Annoying horses..

Post by dubq »

The novelty of my horse joining me in battle wore off in Obilivon, after about the 3rd time.. Is there a way to stop them from doing this? Or to stop them from fast traveling with you? I have Shadowmere right now so killing him is proving more difficult than with a regular horse..

It's just so annoying. They get in the way. Run into battle and blow your cover when you're trying to do some stealth.. Ugh!

If you want to kill Shadowmere, ride her over the side of a cliff and survive the fall.
If you dont want to kill Shadowmere and instead place her somewhere, ride to a horse stall, good place being whiterun horse stables. Park her in the stall then buy a horse and ride that horse. Shadowmere will stay put.

If you want to know how I know how to kill Shadowmere it's because I discovered that on accident. I survived... she didnt

Mind me adding to this, looking for a good answer.

Post contain spoilers.

I'd like to try out several horses, but with Frost I don't know how smart that is, if I also want to keep Frost. Now, AFAIK most if not all horses return to their original location (stable), does that mean Frost will return to Black-Briar Lodge?

Also. I found a free horse on top of mountain next to Skyborn Altar. If I grab that horse, then abandon it for another one. Where will it go?

To really nail the answer. I could also get a free horse from Fort Neugrad. Would that horse also return to it's original location?

All stolen horses return to original location is that how it is? If I steal that horse on north side of whiterun wall, would it return to that place?

Them horses are truly annoying yea, fleeing from one foe only to run into two others and start attacking them instead... And why do dragons love horses so much, It's not like they loot them for the meat...

I would also love a answer to: Why do UESP network give me the slowest bandwidth ever? It ain't even fit for ISDN. It's only UESP, I use this site like 5% of what I would do with normal speed. Contributing to wiki with this? Ye right, you try 3m timeouts and perhaps if it first work it's 80 b / s. Yes, b / s, not even kb / s .

Edit: Not sure which one of these is driving me more nuts :?

Looking for Fort mod with stables and a "bind horse to stable" function

Interesting about the buying another horse thing.. So if I kill that second horse, Shadowmere just won't show up the next time I fast travel?

It'll stay until you mount it again.
