Also note his experience just may be a result of the pre-alpha build, but I thoroughly appreciate Bethesda's effort to avoid anything like this happening to me on day 1.

He did say "virtually" not spoken about. That means he acknowledges that there were some glitches discussed at some point. In any case, that's an amusing glitch and it's not a game-breaking one... He paid off his bounty and everything was peachy!Ultima Satan wrote:drumgodrob wrote:Good to see they're determined to get rid of all the glitches ASAP... Re: Skyrim to Get Day One Patch
It's good to know that Bethesda is on top of it this time. It took a few days and several patches to fix up New Vegas which still has horrible bugs, not to say New Vegas is bad, I for one loved it. It doesn't bother me that there will be a patch day one, it's better to have the game ruining bugs fixed before we have the misfortune of discovering them ourselves right?

Re: Skyrim to Get Day One Patch
FYI, patch is already live as reviewers have reported getting prompts to download when playing.
Joystiq says: "Bethesda reps tell reviewers that the patch "fixes some minor stability and quest progression issues," and that it will be received automatically by players on day one."

Ok, so I get the PS3 and Xbox 360 players get this patch automatically when they put the game in and log on to the internet, but how do us PC players get the patch?

Even if you didn't purchase the game through Steam? I preordered a hard copy of the game from Gamestop.Mars wrote:Through Steam I imagine.

Yes. You'll be using Steam regardless of where you got the copy.

You still need to activate the game on steam. I'm not sure how this process works but it says that the game requires internet for Steam activation.

Lame... I hate using Steam unless I'm playing one of the games I downloaded through it... Ah, well, can't have everything be perfect, I suppose.ZeRoc wrote:You still need to activate the game on steam. I just wonder how buggy the game is without the patch, since I don't have broadband to actually GET it.

Re: Skyrim to Get Day One Patch
Here's something to think about: it's a given fact that the game has been leaked in certain venues.
Has the patch been 'leaked' as well, or all these folks playing with the unstable edition?

Re: Skyrim to Get Day One Patch
This might be a bit of a noobish question, but once I have my copy of Skyrim (I preordered it from Gamestop), how do I go about patching it? Will the patch automatically be applied when I log into Steam after installing the game, or will it involve wacky shenanigans? Anyone know?

Re: Skyrim to Get Day One Patch
I'd assume that the PC-specific launcher screen will give you the option to update the game, if the thing didn't patch the game automatically. I mean, such a feature has been around since the late 90's.

Re: Skyrim to Get Day One Patch
Steam will just fetch the patch for you. You will need to be in online mode and you might need to ask Steam to do it with the game's right click menu.perylousdemon wrote:This might be a bit of a noobish question, but once I have my copy of Skyrim (I preordered it from Gamestop), how do I go about patching it? Anyway, you can go ahead and make a Steam account beforehand to check out how the software works. Go play one of the free demos you can download though it.

Oh, I have a Steam account already (purchased ME2 through there, among others). Was just wondering how it would interact with a game that I didn't purchase through Steam.SuperNull wrote:Steam will just fetch the patch for you. The result that sits your hard-disk is identical no matter what purchasing method you used.perylousdemon wrote: Oh, I have a Steam account already (purchased ME2 through there, among others). Was just wondering how it would interact with a game that I didn't purchase through Steam.
You can buy a retail copy of a game and never use the disk, as you are free to download it when you enter the serial number that came in the box.
You can also use a friends disk to install a game you purchased online if you want to save bandwidth.

Re: Skyrim to Get Day One Patch
Has Bethesda commented about the texture issue on 360 yet? Or has anyone found out the definitive cause?
