DLC Speculation
^Go ahead, speculate.^
I know it's early, but it's gonna happen sooner or later! [Possible Spoilers]
I just wanted to hear your ideas on future DLC possibilities based on your experiences having played the game.
Now to start, I feel there may be an extension on the Thalmor/Empire war. I think that it could be reignited in a future DLC, or at least increased tension. This could occur after the civil war with the Empire if they won or if the Stormcloaks won, they could be stopping a Thalmor invasion. I say this for various reasons.
- Thalmor and Empire/Skyrimian tension is definitely there in game and could be most certainly exploited and extended upon.
- Also, another comes from the Strategy guide, and I quote after the civil war endings "The sons and daughters of Skyrim will rejoice once more ... with the Thalmor looking on from the shadows". It says this for both endings.
This makes me definitely believe that increased Thalmor presence is a future DLC.
Now over to you!

Re: DLC Speculation
I'm not going to speculate on DLC content, but we all know that DLC/expansions are a certainty. This game stands a good chance of earning GoTY, which means a special GoTY edition down the road, which practically demands added content.

Re: DLC Speculation
All I hope for is an addition to the family system, such as having a kid or at least adopting one. I really thought it was going to be in there from the start. It probably won't get added anyway, but it should.

You guys might be interested in this thread, there are a lot of good, and logical ideas in there. But who knows, Bethesda might do something totally crazy too.

Re: DLC Speculation
I want to see a High Rock expansion. Makes the most sense. High Rock is directly adjacent to Skyrim, and would provide enough content and new areas to cover a full Shivering Isles/Bloodmoon-tier expansion. I'd also like to see a small Solstheim expansion that adds the island and a couple of quests. It wouldn't be difficult to do.
Of course neither of these things will probably happen.

Re: DLC Speculation
High Rock would be awesome. As would the Black Marsh or Elswyer. It would also be cool to travel across the sea to Akavir or some place else outside of Tamriel but on Mundus.
I don't think the Thalmor element would be present because previous bits of expansion content have not focused on the main story line of the game proper. (no one in Blood Moon cares that your the Neverine, for example)

Eh, I don't know. If they were to do something on the Akivir I'd hope that it is in an entirely new game instead of just a DLC...FrostyInferno016 wrote:Akivir, anyone?

Re: DLC Speculation
I will say with almost complete certainty, do not expect another province as DLC. That would be a little too much to ask for, IMHO, and Akavir would certainly be too much to ask for. The most we can expect from either an additional province or continent is a small fraction of it.

Re: DLC Speculation
I don't think another province in unreasonable, although I'm not expecting it. According to the map of Tamriel, I think size-wise Oblivion compared to the Shivering Isles would be pretty similar to Skyrim compared to Summerset Isles or Highrock or Elsweyr, but I feel like Elsweyr and Valenwood would be together in a future game.OblivionDuruza wrote:I will say with almost complete certainty, do not expect another province as DLC. I'm not sure what you mean by those size comparisons
. Skyrim is about the same size as Summerset, and a little bigger than High Rock and Elsweyr, however, the game worlds are not to scale. Technically, Cyrodiil is fairly larger than Skyrim, but as far as in-game they are about the same size in square kilometres.

Re: DLC Speculation
IMO, High Rock would be just big enough for DLC, but no too big where it would be totally out of the question.

The Shivering Isles are roughly a quarter of Cyrodiil's size, High Rock is over half to two thirds of Skyrim's size ...

Elsweyr is probably slightly less than half the size of Skyrim, while the Shivering Isles is probably a third the size of Cyrodiil. Highrock would be pushing it, but still this is BethesdaOblivionDuruza wrote:The Shivering Isles are roughly a quarter of Cyrodiil's size, High Rock is over half to two thirds of Skyrim's size ...

Re: DLC Speculation
I don't think it is unlikely at all really. I could wager there Will be SOMETHING to do with Thalmor. There is so much that could be done around them. And judging by their fallout 3 expansions, I think campaign expansion is highly plausible.BvBPL wrote: I don't think the Thalmor element would be present because previous bits of expansion content have not focused on the main story line of the game proper. And regarding high rock, the time it would take to make something of that size, might aswell wait for a new game.

Re: DLC Speculation
Where are you getting this "third of the size of Cyrdoiil" business from. It's roughly a quarter of the size:
The Wiki wrote:The expansion revolves around the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath, and is set in the Shivering Isles - the exotic and strange landmass located in his plane of Oblivion. The Isles are roughly a quarter of Cyrodiil's size

Re: DLC Speculation
Maybe Elsweyr, but I'm not sure if Bethy would want to change the feeling of the game by including a region that has a polar opposite climate to Skyrim.

Re: DLC Speculation
While I would love multiple Provinces, etc. I doubt that Bethesda would actually create a DLC pack that added a new one, simply because it's not fantastic business strategy, IMHO, but also because they just don't seem to do it.
However, on your last point, I wouldn't rule something out just because it was a polar opposite. Bethesda loves to mix things up from game to game and DLC to DLC. Look at Morrowind and Bloodmoon, or Oblivion and the Shivering Isles, Bethesda has even come out and said that they like to change gear from release to release.

Seconded
. The beauty of the situation is that Bethesda is sure to pull something beautiful and unexpected out of the hat. Who would have predicted the Shivering Isles? Not me for sure, and it turned out to be fantastic.

I don't think we will get a full country they will probably just give you a little taste of it and limit you to a sheograth size land mass inside of it

Re: DLC Speculation
Mmhmm, I would rather have the other Provinces as games themselves.
They've already done High Rock, Cyrodiil, Morrowind, and Skyrim...though the other Provinces don't look all that appealing to me (at least as an entire game). I would like to see High Rock redone, but as it's own game. The cities were always quite interesting.
As for the DLC, I suspect either something relating to the Thalmor, or something out of left field (like the Shivering Isles).
