probably because daggers were completely useless in Oblivion. Now they're awesome.

I always play a stealth archer but the Todd Howard interviews and quotes regarding arrows have made me very worried.
My characters are pure archers with no secondary combat skill of any kind. My question to fellow stealth players is this: Do you believe such a character will be feasible? How do you interpret the comments on the availability of arrows?
I realise that it is all speculation at this point but would like to hear others opinion.

I think they're taking a more realistic approach to arrows and archery. Let's face it, no archers carried 120 arrows around with them. Less than 20 is much more realistic. I think it will force us to invest in a secondary attack, such as blades or magic. I think they're just making it a bit more fair than like in Oblivion.

15x??? Has sneak attack damage with bows been increased as well?

The sneak attack multiplier for bows seems to be the same as in Oblivion, but now bows are more effective in terms of damage. And the amount of arrows and movement speed when shooting are modified to be more realistic. So more damage per shot but less shots. And no running and jumping while shooting.

AeraDunmerMoon wrote:It just now occurs to me that while dagger+sneak is an excellent idea in game, doesn't the concept seem a little silly when you take a step back. In practical terms, yes, it's a good idea, but I have this image in my head while I think it. Goes something like this:
Dovahkiin: -tiptoes up to the dragon, dagger in hand.-
Dragon: -busy roasting guardsmen-
Dovahkiin: -slashes at dragon-
Dragon: -continues roasting guardsmen, because in any world other than elder scrolls, daggers don't even register to dragons. Like fighting an troll with a toothpic.-
Dovahkiin: -tries again-
Dragon: -finishes with the guardsmen and turns around to eat Daggerborn.-
Haha, cool story .

But I would assume that when I'm actually in the middle of the first couple of dragon fights the dragon will be using the same tactics as displayed in the trailer, therefore my method would be hack and slash at soft underbelly.

Once you start coming across more powerful dragons I'm hoping to have a strong enchanting skill that will take full advantage of any weaknesses dragons possess.
For those who seek, and those who flee,
For those who ride and sail the sky,
Those who wade their way through fire,
Have only moments left to spare...

No but there's an added critical rate perk.

Hi,

I'm also going to make a stealth char. Same as I did in Oblivion, stealth archer.
However I'm a bit confused about the race choice. It looks like besides the abilities/powers bonus they start with, there's no real difference between them. The skill bonuses are useful the first few levels, but each race can be leveled as desired.

Or am I missing something? Why would a certain race be better as a stealth/archer char?

regards,
Neva

I don't think its going to be that important if a race has any one or two particular bonus's, rather if a race has 4 or 5 skill bonus's that mirror your intended playing style.

I'm assuming you will have only so many points to spend when levling up. Picking the right race can lead to getting a faster well rounded character that fits your playing style.

Also, skill levels will unlock perks, so starting bonus's can get you to more powerful perks faster.

In other words, picking a race that has none of your desired skills enhanced will put you behind 30 point upgrades, etc. I guess it depends on how hard the game is, but it could be a big deal. However, I don't think race will be as big an issue as in oblivion now that attributes are gone.

I'll probably be relying on magic for backup. Never really was much of a melee person.
