What Can You Enchant?
I am currently playing with a Mage character, using almost exclusively magic for everything. I have a robe, a mask, and a ring with the Fortify Magicka Regen enchantment on them, but the game will not allow me to enchant an amulet or boots with the same enchantment.
I have been trying to enchant boots or shoes with the same enchantment, but the game won't let me. Are boots/shoes even enchantable? Or can boots only receive certain enchantments?
Is there a rhyme or reason to what items can be enchanted with certain enchantments? A ring can fortify magicka, but not magicka regen. Same with armor.
Anybody know?

That was the correct guess.Musicman247 wrote:Or can boots only receive certain enchantments?

Re: What Can You Enchant?
This has been my experience as well. I can only enchant Fortify Attribute effects to Armor, and only Fortify (Skill) Damage to Gloves/ Gauntlets, despite gaining the effects by disenchanting a pair of boots and a helmet, respectively.

Goodness, you're right. I thought for sure the method I posted was correct, sorry for the misinformation.Wolfie wrote:That is not true, I used a ring of health to ecnaht Elven armour, unless it only aplyys to amour.. but i think your wrong
I've been disenchanting things to see the results, and now I'm just as confused on whether or not there's a pattern. It seems that chest pieces are the only ones that have +some skill and +some stat (magicka, health, stam), but I'm not even 100% sure on that.

Re: What Can You Enchant?
You're half right, if you read my post. I got my Fortify Two Hand Damage by disenchanting a helmet, but I can only put it on gloves/ gauntlets.Goodness, you're right. I thought for sure the method I posted was correct, sorry for the misinformation.
I got my Fortify Health from a pair of boots, but can only enchant Armor/ clothes with the effect.
So, it looks like certain effects are designated to certain pieces, but you don't need to get effects from certain pieces to enchant those effects to those pieces (disenchant boots to enchant other boots) and in fact, in some cases you can't.

Re: What Can You Enchant?
Also, what's up with items being less enchanted as you level up the skill?
At a pretty low level I was enchanting iron daggers with Absorb Health and they were worth 700 gold. Now I'm a level 30 or so in enchanting and they only have a base value of about 550 gold.

Re: What Can You Enchant?
I've been heavily using the enchanting skill lately. S far, here's what I've discovered by disenchanting and enchanting.
Boots can only be enchanted to fortify sneak or carrying capacity.
Head gear, necklaces, and rings can be enchanted to fortify magika regeneration, magika/health/stamina levels, and other skills like archery.
Armor can also be enchanted to fortify health or other stats I believe.
The best way to figure this stuff out is to disenchant a lot of things so that you have all the effects available. That way, when you select a certain item to enchant you'll be able to see all of the possible enchantments you can do on it.

Found a Fort Unarmed enchant that can go on rings, ammys, and gauntlets. Good news for our Khajjit brethren.

Re: What Can You Enchant?
Fortify one-handed worked on gauntlets, boots, amulet and ring for me, I believe. However, when I attempted to apply resist magic to my armor and helmet it was unavailable which [&@%!] me off to no end.

Re: What Can You Enchant?
Fortify Archery can be applied to helmet, gauntlets, ring, and maybe necklace (sorry, not 100% sure on the latter). I have noticed that Fortify 1H and 2H can be applied on boots, but I am not sure if that is in addition to all the slots available for archery or if one of them is not available to compensate.
Fortify Smithing can be applied to chest, gloves, ring and necklace but not boots or helmet.
Resist magic is, IIRC, restricted to shields, but you can have resist fire, frost or shock on boots.
As for chest, you can apply fortify light armour on it (maybe fortify heavy armour too, but I haven't got this enchantment so I can't verify).

Re: What Can You Enchant?
Here's a question I haven't seen answered yet:
When you get the double enchantment perk, does it let you put another enchantment on an item you already enchanted, or does it only work with new enchantments?
Also, do you use two soul gems for two enchantments or do you get both with one gem?

Only works on new enchantments, only takes one soul gem.Musicman247 wrote:Here's a question I haven't seen answered yet:
