I hope bethesda makes enough money
I seriously wouldn't mind paying lets say $80 instead of $60 for this game, just because developers like them spend 5 years on a game and it shows, and charge the same price garbage games like COD do that release a new game every year. Ok, not a fair comparison, let's try fable 3.
The release between fable 2 and fable 3 is what...2 years? Charge full price, terrible game, and content locked away as DLC upon release.
Not trying to bash other games, I just hope Bethesda makes enough money so that they won't be tempted to start churning out games faster like lionhead and cod (w/e their developers are called....affinity?).
Games like zelda and ES are a dying breed where the developers spend SO long on their game, and it really shows. Love the quality. That's kinda why I'm hoping for a little DLC and maybe an expansion. Keeps more money rolling in and keeps us happy as well. I'm sure they made loads of profit though, but games like COD just have to spew out another game every year and lineups are longer than Zelda or Skyrim often!

Early sales figures for the game say that yeah, they're doing all right.

Very true. Skyrim did excellent in reviews by both critics and fans, and sold extremely well.dtmwerks wrote:I seriously wouldn't mind paying lets say $80 instead of $60 for this game, just because developers like them spend 5 years on a game and it shows, and charge the same price garbage games like COD do that release a new game every year. Fable 3 was a failure, and saw many fans of the franchise jump ship. Modern Warfare 3, for all it's monetary success, was an absolute, complete failure in the eyes of many people that played it. I didn't play it, but my brother returned it literally like 4 days after he bought it, and so did like 50 other people in the area apparently.
Hopefully gamers are wising up. I just wish content would take precedent over everything...

I know what you mean , quantity is taking a backseat to quality , which is terrible. TES games literally last hundreds of hours [if not more] whereas games like COD you get a 12 hour storyline and the same multiplayer game that came out last year.
I would definitely be willing to pay more for TES games to keep Bethesda cranking out great games ,but I don't think we will have to ,they seem to be doing pretty good.
As long as they dont try to sell me more horse armor for 2.50$

Hahaha at least they have a sense of humor. On aprils fools day I think all their DLC was cut in half, and their horse armor cost was doubled! They make fun of it a lot actually.Flood15 wrote:I know what you mean , quantity is taking a backseat to quality , which is terrible. I suppose it's too late to hope for an edition of Oblivion that isn't ham-strung by the universal ABomb bug...Flood15 wrote:I know what you mean , quantity is taking a backseat to quality , which is terrible. This is probably from way before your time as a gamer, but Ultima VII (7) is the best and last great RPG of the series, thankfully developed and release before the Electronic Arts's takeover (the Evil Empire).dtmwerks wrote:Games like zelda and ES are a dying breed where the developers spend SO long on their game, and it really shows. I have to make due with my Xbox 360.
I'm not...computer savvy enough to even attempt to play Skyrim on PC.
I get confused by the technical details. For some reason, I just don't understand computers. >_>

Re: I hope bethesda makes enough money
Games should have more varied pricing. The idea of charging the same amount for an RPG like Skyrim and a 5 hour shooter like Kane & Lynch is insanity.

Re: I hope bethesda makes enough money
I guess they make some extra cash with the collectors edition. The greater quality a game is the more they can charge and people who can afford it will gladly buy? Then again, COD has expensive legendary editions as well and their quality is very questionable.
