Rogue Mage build help
Rogue Mage build help
In oblivion I liked rogue Mage. I would like to do something like that in skyrim. I would not need destruction but the other magic skills are desired. I would also want stealth, dagger and bow. Any suggestions on if this build would be good in skyrim and how tonset it up ( race, standing stone, etc)?

Re: Rogue Mage build help
A build like that would work perfectly well in Skyrim, probably more so than in Oblivion.
Altmer have the ultimate caster racial(s) - none of the others are that relevent for stealth. Argonians have 2 magic skill bonuses and 4 stealth bonuses.. Dunmer have 2 stealth bonuses and 4 magic bonuses.
Standing stone - maybe go for stealth for a while then switch to magic to let those skills catch up in level.
Other than that, just use and do what you like! Power in those areas will come only in time

I'd go dual wielding daggers, with a bow, and with light armor. Focus on Sneak, Enchantment, Illusion and Alchemy. Maybe Conjuration if you have perks left.
If I were you I might pick a High Elf, Redguard, Khajiit, Bosmer or Dunmer, although feel free to pick what you like, it makes little difference.

I guess I wouldnwant to fit restoration in there somehow right? Without that, is alchemy the right way to heal in terms of cost and ensuring I have sufficient pots with me??dkjestrup wrote:I'd go dual wielding daggers, with a bow, and with light armor. Well the great thing about Skyrim is that it won't cost you to level up your Restoration in terms of efficient leveling. So by all means, use it if you want. Although if you have somewhat decent health you will definitely want to be dual casting it if you want to heal quickly.Xraptorx wrote:I guess I wouldnwant to fit restoration in there somehow right? Re: Rogue Mage build help
I'm playing this build currently.
I went Argonian, mostly because unlimited waterbreathing and the resistances are badass.
I chose Mage Stone, cause it was the first one I saw.
My focused skills are Destruction, Archery, Conjuration, Sneak, and One-Handed. I also situationally use lockpicking and pickpocketing, and have been skilling up my Alchemy since it's a lot of fun.
Basically, do whatever you feel is the most fun! I personally love sniping people long range, then roasting them, or raising them as zombies against their friends. If you prefer dagger-in-the-back or freezing people out of their fur armor, then take that route! There is no perfect build.

Race does not matter so much as far as skill bonuses go in Skyrim, however, racial bonuses do have an effect. You might like to choose to be an Altmer for the added Magicka and Magicka Regen, and you might consider:
The Apprentice or The Artonch Standing Stones for added Magicka.
The Apprentice

Re: Rogue Mage build help
Huh? Where do Apprentice or Artonch (???) come into play? That's Oblivion etc only right? Me I prefer Breton because of the magic resistance\enhance mana pool but Altmer might be good too. No weaknesses like there was in Oblivion. Also not as great a strengths but ...
Re: Rogue Mage build help
With only 70 perks available in the end, I guess I cannot really focus on more the 5 skills, right?
I liked the ideas of bows, but read that arrows are hard to come by, is that really the truth?
Offense: bow and destruction
Rest: conj, enchant, sneak
I read and understand I can raise all skills, but just should not spend perks on the skills I do not want to focus on. That kinda seems limiting. Not sure if multi class chars would really work or are perks not so special?

I haven't had much trouble getting arrows. If you need, go to some fort. If there are bandits there, they are sure to have arrows.Xraptorx wrote:With only 70 perks available in the end, I guess I cannot really focus on more the 5 skills, right?

I'm talking about the Standing Stones which are the replacement of the Birthsigns of OblivionLord Elvewyn wrote:Huh? Where do Apprentice or Artonch (???) come into play?
