Little things I love about Skyrim

Post by Sloady »

  • Enemies fall to the ground after getting hurt badly, and beg for mercy
  • Every now and then I receive a little letter from an anonymous friend.
  • No two dungeons are the same
  • The way certain enemies become aggressive as you move closer, but back off when you leave
  • The feeling of "What the hell to do next?"
  • The way Fus Ro Dah kicks up snow when you use it
  • The way your ward "breaks" when used against a spell too powerful.
  • The music
  • The inventory
  • The way you can read all the writing

What are the other little things you love about Skyrim?
I'm on a rollercoaster that only goes up

The realistic harvesting, the Aurora at night, the dynamic snow, drifts, and fog; The different voices for members of the same race and sex, the pink argonian females (!), Fluffy Khajiit, M'aiq, The College, dragon fighting, shouts, Shouting "WULD!" in town and freaking out the guards, then acting indignant when they tell me to stop, the woman who says my black and red skinny argonian female is pretty (she is), the realistic conversations NPC's have, telling Bards to shut up, brawls, woodcutting, smithing, fishing, you can see underwater (almost too clearly), the flowing rivers, the grabbing is better, the moving containers...

And that's my short list :)

People asking if they cant have stuff you drop.
People asking me if I'm sick (both my eyes are blind)
The fact that quest givers are impressed when you pull off something impressive.
The new tables (alchemy, smithing, enchanting)
I shouted in the College and later received a letter asking me to please stop.
The Khajiit traders that camp outside city walls.
Random encounters (some young thug decided to rob me and was immediately set on fire and then thrown in the river)

I could go on all day.
Khajiit has wares, if you have coin...

In the character creator, there's an option in Eye color or Eye preset maybe. One of the sliders has a setting where your eyes are all milky with no pupils. I did it to both eyes.

Little touches like the Foresworn (spelling?) and Clans Battle-Born and Grey-Mane. They make Skyrim feel a lot more like Morrowind, or rather, they take one of the best parts of Morrowind and put them in Skyrim.

The children's games and personalities, the way books fall open when I move them, how snow moves in a wind, killing hagravens, npc interactions, being able to sell wook or leeks or potatoes to random npcs who like your hard work, a khajiit's disgust at me leaving stuff on the ground ("Who does that?" he asks), the fact that the khajiit trader camps actually move, butterflies, oil on the ground, Aela's usage of the term "ice-head"(or some variation, the fact that she had an insulting nickname for someone was just cool), Aela the Huntress, beehives, quest complexity or simplicity, and waterfalls. I love waterfalls.
To see the world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.

One thing that surprised me was the spider webs in Bleak Falls Barrow. Usually in games, spiderwebs are just these white masses... which is what old cobwebs look like, but I was pleased to see the large spiderwebs in Skyrim are clear and look damn sticky, like something that you'd expect to trap folks.
“Fine day” said the young man.

“Gods!” hollered Zaki, sending the young man flying with a well-placed punch, and dashing away.

I like how when you own a bookcase, you can use the "place books" option and the game neatly places your selected books in a row on the shelf:B a very nice touch.

You must of contracted a disease, if you contract one NPCs will say that.

But anyone for my little things:
When you are wanted people will hire people to take you out, for example on my orc I had killed svens mother and stole from somebody else, both had hired thugs to kill me and they had notes on their bodies.

Honestly all the little things, this game has way to many little amazing things XD
fus ro dah kicking up dirt and snow
couriers
the dynamic AI, for example killing a womens husband and she will say how she missed him and how he was a good father.
The Game.
everything

I only have one big complaint, and thats the fact I don't know what the main quest is...is it the greybeards, or is it the war between empire/stormcloaks, I thought it was both but they are tracked differently..

The main quest is the Greybeard line.

I like how if someone attacks you in the streets, the Guards will often stand back and watch the fight pan out. Really gives the game a more barbaric tone than Oblivion.
