Lord_Monkfish wrote:@Pandamatak I'd leave it Expert for now - the game has definitly gotten more difficult for me. Still very manageable, but I'm having to be much more cautious and tactical. My companion is dying much more often (I really want to know if there is a difference between different companions besides their combat style e.g. are some companions stronger and less 'squishy'? Are companions that you pay for better than the 'free' ones? (btw I don't mean 'companions' as in the guild)). I'm absolutely awful against melee damage - I got hit so rarely leveling up that my light armour skill is very low. Without my melee companion and conjured creatures I'm dead in seconds! I'm also finding that whilst I could almost one shot enemies with a stealth shot, it's doing considerably less damage now. Time will tell how things will go from here!
What do you mean companions? I know there's a conjure familiar spell but I've only seen my friend use it and it summons a wolf. Can you change the type of familiar that is summoned? What does "free" mean?
Oh, and same here. I usually get 2 hit-killed by frost trolls and 1 hit-killed by dragon breath. As a marksman I've found that buy always have the top equipment you can actually deal a lot of damage because every point of damage counts - an extra point on the bow and an extra point on the arrow is a total of 4 points extra damage. I also have a really strong poison (something like 50 damage) in case I get into a sticky situation.

The cap is 70 as well, I think, so we still have a lot of improved versions to see and fight.
I thought the level cap was 50? But yeah Kris, companions are amazing. I honestly think my favorite is my horse, because that thing isn't scared of anyone, and he'll take on 3 wolves to protect me and come out on top. He also chased down a bandit with a warhammer and ruined his day.

Not at all. Damn those Centurions...I play on expert. I get killed in two hits by almost anything and I would have died countless of times if my awesome Lightning Bolts didn't stun targets.
I used to make polls, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

This. Only it was Frost Wraiths, Saber Cats, Master Vampires, and thick packs of quest mobs. Plus I stumbled upon some rather nasty places while dungeon diving that I don't intend on returning to any time soon.
Honestly, it's been pretty easy on the default setting as a heavy armor sword-and-board warrior. The only real threat is mages with high burst damage, but between potions, shield bash, and line of sighting, it's manageable. Level 27, and haven't had to equip any magical gear or use spells/powers. Full ebony kit (Legendary) does pretty well on its own.

I mean other NPC's you can get to join you and follow you about helping you with questing and killing. I think the game actually calls them followers. Some followers join you free of charge, usually by helping them with a quest or by becoming the thane of a town/city. However, in some inns you'll see NPC's that say you can pay them to join you (usually 500G from what I've seen). I was wondering whether certain followers are stronger than others.
As for the difficulty... I'm still playing on expert and the game still feels very easy to me. There have been a few hard moments but they are far apart. I'm definitly cranking the difficulty up to the top difficulty on my next playthrough. Maybe it's just the particular build I'm using?

I've already upgraded to master difficulty but I've found myself shamefully reaching for the difficulty bar every time a dragon appears. Hopefully I won't have to actually change it
I have found Skyrim challenging, but fortunately not too challenging. My playstyle is sword, shield and light armor, and I put some extra attention to "magic armor" (magic resistance) to be able to fight with spellcasters. What I like is that when you move on, gain perks and better equipment, enemies that felt challenging earlier become easy, and enemies impossible earlier become killable. All in all, at this moment, Skyrim feels enjoyable game.
The game seems to get much harder the further you get. I'm level 30 and while I can kill a group of regular enemies (like bandits) easily, the scaled dungeon monsters give me hell, and I'm playing on Adept difficulty.
man, im not gunna sit here and lie to yall but im playing on novice (only cause its my first playthrough) and there are a few things that realllllly gave me some very serious rough times. Sadly dragons arent one of them, but again im on novice.
1-Dragon priests : am i just like alot more terrible than i thought i was or are these guys just freaking hard to kill?
2- Azuras Quest
Spoiler:
After you get the broken azuras star, you go into this other realm and kill the guy who broke the star. He has 3 dremora mages who, to put it very bluntley, shoot these extremeley powerful fireball explosion spells that destroy me. Ive tried 4 times and still cant kill more than 1 before dying. Havent beat quest yet because of this
3- Storm Call : I dont remember the name of it, but the dungeon by riften where you get the first storm call word took me about 2 hours to get through. i died twice, and that was because i kept getting super over run by draugrs (who im starting to really dislike)
I am on level 15 playing on adept as a pure destruction/alteration mage since the start. For some reason, things have gotten really easy for me. Just have to figure out which spell to use, shock on magic users for example. Today I managed to kill a Hagraven, who I believe start out at level 20
