Re: Anyone feel...
It's understandable, I suppose. It IS the land of the Nords. Not many people wanna head up there due to it being really cold. And I'd imagine a lot of people would have wanted to leave once the civil war started, and only the most stalwart people and the Nords would have wanted to stay.

Re: Anyone feel...
What an abhorrent title for your thread. Try to make the "subject" actually relevant to the subject.
First, I will respond to the subject:
Yes. A quantity of people feel.
Secondly, I will respond to the content of the post:
I think that's sort of the point. Cyrodiil was central, and it was as much a home to all denizens of the Empire as the Imperials. Morrowind seemed to have an excess of Dunmer, so it's sensible that Skyrim has an excess of Nords. In strife, as well, other races are likely more involved with the matters of their own nations–Dunmer & Argonians in Morrowind/Black Marsh, Khajiits in their newly expanded Elsweyr.

I missed it here.

Indeed, other races tend to be less represented than Nords in Skyrim, but that just makes me feel more unique, which I like. Though I think Arotos summed it up nicely as to WHY we don't see a whole mess of other races in Skyrim.

Not much in the way of "warm sands" for cat people to walk on in frigid Skyrim.

Re: Anyone feel...
It was similar with Morrowind
You only saw Dunmers really
In Oblivion there was diversity because it was the central hub of the continent

Well The khajiit are not accepted by the Nords and Skyrim is alot different from their homeland and same with the Argonians.

Thank you for clearing this up. Skyrim isn't exactly the most accepting province in Tamriel, therefore mostly Man and Mer are regarded as equal to the Nords.Talamare wrote:It was similar with Morrowind

Muiri, in Markarth's 'Hags' Cure' is a Breton. Also a marriage candidate, though you have to do some Dark Brotherhood stuff to get her.Iamgoofball wrote:And I'm having some issues finding a Female Breton.Check-Nate wrote:that there is a lot less diversity in skyrim

Re: Anyone feel...
I think it comes down to not having enough PEOPLE period. Morrowind had so many places flooded with all kinds of people. Oblivion was less so, but still had a much greater amount of people than in Skyrim.
Oh, and I mean "People-people" not just "Mercenary" or "Bandito"
What makes it even worse in Skyrim is the people who will say one or two things total. I get that Oblivion and Morrowind had some rather pointless people that you could talk to, but at least it felt.... more alive. AND more diverse.
Skyrim's points of gathering and civilization feel so... small... and empty.
P.S.
I feel too.

I like the ratio, Khajiit are my favorite race, but I'm not about to pretend they'd get treated fairly in any other province outside of Elsweyr

Skyrim has same sex marriage, and allows necromancy.FrostMage79x wrote: Thank you for clearing this up. Skyrim isn't exactly the most accepting province in Tamriel, therefore mostly Man and Mer are regarded as equal to the Nords.
The real world is less accepting than this place, even if everyone is about as racist as Ghost.

You really think so? I'm still finding people I've never run into before in Whiterun.Ryuhza wrote:I think it comes down to not having enough PEOPLE period. There are a few places which feel really empty, Winterhold probably the most obvious, and maybe Windhelm too; It's got lots of people, but the city is just too damn big, so it feels relatively empty. (Also, contrary to the rest of the province, it has a large population of non-Nords
But Markarth, Solitude and Whiterun, and even Falkreath feel more alive to me than the cities in Oblivion, which [Apart from the Imperial City, which was split into a gajillion different cells] were empty, imo.
There are less named people out in the wilderness, no master Archery or Destruction trainers for you to go hunt down in the middle of big empty fields of grass, but I think that makes sense.

Re: Anyone feel...
It just feels as though the people in Skyrim are often just shells. There to spout one or two lines of dialogue, maybe offer you a quest, then never really speak with you again.
I usually kill those people.

Re: Anyone feel...
Well, isn't that how it was in Oblivion? How often would you speak to random npc 764 after you had completed her quest? Sure, you could always ask her about the latest rumors, and she'd start talking about mudcraps. Exciting, wasn't it?
I used to make polls, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

Re: Anyone feel...
I think Cyrodiil will probably be the best setting, because it's the centre of the Empire, and therefore will have the most diversity and contrast between wealth and poverty etc.

I'm just disappointed that no one has told me that they heard a rumor that I'm an idiot.

This, on top of most of the non-beast races -- aside from redguards and high and dark elves, of which there are understandably not many due to the fact that IT'S FRICKIN' COLD IN SKYRIM!Talamare wrote:It was similar with Morrowind

If they weren't nords, but instead dunmer or redguards, nobody would call them "racist".
