Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
There definitely needs to be multiplayer in this game! I know most longtime TES fans will disagree, but haven't you ever wondered how cool it would be to roam Skyrim with a few of your friends? Depending on how many people have joined (Max of 4), the enemies will be stronger. I'm sure there could be more balancing to be done, but this is a start.
I know that multiplayer at this point is impossible to implement in Skyrim, but maybe in the next TES game?

If they had a sort of Fable-like Multiplayer I think it COULD work, but TES is more complex than Fable, maybe DLC?

Re: Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
Very good point, but by "a sort of Fable-like Multiplayer", do you mean that the players take the form of a wisp-like thing, not an actual person in your game???zpr9610 wrote:If they had a sort of Fable-like Multiplayer I think it COULD work, but TES is more complex than Fable, maybe DLC?
Now what do you mean by co-op? Pretty much what I said in the OP, or do you have something different in mind?Modryn wrote:Co-Op would be nice.

Then yes, that would be very good. I just can't stop thinking about how cool it would be to be in your friend's Skyrim game and just do a bunch of cool sh*t together.zpr9610 wrote:I am speaking of the Drop-in Drop-out feature.3dga7xb4mv wrote:Very good point, but by "a sort of Fable-like Multiplayer", do you mean that the players take the form of a wisp-like thing, not an actual person in your game???zpr9610 wrote:If they had a sort of Fable-like Multiplayer I think it COULD work, but TES is more complex than Fable, maybe DLC?

Re: Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
No no no no no no no no no no!!!!!! Mulitiplayer would be very bad for TES it would go the same way as all MP games, no focus on SP and more on MP it would lose depth and just be a ruination. PLEASE Bethesda Keep TES SP! I'm have no firends and no XBL gold so The elder scrolls is a safe haven for me and one of the few games I really love for its SP focus only.
If they could make MP and keep the SP deep and engrossing it would be fine, I understand that people would like MP, but so many game Devs NEVER do this SP disappears and MP takes over. I'm sure those without friends or XBL gold would agree.

The only way I think it could work would be improving the already existing follower system. Instead of having not always perfect and intelligent companions controlled by the AI, they would be the characters made by our friends that would appear in our world once we accept them.

Re: Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
Its not like they are going to have two seperate options sp or mp they would still make sp as amazing as it is with lots of detail and what not, but think of it as a your friend taking overa companion, but with their character. Its what this game sorta needs i mean really a lone adventurer in this world is quite unlikely, and the npc team mates are always a disappointment.

Yes, cause something new came into the game, now its ruined. Even though you could simply NOT play co-op x.xMathiasFlynnias wrote:I would gladly retire from the world, were such a day to dawn... when TES has multi-player.

Re: Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
This is what I was thinking about. Although I wouldn't mind a co-op feature so I could dungeon dive with a friend, when adding any type of MP feature you tend to lose content they could have had were it SP only, and I'd rather have SP only if it means more content.Elegost wrote:No no no no no no no no no no!!!!!! And when I said co-op earlier I meant just having a friend or 2 join. Any other form of MP and I'd be disappointed.
I can also see MP being buggy as hell... ugh. Even thinking about it makes me cringe for some reason.

Re: Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
My opinion was asked and I gave it. I feel that if there was multi-player, there would be nowhere near as depth a single player as there is now. Not only this, but Bethesda normally have to cut A LOT of stuff to fit the original game on the disc, and now you want more on it? Multi-player takes up a lot, so practically it would make a lot of sense never to do Multi-player.
All in all, it's just not TES to have multi-player, I personally believe it would ruin single player and anyone who disagrees is wrong. All my opinion of course.

Re: Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
Oh gawd. This has been done to death, and it's not going to happen while the current team at Beth are there. Maybe it'll happen in a Fallout, but the question to ask yourself is - does Skyrim need multiplayer to be Skyrim? No. It doesn't add anything to what they're trying to do, and until it is (likely never) it won't happen.
That being said, I wouldn't mind some sort of social aspect being added into the Elder Scrolls. Not a multiplayer, but something like Call of Duty Elite, or what Bioware has done. A site that your stats, character info, quests done etc. are uploaded to automatically. Something to make it social - not multiplayer.
That being said - it's a waste of development time. Where as they could be concerned about adding some new lore in, a new race (the Maomer anyone?) or a new weapon type (spears, cross bows), it'd be devoted to getting something that real TES fans won't play. It'll be Fable all over again.
I love Skyrim, I love Oblivion, I love Daggerfall. Why? Because the games have such depth, such thought, and you really feel like you influence the world. If Bethesda sacrifice that for multiplayer, I'll be [&@%!]. Really, really [&@%!]. In a perfect world, we'd have unlimited dev time and money, and no grubby publisher trying to rush you. You'd be able to put everything the fans wanted in, and more. But it's not a perfect world. You can go play multiplayer somewhere else. TES has always been, and will always be, a single player game.

Side not in a radio interviw 62 minutes long they said, that spears and cross bows and what not, are to not needed to add, they have better things to add besides more weapons and races.TheNightFather wrote:Oh gawd. Re: Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
Nice post, and I agree. And although I like playing with the idea of some kind of co-op I just don't see it working well for some reason. Guess I'm a bit indifferent on the topic and honestly I probably shouldn't have posted in this thread as I have no real opinion in support or against any type of MP in TES games. I guess it's still interesting to see other peoples opinion on it though.TheNightFather wrote:Oh gawd. Re: Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
The way you put it, they also shouldn't fix all the massively broken aspects of the game, because spending time on it means the game would lose depth.Elegost wrote:No no no no no no no no no no!!!!!! Seriously, more and better working features is more important than another dungeon, race, quest or weapon. Though I suppose TES fans think otherwise, or else they'd say the game is a failure (at least until mods fix it) just like I'm saying.
It really seems like while they probably do have a lot of people in the moddeling/texturing/whatever-graphic-related department, when it comes to anyone who knows any math they seem to have less than they have for voice actors...

I'm unsure what your talkig about, are you talking about on same console or online?MasterRokon wrote:

If it's online then this will not work, as if they dont have drop in drop out the you cant play unless evrey one is there
and if its on the same console then theres the fact that 1st person most likely wont work (how small must the screen be for 4 pepole?)
online:
What if someone has to go? it has to be drop in drop out, what if the guy gose and kills evrey one?
As for what they where need, they would need to write a WHOLE new part for muitplayer, and thos are very very big. They would need to add new parts to the game like how they handle the other persons reaction to the world, do bountys for them go to you? Levlign system: dose it level with the main player? or the weakist? storgest?
And there are a lot more to add, all of this will take away what they could add to sigle player

Re: Multiplayer in Skyrim!!!
I think it could work. But Elder Scrolls doesn't need it. I don't think it should be Oh I'll come to your world, in your world where your people are, with your quests. I think it would make the game really easy at parts if a really powerful character came on to help you.
But if there were special 'instances' where 4 people could work together, perhaps in a WoW-like (BLASPHEMY) fashion. It could be fun if a heavy armour specced character, 2 DPS, and a healer were to attempt it.
But then there's a problem, do we make it TOTALLY optional. Do those who do it get any rewards, level ups, added bonuses? Because if they don't get any extra content then what's the point in having it?
But personally, I think Bethesda shouldn't pursue the route, they would endanger a really long-term fanbase. Elder Scrolls doesn't need it to work AT ALL. And it's a fun game without it. Maybe, in many years after Elder Scrolls XVI, they might opt for an MMO.
But right now it doesn't need it and I get a great community feel just by being part of the forums.
