Any one else loving the books so far?
I never really read any books in Oblivion but I really wanted to be immersed in this game so I read every book I see. Wow! I missed out in Oblivion (If they were like the books in Skyrim).
I love that some of the books keep you wanting to know more but then talk about another book that finishes the story and that you can't finish that story until you find that book. Your actually on a look out for it now.
Is anyone else really enjoying the books so far in this game?

Re: Any one else loving the books so far?
I'm loving the books. I did read quite a few in Oblivion, and initially promised myself that I would read every book I came across in Skyrim, word for word, page by page. However, I have found that there are groups of books that are genuinely useful (without being skill books), books that are funny or entertaining (Scotti, anyone? Reckon he's named after one of the Beth team...) but also books that are a bit dry and not all that informative (some of the history stuff - and I love history!)
So, I read most of the books, skim through some of them when I find they're a bit dry, and just enjoy the whole experience, like the cooking and other stuff that goes on.
By the way, found a random note with some potion ingredients on it. Because of the new "suck it and see" approach to alchemy I can actually try it out for real. I wonder if there are any more?

A lot of the books in this game are here since Morrowind.. so by now I've read a lot of them haha. Try finding some of the rarer stories, like the Mystery of Princess Talara series, Biography of the Wolf Queen series, etc. At least those were the rare ones in Morrowind.

Books from Morrowind from Oblivion from Skyrim. And a bunch of new books just for this game, always a good distraction. And easier to store then on shelves this time around, too!

I'm a book hoarder. I keep coming across them with the intention of reading them later. I did however enjoy the ones I've read so far. The Three Thieves, and Withershins stick out.

I always read them books. Some I save for later, sure, but my houses are always stuffed with them.

Re: Any one else loving the books so far?
I haven't given much time to the new Skyrim books........ but my favorite of all time is Chance's Folly.....
In Morrowind u could read that book then go to the tomb mentioned in the book and see the aftermath........ that was different from any game i've ever played... I've seen 2 copies of that in Skyrim.......
I guess the Red Eagle storyline in Skyrim is similar.......idiot that i am took awhile to figure how to get in that cave.........

Re: Any one else loving the books so far?
I'm just loving all the new Lore contained within said books. I normally read books on the Wiki though, but I collect them in-game. The Wiki just gives me the ability not to have to turn through those tiny pages, and I can copy, paste and annotate as I please.

Not just books but journals and notes, some of the notes you get from the courrier have YOUR NAME on them!!!! Sure you still can't talk other that shout and grunt and NPC's never refer you to your name. Also I came across a dead merchant's wife and found a journal on her so I took it to read it.

What's really frustrating is when they reference books that don't exist in game. Ex: The Life and Times of the Nerevarine by Hasphat Antabolis. I want to read this so much.
Do you mind? I'm doing the fishstick. It's a very delicate state of mind.

Re: Any one else loving the books so far?
The new books are great. They've written a lot of new stuff while not so obscure as the series of saryoni verses in Morrowind. The books actually started appearing in Daggerfall. I forget if you pick them up as items or if you could only read them from bookshelves. Morrowind was when the number of books exploded especially the Tribunal related books. "The Real Barenziah" books are definitely pg-13. Yes I'm an old fogey gamer. having played the original Arena all through mainly because I wanted to depose Jagar Tharn as he kept taunting you in a short vga cut scenes everytime you got a piece of the puzzle in each province.

Re: Any one else loving the books so far?
The books are great, but even when they tell you something, it doesn't give you the knowledge that is directly in the book, like the alchemist skill book that explains some of the ingredients in Skyrim.

Yes! All the written material is really good.
Especially the stuff that includes the player's name.
