Info on Leveled items/NPCs
Since almost all people here don't have a clear idea (myself included) of how the leveling system works in Skyrim, this is the thread for you. Here we can all discuss our thoughts and new info on the leveling system until the wiki comes out with more details. I don't really have much to offer, so I'll leave that up to you guys. Remember, thoughts are welcome, flaming and excess-arguing is not. By all means, feel free to disagree with another person, but please do not insult them on their opinion, saying that it's wrong. Go!

Re: Info on Leveled items/NPCs
So far it seems like the different creatures, NPCs and items all have a set level range like wolfs might have a level range of 1-10 or something. So if you're between level 1 and 10 those wolfs will have a higher chance to spawn at a spawn point, the higher you're level in that range the more chance the wolf will be of a higher level. If you go back to the same spot at a level outside that range there would be a higher chance that the things that spawns would be something from a higher level group. But even at high levels there is still a chance that wolves will spawn. The same applies to items and such, you might find a pair of iron boots in a cave at level 5, but if you go back at level 20 there might be orcish boots.

Re: Info on Leveled items/NPCs
The first thing I noticed is that in all things the game seems to consider your Skill level more than your general level.
With my Nord warrior, I had gotten Archery pretty high, but was only level 5. I found an Elven bow on a desk in a bandit camp, but I didn't see them in shops untill I could craft them myself (sometime after I hit 20)
Took a level 2 Breton to the same place, found a Revenant Imperial Bow instead. As a Breton, my Conjuration was pretty high compared to my other Skills, so I highly doubt finding a bow that used a Conjuration Spell was a coincidence.
Spammed dagger smithing to get to Elven with said Breton. Only level 7, but all of a sudden every shopkeeper sells Refined Moonstone.

I think this could be right. On my one handed character I found an Orcish mace at level 3. Also could you please tell me where you found this bow? Making a thief/archer next and wouldn't mind a decent bow.Akiraka wrote:The first thing I noticed is that in all things the game seems to consider your Skill level more than your general level.

Valthiem Towers my good sir. Two towers, connected by a bridge straddling the Whiterun River, occupied by a couple bandits.CriminalScum wrote:I think this could be right. To get there, leave Whiterun and follow it's road East, as though you were going to Ivarstead. You'll come to it at the narrowest point between the two mountains flanking the North and South of the Whiterun River; The Throat of the World, and a small unnamed range that stretches South from Lake Yorgrim.
If you look on your map, follow the river East from Whiterun. Valthiem is settled right at the narrowest spot between the Throat and that little range.
The bow itself is near the top of the Southern tower, sitting on an end table.
