I lived in England for 9 months when I was a kid, and then back in the States in 3rd grade, I got kicked from the spelling bee for spelling "colour."

Those contests where kids go up and try spelling disproportionately long and difficult words such as "color".

Yeah, I know, you were prob. eight years old...
