How do you plan to do your traveling in Skyrim?
I fast traveled a lot in Oblivion. Too much. I'm going to try to play without in in Skyrim, but since I hate riding horses (Dismounting to fight is so lame) I'll probably be doing a lot of walking. Maybe a carriage from time to time.

If carriage wasn't just like fast travel I would do that, walking instead.

How about an "All of the above" option, because that's what I'm going to do, and I'm sure I'm not alone on that account.

I added it to the poll. That's how I was at first in Oblivion, but I found myself fast traveling more and more until the game was just a montage of loading screens. That's why I decided to walk in Skyrim.OblivionDuruza wrote:How about an "All of the above" option, because that's what I'm going to do, and I'm sure I'm not alone on that account.![]()

I would probably stroll around everywhere. Look at all the details...

Agreed, I forced myself to walk my PS3 Oblivion character, and the coolest/strangest things happened in between A and B.BabyKiller209 wrote:I added it to the poll. Re: How do you plan to do your traveling in Skyrim?
First time round, I'll more than likely walk everywhere. The whole scale of the game can be missed if you're quickly teleporting around everywhere, and with so much to see and discover the trips themselves should be highly entertaining. I'll still resort to quick travel from time to time when I'm looting a dungeon and need to get to and from my house to drop stuff off quickly.
I do appreciate there being a carriage system, because they would enable me to get to exactly where I need to be far sooner on future playthroughs, once I'm more familiar with the world and it's layout.

During the first weeks I'll probably walk or ride a horse everywhere.
But I'll still use fast travel

I will mix things, but I too think I'm a bit too dependant on fast-travelling.
Because there's no fun to be found in being normal.

Re: How do you plan to do your traveling in Skyrim?
I'm going to do what I did in Oblivion: walk from town to town, hit all the unexplored points along the roads, and only then will I fast travel between towns. Or I might not fast travel during my first playthrough. We'll see.
Signatures are overrated.

Likely, I'll just go ignore the MQ and just do whatever I want first time around.
I plan to go full mage and journey up to the College of Winterhold.

Re: How do you plan to do your traveling in Skyrim?
Definitely all of the above. I would like to say I won't use fast travel but that would be like most of my New Years resolutions, it goes very well at first and then I think Ag I'm in a rush so I'll just do it once and before you know it I'm hopping all over the place.

I will walk everywhere, I don't want to miss out on something in the land that I would have otherwise missed by fast traveling. Especially hearing how there are so many more points of interest all throughout the map.

I'll probably use everything apart from Fast Travel. Mainly walking and horse-riding, but I'll save the carriages for a special occasion or if my character is feeling lazy.

Re: How do you plan to do your traveling in Skyrim?
I wll travel on foot.
I did this in Oblivion and I like it. You encounter enemies, gain experience, loot, athletics increase, you see the world, ... I have never fast-traveled, only rarely on horseback
In Morrowind I used means of transport if I could, but traveled on foot too. You just can't get everywhere by "fast-travel" (boat, teleport, silt-strider), you have to tarvel a lot on your own. I like it.

Amen. Until I get a horse, anyhow.Argonanza wrote:I will traverse the epic landscape on foot. So many pretty views..
I dislike fast travel with a passion. To me it's much more exciting to actually do the traveling manually, myself, so that I get to a) gawk over all of the beautiful scenery (and I do in every TES game), b) find more lovely hidden towns, houses, and dungeons, and c) it makes me feel like I'm actually being my character and not suffering from temporary memory lapse going, "Well well, how did I get here again?"
I'm sure dragons shall make me dislike this. But I'll show them!
Huzzah!

These legs were made for walking. And a horse doesn't really make one more able to climb things.unokitsune wrote:On Topic: How are you going to traverse the steep mountainside without a horse?

Re: How do you plan to do your traveling in Skyrim?
Here and there, this and that.. it really depends on how much time I have when I am playing. If I just want to do something and I have to be somewhere (as in IRL) then I will be more likely to fast travel. If I have a lot of time to play then I'll more than likely go by foot. Pretty much the same way I did in previous Bethesda games.

Re: How do you plan to do your traveling in Skyrim?
I'll only use fast travel if I'm trying to finish it before another game comes out (which I doubt any will). Once I start a game, I have to finish. D:>
