Dragons, NPCs, and You!

Post by benzep9524 »

I have had these few questions ever since I learned that dragons would be able to attack towns. First off, will you encounter dragons if you completely disregard the main plot? Can important or unique NPCs die during dragon attacks? What does that do to the associated quest? Is there any way to stop dragons from barbecuing your favorite village? There's no doubt in my mind that Skyrim will be a fantastic game, but I can't help but worry about these things.

most npcs, go inside as soon as the dragon is "spoted" which is long before he gets to the town, and they go inside, I've seen some stay but they tend to be unkillable.

Lydia is very helpful against dragons. Yes, Lydia is. <3
To see the world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.

If you totally disregard the main quest then yes, there won't be any dragons flying about. Similar to how Oblivion gates were handled; there was only one at the beginning, and more come later. Villages only get attacked when you're there, so try to kill them quick. Villagers run inside before the dragons can kill them. Well most anyway.

There are standard dragons, yes, but apart from that, there are also a fair number of named dragons that don't necessarily have plot significance, but mostly just show up and destroy certain places.
Because there's no fun to be found in being normal.

I've had a dragon attack me at the main gates to Falkreath. The guards tried to help and after it was dead a whole load of townspeple ran up to its bones and stood in front of it remarking how amazing it was that I just killed a dragon, lol.
