So a dragon just attacked Solitude...

Post by drumgodrob »

I was not aware that dragons could attack walled cities (i.e cities that require loading). Is this a glitch from patch 1.2 or is it just normal?

Normal. And exciting! Makes dragon fights a little more chaotic knowing that someone you care about could be killed if you don't take it out quickly (or at least draw its attention away from the common folk).

I had Riften under attack...needless to say I dont have Dragonrend and the 4x I tried killing him ended up with several decent folks being killed.

I dont think dragons care about your walls...

I rarely get any dragon :(
But I've had one attack on Winterhold, and many on the college grounds.

When on the college, I don't really mind, I get help from the mages, so it isn't very hard
When on the city, it's hard as hell. The dragon is always moving :D

I've had to fend off five dragon attacks in Riverwood, of all places! Hasn't happened in any other city. There was one just outside Riften, but that's it.
If they weren't nords, but instead dunmer or redguards, nobody would call them "racist".

Haha, Dragons seem to love Riverwood, I've gotten three there. I've only had one dragon attack in a walled city and it was Riften. It's kind of exciting, but from what I can see, the NPCs, even civilians, all come out to fight instead of run inside, and I lost a good number of merchants to sell to before the dragon went down.

I had thought that they didn't attack cities (I had gone through 5 different characters over a long time without it happening), but that all changed when I noticed the everything around me in the Windhelm Market district got dark really fast...

I've never had a Dragon attack a walled city. Usually they attack me just outside cities when I arrive. And generally at the most inconvenient times.

Every time I go to the College of Winterhold, a dragon attacks. In the courtyard, on the bridge, in Winterhold proper, they always appear as I'm leaving the Hall of Elements.

Only city place attacked is winterhold even then itnwas just the mages guild atm there are 9 ancient dragon corpses, saddly the mages there run and leave me, the High Sorceress Arch-Mage to kill them all, ungrateful mages.

I keep getting attacked in the College too. There have been at least 5. The most interesting one being when I used dragonrend on him while in the courtyard and the Dragon landed on top of the college in the arch mage's balcony... or whatever you would call it... Luckily i ran up there and he was still there, waiting for an epic battle.

Had one land in the courtyard of Castle Dour in Solitude. I only got a chance to whack it on the tail a few times with my warhammer before the legionnaires dispatched the scaly brute.

I once had a dragon attack Solitude on my game. I'm pretty sure it basically insta-died.

And how exactly does one do this? Even when I encounter them in wilderness or at their nest, they want to avoid me and fly all over the damn place.

Literally every time I visit the college it gets attacked. Literally every time. I've never managed to lose anyone though; they usually get pretty stun locked by the rest of the mages.

Now before last night... I would have never believed this thread since dragons never seem to even notice my warrior character when he's walking out in the open TRYING to get their attention. I always had to hope for a dragon to attack something near me so I could rush to the fight and attack it once or twice to get its attention.

Yet last night I fast traveled to Windhelm to sell a butt load of potions that I had just made like I was doing at every other city and suddenly I look up to see a dragon flying by. I figured he'd keep going whichever way he was pointed when suddenly the fight music broke out...

And all hell broke loose in Windhelm.

I've had around 3 or 4 dragons attack Riften. They last about 20 seconds on average with a town full of people shooting arrows at them. I berley get a hit in, I feel sorry for the poor creatures.

I wonder how many dragons actually survive this brutal onslaught, lore-wise that is.
I used to make polls, but then I took an arrow in the knee.
