When I used to play Oblivion, I greatly enjoyed my time in the thieves guild. Although they stole things from people, it always seemed to be more about the "honor" than about the gold. It reminded me of Robin Hood and his Merry Men a bit, and I never thought I was hurting any other characters too badly. But In Skyrim, the thieves guild (from first impressions) seems to be *all* about the gold. There is no pride or honor in being a thief, it's just about getting rich quick. I was wondering if anyone knew *without spoilers please* how things go in the guild? How does it affect your standing with other people or in the world as a whole? Is there a Fame/Infamy sort of thing as in Oblivion?
Maybe it's just me, but the whole "Dragonborn" thing has left me with a taste of -destiny- and I almost feel like I should live up to the name and be a good and influential character in this new world. (very cheesy, i know, it's just a game). So if anyone could help me with this "moral dilemma" of sorts, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Aww cmon dude... I wait this long for a reply and this is all I get? Boo >= I. Ill tell you what you want to know though: The thieves guild is located in Riften. if you want a marker to lead you, grab the floating gem in Dragonskeep in Whiterun and youll get a quest directing you there. Once you enter riften, the first guy you talk to in the city can tell you about how to join. Good luck.

There was a floating gem in Dragonsreach?
To see the world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.

Re: The Thieves Guild and Karma in Skyrim
They are similar to a gang, all they care about is gold, respect, and reputation. Their excuse for not allowing murder is "its bad for business" not "we are thieves not murderers".

I heard that the questline involves you bringing honour back to the guild.
