Canon Dragonborn
So what race is the Canon Dragonborn going to be? Who did he side with during the war?

Re: Canon Dragonborn
You always start out as a Nord male. It's always weird because the npc's that talk to you before you "decide who you truly are" including gender.

Re: Canon Dragonborn
Race would likely be Nord, that seems to be the trend in previous games (native to whatever Province the game takes place in), but which side I'm not sure. Both have their reasons for occurring, so it could honestly go either way. Empire, from a lore perspective, seems likely as it would allow the next game to flesh the story line with the Thalmor out. Siding with the Stormcloaks though would definitely create a whole new plot twist, and I wouldn't be surprised if Bethesda might want to go in this new direction.

Finish the Dark Brotherhood questline and you'll know they've already taken the winding path. It only gets more complicated from here, trust me.Gepard wrote:Race would likely be Nord, that seems to be the trend in previous games (native to whatever Province the game takes place in), but which side I'm not sure. They made 100% sure to NEVER specify a race in Morrowind
99% sure that this is true for Oblivion as well
99% sure that this is true for Oblivion as well

Re: Canon Dragonborn
why can't people just enjoy the game without ruining others by trying to label something canon? there is no canon except for the core storyline of dragons coming back, everything else is up to the player, bethesda gave us these choices for a reason, to choose what we want. dragonborn's gender and race is entirely up to us along with his/her morality and path. I swear with every rpg game there is always going to be someone who tries to label something canon in it which ruins the fact that these type of games are about multiple choices.

There is no canon race. The Dragonborn will be written into the Elder Scrolls, and the Elder Scrolls are forever changing. As for what he did, we only know that he
While everything that happens in Skyrim happens in the world, it is never revealed who is the one to do this. As such, it can be dragonborn, or some other hero.

Re: Canon Dragonborn
I always thought it was based on the game..
Morrowind = Dunmer (cant explain Bloodmoon ala this logic)
Oblivion = Imperial (the guard in the introvideo with the sword looks like one)
Skyrim = Nord (being as its default start)
Also it would appear that they kinda got weird from Oblivion -> Skyrim with the whole

I don't think its weird. No one refers to your character by your race and sex before the character creation.unokitsune wrote:You always start out as a Nord male. It's always weird because the npc's that talk to you before you "decide who you truly are" including gender.

There won't be one. None of the previous game's protagonists is ever referred to by name, gender, race, age..anything specific.Mithrandir wrote:So what race is the Canon Dragonborn going to be? Who did he side with during the war?
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: Canon Dragonborn
The Elder Scrolls see all possible pasts and futures.
Pretty much, the Elder Scrolls are a plot excuse to make sure there is never a canon main character, and all the quest you do? Well, those were possible, too, but they may or may not have happened.
Bethesda even went so far as to making multiple-choice ending off Daggerfall null and void by explaining it away via the book Warp in the West.

Re: Canon Dragonborn
Yeah..the copout in this game universe is "An Elder Scroll Did It" as opposed to "A Wizard Did It". Game dialogue in Skyrim suggests the gods themselves fear the Scrolls and with good reason.

There will never be a canon dragonborn. It is up to you to decide who the dragonborn was.

I had thought The Oblivion Crisis mentioned male pronouns at some point, but I just reread it to check, and they went through hilarious ends to avoid it.Pilaf The Defiler wrote:There won't be one. Re: Canon Dragonborn
See what I mean? They won't go the KOTOR route or anything and canonize the gender. It'll always be "The Nerevarine" or "The Champion" or "The Dragonborn."
