Cheating to complete a Noble quest? (Dungeon Crawl Trouble)

Post by Yal »

EDIT: SOLVED :) - I just abandoned and used cheats get reputation back 8-)

Hi everyone,

I have recently picked up a Noble quest, from Queen Barenziah, to retrieve her family heirloom from a band of Orcs. I was lead to a dungeon, an "orc stronghold" type.

I have been here for hours last night and today, trying to find every last nook and cranny.

I felt like I've scrounged all of it, and so I said "screw it", and looked up any possible way I could cheat to get it. I even tried my hand at editing the files to somehow make the quest item appear, but it was so complicated and I didn't know if it was even possible...I was scared off.

I turned cheat mode on, but in the dungeon where the heirloom is supposed to be, all the Flags are FALSE, and the [ and ] keys only lead me to empty or random loot rooms.

Is there anyone who can help me? Is there a way to cheat to get the heirloom item somehow, or to hack to auto-complete the quest? Thanks you :) I feel like the quest is completely bugged and I can't find it at all.

The ONLY place I can think of it would be, is behind a door I found underwater, but I can't pick it or hit it open and it says "This house has nothing for you" when I try to open it. Also there is a brick wall somewhere, but clicking or hitting it does nothing.

I'm pretty sure that with this quest the item is just sitting on the floor of the dungeon, not being held by an enemy. The quest item might look like a dungeon decoration, rather than a normal treasure pile. Try the [ and ] again with that in mind. You could try existing and re-entering the dungeon to reset it -- new enemies will appear this way too.

Aye, thank you for the response.

I have tried such. Still nothing. I did forget to mention there was a trap door there. But it seems like it's just apart of the ground texture and clicking on it, and nearby objects don't trigger anything. Also Looking into the walls, there are nearby passages I cannot find a way to get to. I really am scared to drop it because I don't want to lose reputation with everybody. I fear that it will break me doing the main quest, and experiencing other cool parts of the game.

Is it possible to cheat the item into my inventory? Or to cheat the quest to make it auto-complete? Or to prolong the time period? I really am just done with this dungeon.

AFAIK there is no easy way to cheat the item into your inventory or auto finish the quest.

It's just a regular noble quest, it's not part of the main quest so it won't break that for you. Actually, you don't even need to do the main story quest that Barenziah offers, it's optional.

You will lose some reputation, but it's easy enough to regain it by doing more quests for them or other nobles in the region. And if you really wanted to, it would be easy to use a save game editor to hack your reputation back up. I think it's part of the DF experience to fail a few quests, there are really only a few that you should reload an earlier save if you fail: Main quests, and initiation quests into the Thieves or Dark Brotherhood or Vampires. Everything else is fine to fail now and then.

I completely just blew it off and got on with my life and now back on track with the main quest :)

However, I have a DOSBox bug that is preventing me from progressing. I will make a different post about it.

-SOLVED: Request closure :)-
