I'll wear a thing on my shirt to school tomorrow that announces Skyrim. Hopefully the teachers won't mind.

The Night Before Skyrim : By Cdvibbert

(spoilered for length)
Spoiler:
twas the night before skyrim, and all through the night, i wasnt sleeping, my eyes opened tight.
the posters were hung from my wall with care, with depictions of dovahkiin slaying a bear.

thoughts of the battles raced through my head
while visions of dragons flew over my bed
my parents were yelling "shut up! go to sleep!"
while videos of the trailer made my eyes weep.

When out of nowhere, my house did caught fire
the walls were collapsing, as sweat did transpire
i jumped from my window, and did so with haste
the trees were there burning, the land was laid waste

The skies, they were burning out up in the cloud
A monster flew down, though wrapped in a shroud
I raised up my head, and what did appear?
Twas a dragon! a dragon! his presents spelled fear.

The dragon was crafty, ferioucious, and quick
His smoke was a pestolince that made me quite sick
more rapid than eagles his claws at me came
twas then when he roared all his frightning acclaim

"o hero, out there in my burning field
what buisness have you with the great dragon Mielde?"
"o great dragon Mielde, these fields are my home
you have no right, here in my presence to roam!"

I charged at him, armed only with a stick
my movements were stunning, my footsteps were quick!
i swung at his snout with all of my might!
His reply was this: "your kidding, right"

the stick it did break onto his snout
the blow did not faze him, he didn't even pout
then round came his tail, with bonecrushing force
twas a blow to the throat, it made my speech horse

his voices of mocking then did fill the lawn
"ive felt tougher swings come from my mom!"
tis true that my arms wern't exactly so strong
a side effect from playing xbox all day long

My hope was receeding, my head did feel faint
but from my gut i knew. i must remove this foul taint!
from a trash can lid, i did fasten a shield
i knew i need more to make this beast yield!

I could find no weapon, i prayed to the Nords
to craft me a weapon, a mighty great sword
Then out of the sky, a miracle did comence
no longer would i be on defense!

For out of the heavens a pure light behold
a blade did come down, wrapped in fine gold
I grasped the blade with my open hand
"with this i will bring peace unto the land!"

The dragon did witness the heavenly blade
He moved at me quickly, no time to evade!
I then made my move, and sliced at his throat
( i swear, by myself, this poem i did wrote)

I then woke up after battle with shock!
my house was restored, and i looked at the clock.
"hazaah!" i did cry " Skyrim has ascended!"
and at that exact moment, my social life ended.

There's no harm posting links to videos and clips in this topic because we're all excited... but please try to find legal sources for all the materials you're linking to otherwise the forum could get into trouble. That's a wonderful soundtrack, but I don't think Bethesda have officially released it yet.
The forum can't actually get in trouble for links. If we were hosting the material, then yes we could get in trouble. That said, it is against the rules so a user can get in trouble with the people who run the forum. As far as the content on wherever it's hosted... Well, that's YTs problem.

Serious question: Should I use my Oblivion GoTY as trade-in for Skyrim?

Honestly? You probably won't get much for it, so I wouldn't bother.

If the fear is that the guild quest lines will turn out to be a lot of boring randomly generated quests, then I don't think that will be a problem. I think this is refering to side quests or endgame quests within the guild. Most guild quests will be hand done.

Nor are you alone...

I was expecting small repeatable quests that were minor "Go kill this" or "Find my heirloom in x cave"
I wasn't expecting radiant faction quests, that's awesome and 10 times better than Oblivion's "Collect gold each week" form of perpetuating a guild

It's talking about infinite guild quests after you've done all of the "main" stuff for the guild (stuff that is specifically written for each guild, that is), as well as random NPC quests. Kind of like the "visit the night mother once a week" thing in Oblivion.. except much more detail and variety.

Well that solves one problem Oblivion had - working really hard to climb to the pinnacle of each Guild, become Grandmaster, and then... leave the guild to rot while you find something else to do :)

For example, you spent a few game months being the most productive member of (say) the Thieves Guild. You reach the top, and then once you've gotten your sticky mits on the Cowl of Nocturnal and you're the boss - the guild itself pretty much ceases to exist and you've probably found another guild to invest all your time in.

Definitely a change for the better. And those who disagree have the option of simply not doing those quests - since there are always a few quests out of the hundreds on offer that don't appeal to people for one reason or another so the existence of these shouldn't be a problem and definitely removes the 'this world is getting very empty' feeling that can eventually happen.

Hopefully more missions after completing guild questlines means you DON'T become the leader of every (or any) fracking faction.

Yeah, that being said you don't have to go all the way through every faction.. I mean if you don't want to be the leader of the Thieves guild and the Companions, then just don't progress in one of them.

Love that whole concept to death! Can't wait to see how they're handling DB assassinations (if they use regular NPCs they'd eventually all die  ).
