A daedric quest question?

I have done a certain daedric quest almost till the end and now in some kind of dilema^^, more in spoilers:

Spoiler:

I have heard the rumors about Azuras shrine and visited it, then I was tasked to reclaim Azuras star, I searched for informations where to find , got to the dungeon and looted it, the star is broken and now I could either give it to some mage who will make an eternal Black soul gem from the star or give it back to azura, which will maybe lead to get the normal version of the star, what should I choose?

Give it to the mage that way its gaurenteed, or save and try both.

I'd say save then try returning it to Azura and see what you get.

What's a Black Eternal Soul Gem? Is that a black version of Oblivions Azura's Star?

So I have tried one way and tested the other:

If you bring it to the mage he creates The Black Star, a black soulgem version of azuras star but you only can trap human souls no creatures anymore, azura gives you the standard version(creatures but no humans), for both you have the cleanse the broken star gem from the soul of the mage who stole it and bound himself to the star to gain eternal life(he was hard but maybe just because I was level 7, he has not much health but his spells are really nasty(but I haven't level health so I am till at starting value)
