Level cap (minor game mechanic spoiler)

Post by SuperNull »

Beth has been a bit not-specific about the maximum level your character can get. It is supposed to be "about 70".
Now if that is not enough info for you, you may appreciate this sum.

-There are 18 skills (common knowledge).
-The biggest skill boost you start with is 25 (from articles like this).
-Each race gets +10 to one skill and +5 to 5 skills (according to the wiki).

soo........

- Each race starts with 25 point in one skill, 20 points in 5 skills, and 15 points in 12 skills.
- The total skillpoints that can be earned by playing is 1495, because (100-25) + 5*(100-20) + 12*(100-15) = 1495

Now the only way this makes sence is if you assume that you need 20 skillpoints for each level, making your max level 75, because 1495 / 20 = 74.75 and you get the first level free. Does anyone think this is incorrect?

That seems plausible, however, it might be the case that higher level ups (e.g. level 99 to level 100) contribute more than lower ones (e.g. from level 15 to level 16), and we might have a completely more complicated equation.

Hmmm good question......it may be like oblivion where you just stop leveling at 70 even though there are still skills to increase....

This is based on 20 skill points to level up?
Then you have a problem. Earlier levels require less skill points. 10 is what i'd heard, but from level 1 to 2 it might be 5. Try doing the equation with 10 skill points to level up, but once it gets to level 50 it's much harder to level up. So 10 from 1-50, then 20 for the rest. Can you do that? I think it might be more accurate.

I may be off but if its 10 skill points until 50 then 20 till 70 you come up with 890 skill increases, outa the 1495, and increasing the rest of the skills brings it up another 30.25 levels.

(math: 1-50= 49lvs*10skill points+(50-70=20lvs)20*20skillpoints= 890skill increases so then 1495-890= 605/20skill points=30.25)
So asumming they are telling the truth and have debunked it themselves and 70 IS the max level this is definetly not the required skill increases to level up.

Edit: did alittle math and have come close, 20skill inceases till 50, and 25 until "max" 70 would total 1480.
Edit#2: stumped i thought about going at it differently, where i would find x*50=y, 1495-y=a/20=z(which always with whatever numbers i put in within reason, comes out as a decimal. And you cant need to increase a skill by 1/4th to level up.)
X= Skill points req. Till 50
Y= needed skill increases till 50
A= skill increases needed till 70
Z= skill increases req. Till 70

How would that work out? Thats confuses me, what i got from what they said is that all 18 skills help towards your level, with no major nor minor skills, so where as lets say you need 10 skill increases to level you could get 1 skill in two-handed, destruction, etc. And they would all add up to that 10 point requirement.

Wrong, they ahve said getting a 25 up to 26 is less then a 40 to a 41
Well we have no way of knowing the equatuion but it would be something like this

each skill has points for each leve

so blade at 25 is lets say 25 points gained form that level (this is in no way shape or form what they do in game its an exsample)

and you need to get a grand total of 100 points to leve to level 2

if you get four
24 skills up to 25 you level up
25 x 4 = 100

how ever if you raise a 5 it only gose up by 5
understand?

(again thise are not the points they use

And if so 18 skills at 100 is 1800 or 18 levels?
Explain to me, cause im getting all mixed up, how all 18 skills at max brings players to the games mathmatical level of 70?

Edit: i think i got it now 100 is not the number the game will use but still i wanna knw what that number is.

It would have to be very VERY strange if the formula is not obtainable by experiment.

IF someone from the hacked Xbox crowd would keep track of what skills increased between level-ups THEN there would be a way to use a particular brand of math (linear algebra) to figure everything out.
HOWEVER those people are way to busy having fun to even think about doing this, of cause ;)

Proof that its a skill increase, counts as 1/x to level up at 7:50 in the video The Elder Scrools V: Skyrim Full Video Demo Part 1, it should be the one with only todd talking. Right when the alteration skill increases to 54 level progress bar appears and increases slightly.

not when you relize that 2 x skilllevel x 1.5

could be put as

2.5 . SkillLevel . 15

and aboout 80 more ways to do it.

And even if we know the fuomlaur it is most likely

skill level of blade, is defreint form bblut, so it would take a lot more, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYyyy more easyer to check the scipt plus no chance of mistakes
