most useful perk
for me it's been Soul Siphon from the enchanting tree,
i've never been a fan of soul trap, and as i don't use fast travel at all, this keeps my weapons perpetually charged, i've had to use gems just the once since i've had it

Re: most useful perk
For my current character, Fists of Steel. Now I just need some gloves to go with it.
For my mage, the stagger perk. Not much to say about that one really.

Re: most useful perk
Soul siphon - I don't think it works in my game? From the perk description I already had my doubts, but from your description above I'm convinced. My experience is nothing like yours! I have to charge my weapons continuously - as much as before I had the perk! Annoyed.

The 15x damage multiplier for a dagger sneak attack, hands down.

Oh, I forgot about that one. Definitely my favourite perk for sneaks, 15x is just so crazy.Lindai wrote:The 15x damage multiplier for a dagger sneak attack, hands down.

Re: most useful perk
Does Soul Squeezer affect the initial amount of times the weapon can be used or does it only give extra energy when soul trapping?

Re: most useful perk
i guess im extra pleased its so suited to no-fast-travel play, i never have to go out of my way to look for animals, just whatever attacks me in the wild is enough, also i use warhammers with about +50% two handed damage enchants, so i dont spend a lot of charge in multiple hits, one or two power smacks is usually enoughbesidavi wrote:Soul siphon - I don't think it works in my game? Re: most useful perk
At the moment, it is "Block Runner". Finally, I can chase both archers and spellcasters with my shield raised to protect me against their arrows and spells
The second favorite is "Savage Strike", just to occasionally see those spellcasters loosing their head.

Re: most useful perk
What about 'most useful perks' at lower levels?
Are there any, that maybe you take for granted now, but are in hindsight extremely valuable for your gameplay?

I think the enchantment tree is a must; having strong enchantments at low levels gives you a strong advantage, and later in the game when enemies become much stronger, enchantment armor/weapons are almost a must.LooneyToon41 wrote:What about 'most useful perks' at lower levels?

Bullet time perk in Block at 30 skill. Saved me worlds of hurt early-mid game before my armor class was up to snuff.LooneyToon41 wrote:What about 'most useful perks' at lower levels?

The Summoner perk from Conjuration. Nothin' like causing mass confusion in a group of aggressive NPCs like popping an Atronach right in the middle of them, while you're a nice and safe distance away.

Re: most useful perk
for those of you that run multiple characters at one time how do you do that? It takes me so much effort and time to concentrate on one character during a playthru that i can't imagine throwing another character into the mix and going back and forth between the two (or more) games.
Ofcouse, i'm very OCD/pack rat'ish so any kind of special item or weapon/armor i pick up i keep and throw in my house...w/ multiple characters this would be way too time consuming.

Re: most useful perk
I just felt like trying out a different style of playing and after a while I felt like going back to my first character, than after a while again I felt like trying out yet another style of playing. It just sort of happened.

Re: most useful perk
I was like you when I played Oblivion, but I discovered that two characters can offer two totally different styles of play and allows you to specialize your characters more, while still completing all the major quest lines...instead of having one super character maxed out at all stats who completes all the major quest lines, you can focus on just specializing each character for a much truer role play. You should try it!AreteThorne wrote:for those of you that run multiple characters at one time how do you do that? I also don't feel as "rushed" if that makes sense. Like I don't feel like I have to max my character in everything, even skills he doesn't use, because I can use those skills with a different character, so I still get the accomplishment of maxing everything. If that makes sense

It is indeed great. But raises questions why the archery one sticks at a mere x3. it could have been boosted to x6 at least.Lindai wrote:The 15x damage multiplier for a dagger sneak attack, hands down.
Btw the x15 dagger perk is further boosted while wearing dark brotherhood armor to x30!

I have to say mine is the dual wield destruction magic, it's the main reason I got Skyrim
I used to be an adventurer, but then I broke my GF's IPhone 4 & she mutilated me in a rather personal manner

Re: most useful perk
I haven't touched enchanting at all yet. I'm a little disturbed by the plethora of comments like this that imply enchanting is so vital to the game because it sounds like it wasn't well-balanced.phoult37 wrote:I think the enchantment tree is a must; having strong enchantments at low levels gives you a strong advantage, and later in the game when enemies become much stronger, enchantment armor/weapons are almost a must.
I haven't played through a ton of different things, but the most useful to me has been Silent Roll simply because it helps my mobility while sneaking. The upper end Marksman perks like Power Shot are also quite nice.

Re: most useful perk
I think it really depends on your style of play and how difficult you want the game to be. If you want a challenge at later levels, than not enchanting is the way to go, I would imagine. If you like having a super-powerful character, then I think enchanting is a must. I haven't played through enough though to be totally sureazuarc wrote:I haven't touched enchanting at all yet. Re: most useful perk
Because a 6X for archery would have made it totally unfair. For example, with my level 100 smithing ability and a few enchantments, my bow does around 110 damage so with a sneak attack thats 300 damage, which is already a little ridiculous. Imagine 600 damage on a sneak attack from a bow...the game would be effectively over because of the range and damage. The Black Weasel wrote:It is indeed great. At least with the 30X on the dagger you have to get a little up-close and personal
