Whatever happened to Hadvar?

Hopefully someone can tell me if I see him again or where he is right now without spoiling it too much for me. He's the guy at the beginning you escape with if you decide to go with him instead of the other prisoner. I'm at the point just after the "throat of the world" in the main quest, and I went to join the imperials in solitude and he wasn't there ):

He was a decent fellow.

He appears in some of the Imperial Legion quests.

Wait! so does that mean if you do not choose him at the start that you miss out on more than some blacksmith loot?

No he is still there

I dont know about him but the other one gose to the inn at riverwood when not on quest

when you get out you can pick either side, this requires (as far as i know) for you to pikc their side

He does indeed, however, after the second-to-last fort conquest, I've yet to see him again. Actually, I have seen him, but it was travelling with a noble along the road. I've concluded the Civil War but not the main quest and I haven't seen him since that last time, and I haven't stumbled upon a location he stays at.
