Re: Pets
Daaaaw, Leilah, your kitty is too cute!
Here's a picture of my old man kitteh Oscar (who is 20-something years old and still going!).
And here's a picture of my cousins' cat Spike, who I just love! She's so darn fluffy, she has fur between her toes! It's too much!

Re: Pets
So much cuteness! I need another cat!
Incidentally: does anyone here have problems with other cats coming into their yards? And if so, how are they kept out? Wall spikes won't work, but while putting up barbed wire should do the trick, it's so darn ugly.

Re: Pets
Adorable pictures, Leilah and Avron! Hoshi is as lovely as you described- I love that his eyes are open only in one out of the four provided pics. The photos of Oscar and Spike are delightful as well; I'm happy to hear that the former is doing well despite his old age.
I trust you weren't seriously considering barbed wire as the solution to your cat problems, Leilah; assuming adoption isn't a realistic possibility, then a cat repellent might be the simplest alternative. Take a quick look at this website-

Re: Pets
Thanks for the link, Leyyuce. Unfortunately, those repellents are generally either not available here, or too expensive. The wire will be for on top of the walls, cats around here know all about wiry walls and don't even try to get up onto the wall if there's wire on top.

Re: Pets
I have no way to keep other cats out of my garden. My cat just protects it herself from 3 different tomcats around here.
It does suck, though, because some days she gets a little beat up and then she just sulks in her bed all day. :\
Was never a problem when I had a dog. -.-

Re: Pets
Hmm. I'd forgotten all about that simple solution: just get a bloody dog. But then I'd have to teach the cat and the dog to get along, and I'd have to keep the dog out of my vegetable patch... and also, then I'd have a dog. My brother's basset is pretty damn adorable, but dogs in general... not for me.

Re: Pets
I/my family have had lots of pets through the years. Oh my... dogs, cats, bunnies, ducks, hen, pigs, pet-mice, pet-rodents (of different sorts) etc (I live on a "farm").
Right now we have a dog. A sweet one at that too. Her name (and this has absolutely nothing to do with the terrible series of movies that is popular nowadays) is Bella. She is a black labrador. I think she is around 6 years now. She is all fine and strong although she had to go through some dental stuff not too long ago. Because of a lot of mice-trouble we are having at the moment we are soon to get two cats.
In the future I'd like to have a little dog, not a pug, but perhaps a boxer or something and I want to call it "Godzilla"

Re: Pets
Isn't he? He's our second boxer now. My favourite breed of dog. They're fairly lacking when it comes to sense though!

I just found an old picture of my cat. She's called Gwen, but everyone just calls her cat.

Oh one year old for certain! Our decorations will be put up on the 24th of December for the adrenaline rush.

Re: Pets
I have a new kitty! His name is Data, and he's six weeks old and adorable. He's sleeping on my shoulder right now. Hoshi doesn't like him much yet, but she's getting more and more curious about him, and less and less hostile.

Re: Pets
I have a 14 year old mixed breed doggie. We're not 100% sure what he has in him since we bought him in a Turkish restaurant
in Germany and the owners couldn't speak any English and very little German.
I'm pretty sure he has Shih Tzu in him. He's had quite an eventful life. He's lived in 2 countries, broke his back while traveling in an airplane, one of his eyes popped out (not fully obviously) and he has been chased by cows because he was an idiot and decided to chase them first

Now:
I really want a Boxer as my next dog
and obviously as a rider reaaaaaaaaaally want a horse, but can't afford to keep one
Been my dream ever since I started to ride (when I was 4-5).

Re: Pets
There are far, far too many adorable critters in this thread. It makes my heart melt and go "Daawwwwww."
Does anyone have problems with pets being jealous? I visited my significant other and I noticed his dog was a bit disappointed in my being here. Normally it's just the two of them so he seemed to be a bit put off by my presence. He ignored me half the time and then followed me to bed one night, probably to make sure I wasn't getting up to bother his master. He's so cute. I just wish he loved me. </3

Re: Pets
Jealous pets? Heck yes! I mean, not the two little cuties I have now (Hoshi's just a bit peeved if she sees Data getting attention, but they're both great with other people here), but my mom had this Siamese cat - he was the most lovable thing as long as he didn't have to compete with another cat or child for my mother's attention. One time, my brother (still little back then) was sitting on my mom's lap, and the cat came up to him and attempted to slap him out of the way... I'd suggest taking some treats for the dog, they should soften him up a bit.
