. I think the Altmer story is going to be predictable like this, just because of the rumours you get about them reviving their city from the deep. Can't for the life of me remember which game that is in though... still, all RPG stories are pretty predictable anyway, it's all about going on a ridiculously long journey, being hindered by the bad guy and his minions along the way, and finally slaying her/him in a satisfying show of magical colours and bright lights. You will also have to slay a demon on the way, and save the man in distress(they don't seem to use gals anymore) from a cave full of man-beasts. This doesn't really bother me, as long as the game mechanics are fun, the main story is fleshed out, and everything else like side-quests and lore have some thought in them then I'm a happy bunny.
My money is on the Black Marsh though, I got an overwhelming feeling about it. Hell I can even picture the front case of it... all black with a dark green fog and a small swampy patch... designed to look simple yet mysterious.

Re: Where do you want Elder Scrolls VI to be?
What's not to like?
And on the subject - that's exactly why I'd prefer Valenwood or Black Marsh rather than other options. I agree that all RPG plots follow very similar lines, but I'm a bit tired of the "lo and behold, you're the prophecised hero, sent here to save us all!" vibe. TES games are all about immersion and freedom, and in those two provinces you could push it to the limit. Yes, the political situation is interesting and can generate a very complex plot "in high places", but here you could go in the opposite direction and become an explorer, really discover something and make your mark in the world this way. I'm playing Morrowind and the disappearance of the Dwemer storyline is something I absoultely love. I always wish I could go and figure out how all those machines work.

Re: Where do you want Elder Scrolls VI to be?
If I had to guess, it'll take place on the Summerset Isles. They've wanted to make a game there since Morrowind right?
If I could go with what I WANTED however, I'd choose High Rock.

Re: Where do you want Elder Scrolls VI to be?
The warm climate of Elsweyr will be a nice change, add to that seeing the culture of the Khajiit and such, which would be awesome with how awesome the A.I would be by that time? Black Marsh would be cool too. Not too interested in Summerset Isles to be honest. Sorry, I'm an animal person.

Re: Where do you want Elder Scrolls VI to be?
Before Skyrim I would've been inclined to say Summerset Isles, but after totally falling in love with the new Khajiit design, I'm dying to see Elsweyr. Summerset would be great from a geographical (islands surrounded by ocean = no more "You can't go that way, turn back") and Current Events (the Thalmor and their shenanigans) standpoint, though.
Personally, I'm getting hidden signals from the Khajiit in-game. The cool dialogue option with the cat merchant outside Whiterun, for example, "Tell me about your homeland". Is Bethesda grooming us towards Elsweyr?

Meh. I'll leave it to Bethesda to create a province with a more alien tint a'la Morrowind, at least I expect exotic vistas since it's not a Human land.n810 wrote:Pssst...

In my opinion, each and every province desires more attention than a ragtag bunch of modders working under the framework of a previous game can offer. Remember, Bethesda can commit their entire manpower for several years on a single game, and the results speak for themselves. Bugs and glitches aside, the lore and landscapes in each game are the thing for me.

I would love to see Black Marsh, as it sounds even more bizarre and alien than Morrowind.
