It will; right after my play-through of the main quest I would of given the game a rating of I'd say around 8.5, but everytime I play it I like it more and more.mulder wrote:Skyrim - 9 Still need the time to really tell if this game is better than Oblivion, but so far it is very good.

Re: What would you rate skyrim/oblivion?
Skyrim:9.98/10 I love the game so far, but minus .01 because i haven't had enough time to play through even the MQ (35 hours spread between 4 chars) and minus .01 because i have a few pet peeves about it like no custom spells and no CS yet.
Oblivion:9/10 in comparison to Skyrim, 10/10 not compared. I really loved it, started on xbox, moved to the PC and couldn't put it down. Over 400 hours poured into it, just vanilla, and easily double with all the mods I had. And the 10 voice actors on this is a HUGE leap from Morrowind, so please stop using that as leverage to grade Skyrim higher. Seriously not pointed at anyone in this thread!
Morrowind: 8/10 I loved this game, started on it, but I really don't like the combat system and little to no voice acting. The lore was amazing and the depth was too much, but I feel as though I hardly scratched the surface. Once I can finally put Skyrim down for a minute, I'm gonna play it again since I have the Steam version.

Re: What would you rate skyrim/oblivion?
Skyrim: 8/10.
Great graphics, very nice combat pacing, I'm glad to be rid of Athletics and Acrobatics to be honest, I love the perk system, and I love Smithing, but the settlements are too tiny (you call those cities?), the NPCs too few, I sorely miss the Spell Maker, the UI is lacking in many aspects (I'd like to see a timer for my active spell effects somewhere on the screen, make it optional if you will; items not organized in categories in containers; it gets hard to choose an option from the menu from time to time; etc.).
All in all I love it, but I'm not too sure about the replaying factor.
Oblivion: 9/10
Much nicer (more fluid) combat action than previous titles. I don't mind that it felt so 'generic' - it felt just right for Cyrodiil, the Imperial province, and the story had good depth. However I do mind that there is less dialogue content, even though it was all acted. I don't care about voice acting that much, if it means less content, to me that's definitely a minus. But the big flaw is the levelling system where you have to min/max your skilling up carefully or the enemies will scale to be too tough for you.
Morrowind: 9.5/10
Deep and vast. Very unconventional, even alien, so that it was very interesting even for a long-time fantasy lover who has seen it all. And that's saying something, in my book. The one big flaw is the combat action that goes from pause to frenetic speed especially with enemy spellcasting. But it's not such a big problem once you get enough defenses (and chameleon
).
Daggerfall: 5/10
Well, since we went astray further back than the original question, I might as well be thorough and go on to Daggerfall!
Back in the day I found this game to be revolutionary. A game in which you could make not just your own potions and items but your own spells! Huge, life-like, but repetitive. Finding the scripted quests in the vast sea of seed-based random ones took some effort. Combat action was even clunkier than Morrowind's (yes, Morrowind was decidedly an improvement!) but the one big flaw here is the bugginess, and this one is fatal. I never managed to finish it as three different attempts all ran into save file corruption too deep to be remedied.

Re: What would you rate skyrim/oblivion?
Skyrim - 9.75. This game is amazing and I'm glad to have a reliable timesink.
Oblivion - 9 - Oblivion was also amazing and I sank hundreds of hours into it, though Skyrim just blows it out of the water.
Morrowind - 9.25 - Morrowind was way ahead of its' time and I find it to really underappreciated, just because it's a little older.
