Meet: Volundr FyreHammr

Volundr is Old norse for Weylend, who was a smith in old english lore.
Hammr is the Norse word for "hammer"
I thought spelling fire like "Fyre" just looked cool. Also fire is a blacksmiths main tool. Ill probably enchant my two-handed warhammer with fire as well.

Im debating whether I should play as Redguard or Nord. Adrenaline Rush was pretty handy in a jam on my first playthrough in oblivion, and i loved not having to worry about diseases.
Yet, a nord would be true to the setting of the game, and plus that ice spell was pretty handy in a jam as well. Other than that i cant give any advantages of a nord based off of oblivion.

What do you guys think?
I vote for Nord. Nords just seem like perfect blacksmiths to me.
I say Redguard, simply because it seems like EVERYONE around you is probably gonna be a Nord XD I hope Race diversity is good in the game. I can understand important characters being Nords, but I don't want EVERYONE to be a nord, you know?

Well, it would be demographically accurate, so...

I'm playing Dunmer or Breton. Whatever suits me in the moment.
Because there's no fun to be found in being normal.

I understand that, but still. All Nords would be boring.

They did it well in Morrowind. If the race diversity there carries over to Skyrim, I'll be happy.

And can we have guards of multiple races this time? :P Anyway, I'm done before we get off topic. I'm still trying to come up with a good story for my canon character.

I'll be playing an Orc intellectual who relies on a mixture of magic and crafting to survive, with mace and axe, because there's no such thing as being over prepared.

It will be awesome.

Since I saw the "race perks" or whatever you call them I wanna go with Orc for my warrior type. Their Berserker Rage seems awesome.

Varis Salothan (Dunmer)
With a general hatred towards humans especially Nords, Varis is in a bad place. Being forced to flee into Skyrim after the destruction of Vvardenfell and the Argonian invasion, he is used to things not going his way, which is a blessing since he will now have to undo the return of the dragons. He wields magic as well as his sword and bow. His upper class blood no longer a matter of concern, since Morrowind is no longer the land of the Dunmer the only favor he ever receives is when he meets a fellow mer (probably). He is a sneaky son of a [&@%!], slitting throats whenever direct combat is not necessary. He will most likely join the dark brotherhood, whenever he gets the chance, not because he is a psychotic [&@%!], but because killing is something he excels at.

Quintinius Draconis (Imperial)
An imperial highborn, took up arms in the legion like so many of his forefathers, sees himself duty bound to repel the dragons ravaging imperial territory. The Stormcloaks are also located at the top of his (feaces)list seeing as how they are enemies of the empire. Sticking mostly to his sword, shield and bow Quintinius magic abilities are slightly rusty to say the least, but if need be, he can set most enemies ablaze in a matter of seconds. Being a highborn imperial has had an unfortunate effect on his disposition towards lower class citizens, never having been able to truly understand poverty, the ability to successfully survive in the wilderness never rendering him without food in his belly. He will however always trust an honest man/mer/argonian/khajiit who knows his/her craft and takes pleasure in his/her work (so long as it is an honorable one). Quitinius is used to taking orders and will seldom question a superior officer. He is not a racist, but he does have a general distrust towards all nonhuman races, not being able to read their faces as well as he would want. He will take up work in the Companions thinking it to be honorable work, worthy of a man of his station; also, he likes the extra coin that comes with the work. He will see great fortune coming his way during his daring adventures in Skyrim.

The last name fits too well with the setting. No, no relation. There could be hundreds of Draconis families in the "real tamriel", the one with millions of inhabitants (probably)

I'm also gonna focus quite heavily on smithing. Probably having smithing, heavy or light armor (can't decide yet), block, one handed and enchanting as my primary skills.

I just spent about an hour planning and describing a character and... it took me to the login screen when I tried to submit. My computer just cast a huge demoralize spell on me. :,(

To distill about five or six paragraphs of plot and description into a few sentences, he was a necromancer who grew so powerful the Aedra and Daedra worked together to bind him. He can see all future possibilities, but is restricted to possessing one mortal body at very specific points in time. He was tasked with guiding certain major events to have certain outcomes as his atonement. Those events were, of course, the central plot points of Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and now Skyrim.

And he's going to be a male Nord Warrior. Because everyone knows that Dovakhiin is a male Nord Warrior.

I'm gonna go cry in a corner now. That narrative was going to be my gift to the UESP forum... *sniff*

My Altmer character from TES IV Oblivion and soon Skyrim. I was having trouble picking out a name as I make so many different mer characters ((as well as Argonian and Khajiit)) But I could never settle on a race/name so I'm picking Altmer for my character especially for a costume contest on 11/11/11 at my local Gamestop

I don't have the ears yet ((was pointed to yayahan to get elf ears)) So I had to make do also I'm a bit out of shape and desperatly need to get rid of that chin fat x.x

Anyways so my character is Varanrielle Varlalatta, it's Ayleid and means Beautiful caster star light. She was named by her grandmother who would come to raise her. Her grandmother was one of the last pure surviving Ayleids that didn't flee into the forest to become the wild elves. To survive for such a long length of time even for an elf she became a vampire and made some enchantments that allowed her to move freely in the sunlight, albeit for limited amounts of time without proper feeding, and disguised herself as an Altmer to further blend in. From birth Varanrielle's grandmother could tell that she would become a very powerful mage, her parents could tell but not nearly as much as an Ayleid who was more in tune with magic and light than a grand Altmer.

Varanrielle's parents met an unfortunate end to bandits on their way to the Imperial City for shopping but because her parents had been of few Altmer to settle on Imperial ways, their rusty magic was no where powerful enough to save them.

As a young elf girl those same bandits would later come to attempt a raid on young Varanrielle's farm which doubled as her magic training ground under the tutalage of her grandmother. While her grandmother was away "searching for food" Varanrielle was left alone and had casted a powerful frost spell which killed off the bandits and had attracted the imperial guard. Varanrielle's grandmother came just in time and was quick to take responsibility for the spell as it almost killed one of the Imperial Horses. Other than her grandmother the only ones to know the truth would be the nine divines themselves and some of the daedric princes as well as the unholy Nightmother and her husband Sithis. The Mage's guild was too daft and too focused on power struggles to really notice young Varanrielle's gift, for if they had they might of killed her off early.

She grew to become a very powerful mage and ended up becoming Archmage shortly before the guild's dissolvment into two seperate groups following the events of Arch-Mage Traven's death. When Sheogorath opened his portal to the motal plane looking for a Champion, Varanrielle answered and sent a powerful frost/fire spell and felled the mighty Gatekeeper with one hit. Though her magic soars beyond normal mortal mages, her archer and close combat skills do not so she has to keep on toes.

Due to all the drama on Nirn and Mundus, and because of Sheogorath's continuous pestering she takes up nearly permanent residence on Shivering Isles and is one of few to accept that she is insane but through acceptance is able to talk to a non mad person just fine. She favors dementia clothing and is a powerful master enchanter and makes her own clothes. She shares a rivalry with Relmyna Verenim. Relmyna loves Sheogorath, Varanrielle detests Sheogoraths constant advances on Varan on top of the other ladies Sheogorath fonds over and Relmyna thinks Varanrielle as her rival as she currently holds the majority of the Lord's attention.

This has lead to many skirmishes that Sheogorath has found most amusing and entertaining. However Relmyna's popularity with Sheogorath is wayning especially since the last Greymarch and the daedric curse being lifted from the Grey Cowl of Nocturna. Such is that Sheogorath is now Sheogorath/Jyygalag and changes between forms quite often and no longer has to wait at the end of every era.

ill just describe who my main character will be...

Race: Nord
Gender: Male
Name: Dovakhiin (not being cheesy with the name or race or gender, i like male nords the most and Dovakhiin because they call you Dovakhiin a few times in the game i believe)
Gameplay type: Warrior, dual wield, axe.
Age: Roughly 40
Reason for imprisonment: Been in jail for 25-30 years, declared mentally insane, committed genocide.
Story: In short, after the tutorial part, he finds the legacy of my Oblivion character and follows it. He is still mentally unstable, he is usually a good guy but sometimes does kill people, he worships Sheogorath as he finds he can relate to him in many ways. He is generally a quiet fellow. Very few people like him as he is known to of committed genocide.

I would write out the entire story but I have far to much in my head to write out, I would end up hitting the post-cap : /

Dunmer Ranger (ie. core skills used will be Archery, One-handed, Light Armor and Restoration. Possibly Smithing, too.) Plus miscellaneous use of other skills, of course, but IMO those listed before are the "Ranger-rific" skills :D.
