Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
I was trying to avoid this thread cuz its to early for me to start complaining, but the customing of things is very much lacked compared to oblivion. In oblivion i could get a much more unique (though less good looking) character, i wish for a more customing stuff. More options for difficulty than novice, adept, and what not, over the right OR left shoulder third person, a NPC creation thingy, so we can make our spouse or companion. A option for a house in the wilderness, adjusting ingame screen size, a scenic view for atleast 10 seconds when using the carriage, not 100% on this one myself but a co op sorta thing, i am a adventurer so i dont have to be alone with stagnant npc companions. A skill tree for unarmed, extra features to put on armor, a character model of you in your invo screen, to be honest i thought there was going to be more of a complete personal touch on your character, but no. Oh and the eyes [&@%!] me off blind, blackened, or red/blue that you can barely see, i was hoping for more eye colors and more hair colors i want females with pinkish hair.

Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
Here is my list:
-Arrows - i cant ever find a good, steady supply of arrows yet. No bow shop or anything! i havent even seen a daedric arrow yet, i doubt they are even in the game >.<
-Perks (Kinda) - I like the perks, but it seems like it reallly limits what options you get. idk hard to describe, just feels like something could be different. you cant get a bunch of perks. idk its wierd
-Bow Zoom- Stamina Drain?!?!?!? Really?!?!??!?
-Jumping - it feels kinda botched. like a somewhere inbetween of oblivions really high flying jumping, and fallouts 1 foot in the air jump. I think it needs tweaking
Ambient Cave Noise/Cave Sounds - Yes, i love it being a wonderful experience, but hearning nothing but dirt falling from the ceiling and flags fallping in the wind limits what i can hear of my enemies. hmpf
Besides these few minor things, this game is freaking awsome :]

Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
I have a few issues with the game, none gamebreaking, just annoyances. I will put them into major annoyances and minor annoyances. Also not this is for the XBOX 360, so some of these may not apply to your system.
MAJOR ANNOYANCES
1. Walking speed. REALLY, you move at a snails pace and when traveling and discovering places (something I really enjoy) it gets really tedious and time consuming. Yes there is a stamina bar, but it runs out and if you are running and happen to find a strong enemy and need a power attack, or need to run away, you are screwed.
FIX: Increase base movement speed by about 15%. No need to be The Flash when running, but a little faster rate.
2. Not being able to attack while jumping/falling/swimming. This can be a MAJOR issue for some people, and it is pretty annoying as I LOVED being able to jump down from a perch and whack something in the head with the largest blunt object I could find. There are enemies in the water, and no way to kill them while swimming?
FIX: Really easy, just let us be able to attack while jumping, even if it uses some of your stamina bar.
3. This is probably my biggest complaint. THE USER INTERFACE/MENU. According to early reports and details they said it was going to be a lot more intuitive over Oblivion. I actually feel the took 2 steps back with the new menu layout. There are a few good advancements in the UI, but for the most part I find it horrible to navigate and it looks second rate. OK, if you can hang in there this might be a little long read.
The way the quests are divided. In the quests menu you have basically 2 sets of quests misc. quests and ALL OTHER QUESTS. to get to the MISC. quests you have to select it, move to the right, then scroll down (with a highlight mark that can barely be seen) and select it. The other quests are just randomly scattered about with no rhyme or reason. If it were up to me, the quests would have been broken down into guild quest, main quests, and other quests, each having it's own sub-menu for easier selecting according to what you are in the mood to do. Also the lack of detail in the quest description seems like they got a little lazy with the design.
having a different button for the "log". Having to press "start" to bring up the save menu is fine, but the other thing such as you totals of the stuff you have done in this menu seems out of place. This should have been in with the quest part of the journal.
THE MAP! OMG the way this was done is AWFUL. It looks like a big cloud with random things placed on it. There is NO ROAD detail, and VERY little 3-d detail. It looks like the map was an afterthought to the developers. If they could've made a hybrid of the Oblivion map and Skyrim map then it would have been PERFECT. Having it show the roads and how they intersect along with the 3-d design would have been nice.
MINOR ANNOYANCES
1. JUMPING. If you go to 3rd person and watch your character jump they look mildly retarded. They bunch their legs up under their body and squat. Not to mention they have about 6 inches of vertical jump. Now I'm not suggesting going back to being able to jump onto a house like in Oblivion, but make it better looking and a little more bounce
FIX: Again add about 15% to the height/distance you can jump.
2. Shopping, buying/selling. This is filled with mixed emotions. I like how they did the way that shopkeepers initially have more money, but don't like having to wait 2 days for them to have more gold. Also how the stuff between you and the shopkeeper are separated. There needs to be a buy/sell option, or easier movement between the shopkeepers items and your own. Some trading stores have 10 different kinds of stuff to sell and you have to press/hold down until you get to your own goods.
FIX: Add a "hot key" to allow easier switching between shopkeeper/your items.
3. VERY limited inventory space, even when upgraded. I'm at level 19 and can pack under 400 weight. Even with the perk it only adds another 100 to your total you can carry. Oblivion had a cap set at 1510 carry capacity. The way I think they screwed up is by making the level system only be 3 things (magicka, health, stamina) WHERE IS STRENGTH? Does our characters not get stronger by swinging a warhammer killing all kinds of enemies?
FIX: Make it to where a combination of health/strength or stamina/strength is implemented. Now I know it kind of already is the strength/stamina now because stamina helps you carry more, but the power which you attack NEVER increases.

Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
Your carry cap. is increased by 5 every time you increase your Stamina by ten. Being that Stamina ought to be the main focus of any melee build (at least get it to 200), and the relative speed at which the armors (especially Light Armor) become weightless, carry cap becomes much less of a problem after a couple levels toward that end.3. It's the 31th of Heartfire and I just now noticed the fault in my character. If someone said something about it- but no one did. So I'm no longer pleased with my character. If I knew that, it'd be great, yeah. But not now.
Then there's always horses being in third person instead of first. I can't control the stupid horse without jumping off a cliff.
Love Skyrim otherwise, though. The things that annoy me annoy me a lot, but otherwise, noooope.
You mean the white-gold concordat. By the way the emporor is Titus Mede the 2nd. You're right the lore is a bit vague.

Wait, there's ROADS? When did this happen? I couldn't see any on the map so I was just going straight through the wilderness getting ambushed by sabre cats and ice wraiths.stormbringer wrote:THE MAP! The bounty system. Hate, hate, hate it!
As far as I know the crime stats shows your largest ever bounty and your total bounty. There is no way of knowing what your current bounty is unless you keep track of your bounty history so you notice when your total bounty goes up. And then you have no idea of which hold it applies to.
P.S. I realise it might be because I play on Xbox and the interface is very difficult to read so if there is a better statistic that I just havent seen please enlighten me.

In my eyes this is okay. Have you ever tried to shoot with a Bow? You need a lot of strenght to bend the bowstring. And if you do it fast over and over again, you loose very quickly stamina.Enigma1027 wrote: -Bow Zoom- Stamina Drain?!?!?!? Really?!?!??!?

I didn´t play the other TES-Games so i have no comparison, and i am really like Skyrim how it is at the moment.
The only thing i miss, is that you can´t disguise yourself. Mean...if you wear for example a Thalmor-Guardian-Uniform or something like that, it should make it easier to stay unsighted for the enemies and doing Thief-Quests more Undercover

This is very true. Archaeologists can tell whether or not a person was an archer or not due to their malformed bone structure. I can't remember the exact statistics but the strength of the average English archer was phenomenal. So losing stamina doesn't seem outlandish at all.h45e wrote:In my eyes this is okay. Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
I never played Skyrim yet but I don't like how they reworked the attributes and leveling systems in the game. I don't like the skills and skill perks system. Those were the primary things I loved about Morrowind and Oblivion but sadly, they've changed it. I also don't like the UI. I like how you can be anything(mage, assassin, knight) in the past games without to actually make a new character/save. I also like how you can be good at everything in the past games but sadly this game doesn't let me. I probably won't play the game and just mod the hell out of Oblivion and Morrowind.

Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
I didn't like being asked for an 'entry tax' at Riften's front gate, so I strolled away, and put a couple arrows down range at the two door guards. I failed to kill the one before they got near enough to spot me, so I killed 'em anyway and checked to see if I had a bounty. At the top of the Crime tab was "The Rift Current Bounty 1000", and I assume a list would have formed had I had bounties in other counties, though I'm not sure (I reloaded).RohanWarden wrote:The bounty system. TL;DR, check the top of your Crime tab, that might have the info. Though it might only apply to fresh bounties, or show up when you're in the county in which you're wanted, because I do, come to think of it, have a 40 gold bounty not attributed to a certain place... Hm.

Recognized a other thing i don´t like!
If you are in a "Event-Dialoge" means you can´t interrupt it, because its part of a quest or so...and you get attacked meanwhile, you can´t defend yourself and die in most cases.
Happend to me Yesterday, as i run away from the Riften-Guards to the forest. Opend a Wolftrap(Cage) and the wolf shapeshifted into a man, talkin to me....but meanwhile i got beatup by the guards, and had no chance to defend myself

The fact that all bandits wear the same [&@%!] for armor and can still beat me in the face because he now has himself a title I want to be Dragonborn Slayer and be able to wear my starting gear and kill people....
The fact that most enemies like to block and stay blocked until you finally drive the point home with a power attack to the face and then he decides he should remove the tail from his legs...
Also the fact random people are superbuff for no reason Im looking at you "Orc" in the Riften Watchtower

I don't like the fact that Bethesda trolled me into putting a non-recoverable perk point into Dragonsmithing. I got alotta dragon bone to move out of my front cupboard and the Markarth economy just can't keep up.
Most of the kids are total pricks. "Hey I thought adventurers were supposed to look tough." "Another wanderer come by to lick my father's boots." I understand the rationale behind not being able to kill them, but we should at least be able to tan their hides.
Radiant bounties.

The text. It's too small. Besides that... almost nothing. I say almost, because while I do have minor grievances, they're not really relevant. Like, I'd prefer to be able to mod on xbox, or I'd prefer grieves and chest pieces. I understand and accept why it wasn't done. What I'd prefer is a perfect game, but that's not possible.

Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
Oh, Skyrim. I love the game, I really do, but it doesn't hold me like Oblivion did.
Though I miss attributes, dislike the removal of the Major v. Minor system, hate the interface, there are two humongous gameplay and immersion issues that just destroy for me.
The pacing of the game is absolutely atrocious. It feels like all the questlines are too short, and begin either arbitrarily and jump to drastic, or force you into the ridiculously serious from the start.
An example of this is prevalent in my second complaint, the Dark Brotherhood.
Bethesda was aware of how immensely fond their fans were of the Dark Brotherhood, and I , for some reason, thought that they would strive to make it a highlight of the game. In the end, it was just a humongous disappointment.
Sorry, Bethesda. Y'done goof'd.

Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
I'm loving the game, but there are a few things that annoy me:
Container Inventory. Not only is it not sorted by type, but with a lot of gear in one container it goes into a scrambled mess of different clumps ordered alphabetically together, but not with each other. Also, on XBox, the X button when used in the player inventory section places the current item into the container; but in the container section, pressing X takes all the items from the container to personal inventory. So when you go home and stash loot, then go to take a potion or something and accidentally press X because you've just been using it to place single items, it actually grabs the entire contents and you have to go through it all over again to put most of it back again. Gaaah!
Getting Stuck. Twice already I've accidentally slipped off the side of a stair or ladder running up it and fallen between barrels/boxes and then couldn't move - at all. I'm on console, so I could do nothing but reload. Also, companions still seem to love standing in doorways blocking them - this has been a TES problem since Daggerfall, and still happens! At least this time round they move when you push them, but it's still annoying because it happens nearly every time I'm in a room in a house.
I Can't Get No Sleep! This one annoyed me in Oblivion, and unfortunately is exactly the same in Skyrim: passage of game time passes extremely fast in real time, and with the scarcity of usable beds it makes it really hard to find a place to sleep each night. I'm a roleplayer and try to sleep every night, but sometimes the game just makes it impossible. Some dungeons are deep enough and far enough from the nearest city that even setting out before dawn, going straight there without getting sidetracked, by the time I get out of the dungeon it's afternoon the next day. OK, I know I could just use the Wait function and pretend that it's sleep, but it just annoys me that there's no way to actually sleep without a bedroll and no way to carry a bedroll.

Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
You should read "The Great War", it really really clears it up more than anything so far. It's a pretty tough book to find, I think I found it inQwackie wrote:That Golden Whatsit (the thing with war and elves) being so vague. What happened, why, and who the heck is the emperor now? Also- the overall cluelessness I have with the new lore. I made my Bosmer character a Stormcloak, not knowing that the ban of Talos worship was caused by the elves. If I'd known that, it'd make sense.

Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
Here is my BIGGEST problem: The length of the quest lines. There. That's it. The Dark Brotherhood, for instance, is DRAMATICALLY worse than the one in Oblivion. I mean, the quest line just...sucks. It's just:
Also, the main quest line is just laughable.
Those are the only two I've done so far, but it seems to be a pattern. That's really been eating at me.

Re: Things you DON'T like about Skyrim
Length of quest lines, the pacing is too fast, i mean, 3 quests to be a member of the circle in the companions, they cut back the spells way too much, though i do like the differnt types of destruction magic, like the jets and the runes and walls etc, no custom spells, no bound armor, stuff all summons, UI is too "modern" for a medieval game, dragons too weak, kill scenes forcing you into 3rd person most of the time, too "falloutish" and the game world is too small, and fast travel...i dont like fast travel, i like proper emirsive transportations like in morrowind, they had the carriges, improvement over oblivion there, but id still prefer there too be lots of travel options like in morrowind
