Don't install the game. The graphics are so much better when not installed.
Heres why:

Re: Note to Xbox players
Dear lord, not again.
"We've seen a few reports of certain textures temporarily scaling down on the Xbox 360, and not scaling back up."
Typical Bethesda double-speak. "...a few reports..." probably means several thousand. Remember when they explained Oblivion's ABomb Bug affected "isolated cases" or something similar, while in reality it applied to every copy of every disc for PCs and both applicable consoles. A 100% game-ending failure they never bothered to fix.
Also, how can the issue be "temporary" when it's qualified as "not scaling back up" ?
The bigger (unspoken) issue here, at least for me, is how could the pre-release testing and polishing have been so thin and skimpy as to allow something so basic to get through?
I hope Bethesda steps up to bat in good faith and starts releasing effective patches (band-aids).

Re: Note to Xbox players
Eh, I'd rather have worse graphics than worse immersion from a noisy Xbox.
This honestly bothers me little, particularly since I've encountered no game-breaking or even quest-breaking bugs.

I never have this problem with my PS3....

Is this a Dagger which I see before me, The handle toward my hand, Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still. Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible. To feeling as to sight! - Macbeth

Re: Note to Xbox players
I played quite a few hours with the game installed before i read this thread, now i un-installed the game but am noticing nothing different. If there is a difference, it's minor, i think i might just re-install and save my disc-drive some wear and tear, put up with a few inferior textures until a patch inevitably drops.

Re: Note to Xbox players
i played for about an hour from disc, it froze up on me once and there was a bit of judder.. so i installed it, and i havent noticed any difference to the looks, tho i hadn't had much game time
but if the patch does improve things then i will have an even bigger grin on my face when i play this game
