I thought so too! But then I read this:

The game imposes a soft cap at level 50. Past level 50, leveling up happens much more slowly. The theoretical level cap (maximum level) is around level 70, reached by increasing all skills to 100.
One implication of the leveling system is that although it is possible to create a character with 100 in all skills, it is not possible for a single character to unlock all of the skill perks. There are 280 total skill perks, but only around 70 of them can be unlocked by any given character.

It's from this wiki, and I desperately hope it's true. *bites fingernails*

Here (all are male characters, each one governs one of the basic playstyles)

My most trustworthy companion, Fathis Aren. Yes, the same name as the crazy wizard in Oblivion but it's his name. I think I play with this first.

Race: Dunmer

Would-be-class: Rogue/Thief/Ranger (Assassin?)

Skills: Archery, One-Handed, Sneak, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Light Armor, Speech

Not quite Dovahkiin-style, but this is my favorite. Turns things into his favor with stealth and wealth. Gets rid of those who get in his way. Fanatical support to Morrowind: does anything what improves Dunmeri influence. Might have to drop one of the skills, probably speech. Poisoned arrows, throat-slitting etc. Has moral, although likes money too. Thieves Guild is his favorite

Fjalmir

Race: Nord

Would-be-class: Warrior

Skills: Two-Handed, Heavy Armor, Lockpicking, Archery, Smithing (Speech)

True Nord hero. Dovahkiin. Smashes skulls with his enchanted battle axe. Loves Skyrim and helps the people. Might be a Stormcloak.

Armion

Race: Altmer

Would-be-class: Mage/Sorcerer

Skills: Illusion, Conjuration, Destruction, Restoration, Alteration, Enchanting

When someone [&@%!] him up: a paralyze spell (if in game) in one hand and a fire spell in another. Slow roast. When fighting, reanimates dead enemies and casts destructive spells. Invisibility spells and gear to be unseen when needed. Probable Stormcloak. Collects old books.

50 is somewhat the softcap of leveling till that it is easy, afterwards it gets hard.

Your build is nice, for my first character I currently speculate with something similar but maybe not illusion as I never was into this kind of magic and maybe not full restoration, better full alteration which gives perfect defense allmost ;-). I also think about alchemy as this was some really powerfull skill in the past and should easy replace a weaker restoration, but for what I will go finally only the game will determine.
You maybe can plan what you want from the perks but it also depends on the spells you then get if some of the perks are really worth your playstyle.

My only question is are you sure you dont want just one main magic class from what ive seen its going to be annoying scrolling through spells off each class for each hand, atleast imo, but other than that i like it, i suggest no changes, except have a plan B for if you have a hard time getting to 70 and need to spend skill points wisely.

Yeah, I thought about that; I'll probably just have a couple destruction spells, my main healing spell, and my favorite summon set to my quick bar. The only times I'll need alteration or illusion hopefully won't be in hugely stressful situations where I'm in danger of running out of time or mana.

{*DON'T READ, TOO SAD!!! WARNING*}Well, i was thinking about going dark elf, as i did in oblivion, and created the archetype. :Twisted Evil: :Twisted Evil: . ANd then i spent a whole lot with the game guide, studying numbers, and made formula for ultimate Archetype(getting all base attributes to 100). Female High elf, Birthsign:THief, +7 of the skills that are easy to manipulate. For controlled leveling. THe morning I started, i had finally made her face beautiful. so i saved it and left it on. My mom came in the room, and was like we're going out to disneyworld with your aunt and her family today. I was like "no". *20 minutes later*. My mom picked up my Xbox from its alter. And threw it on the ground  . I died. My oblivion, got the circular scratch. I went to disneyWorld  . Haven't played Oblivion since.
{start reading here}
SKYRIM. What im gonna do with you.    :P . What im gonna do with it, im gonna start with a high elf, gonna, use *Alteration, Restoration, Sneak, Pickpocketing, Illusion, Archery, Enchanting, Destruction*(Perks).. I know its eight, But I make it work. I chose High elf because of the *Positive* abilities, Replenish majicka faster. That'll be good for, raising my magic schools up to adept, without using the perks for Novice or Apprentice(-50% less majicka reqired), THats where the extra room room for another perk come in. With 10 Perk skill points left over. thats about enough for an eighth set of perks, Huh? :) :) . So ill use Daggers, Bow and arrows, And Destruction(and what ever other school i feel like except for Conjuration) for Offense. For example, my prefered fighting style is Elegant, I will kill thou silently and swift, Before you knew i was ever there(daggers+bow&arrows+Store bought quality Poisons). If i got found out, I would just turn chameleon, And now you have am invisible spell caster that gonna light you on fire, Damage your health, Will make you go on a frenzy, Paralyze you, Burden you, And DRAGON SHOUT in your ear, All up in your face. ANd i'll just steal for income  . GOnna Own all the Guilds   . THis class is beautiful because, your making your self weak, Physically-- But oh what --What??-- Oh yeah Enchanting, I'll enchant Clothes, to boost my attributes, put permanets on, and fill up the builds faults. And since I'm Not planning on getting hit that much  . SO YEah, perks Are AWsoemeeeSWEET!!-Marp Sugar

Only if you can't manage your own choices

It's a much better system than if you had to key-bind a spell to one particular hand and the same one to the other hand...

Isnt this a planned character thread?
Even then, isnt this counting your chickens before they hatch?
By that I mean, isnt it a little wierd to plan your character before you play the game?

Yeah, I guess it's a little weird, but I mainly do it to get even more excited. I'm sure I'll be making changes, but this is fun! I put all the skill perks I'm pumped about.

Not really, do you plan a trip to a foreign country without an idea on what you're going to do there?
Or in gamer terms, why would you buy a game if you didn't have at least some idea on what/how you want to play?

Still further, there are quite a few RPers that have characters that span from previous TES games (whether it be some odd ageless cop-out or a descendant)

It beats the alternative of having a "I can't wait to do X" thread every millisecond

Breton male who I'll try to make as similar as possible to my idea of Young Griff from a Song of Ice and Fire (I kept this name in order to avoid spoilers for the book), and naturally his name is going to be the same as the character from the book (the real name). I'll be mainly using a sword in the left hand (I'm a lefty and finally I can make my dream come true! :D) and a spell/an other sword in the right. This character is going to be a jack-of-all, so I'll be investing perks in all three types of skills, mainly in One-handed, Destruction and Light armour. I already have 46 perks out of 50 planned out. And since I mean the get over level 50, I'll be using all of the skills. The moment One-handed and Light armour get to 100 I'll switch to Heavy armour and Two-handed and that's when I'll start with the Companions. I'm not doing the Thieves Guild until I have Sneak, Pickpocket and Lockpicking at at least 50. Same thing with the DB plus Archery, always at 50. My first guild is going to be the College, but not before I get to level 10. Before that... It's going to be lots of exploring! I plan on finding all of the 13 Standing Stones in that time and (possibly) all of the dungeons. But that's going to be hard, since I remember still finding new dungeons in Oblivion after over 100 hours. But hey, I have to have something to do in order to level up, right? Maybe some of the Main quests.

Second character is going to be Nord male, named Eddard Stark (love those books). Two-handed, Heavy armour, Archer, Smithing, Enchanting. With him I'll only do the Companions and the Main quest. The latter because he's a Nord, and I want to see how it goes using one.

Third a Breton female, Daenerys Targaryen. Mage type, only do the College.

Still thinking about the stealthy type character.

Ok been thinking since I make armor in real life I want to utilize this skill in Tamriel when I go there on Friday...

Meet: Volundr FyreHammr

Volundr is Old norse for Weylend, who was a smith in old english lore.
Hammr is the Norse word for "hammer"
I thought spelling fire like "Fyre" just looked cool. Also fire is a blacksmiths main tool. Ill probably enchant my two-handed warhammer with fire as well.

Im debating whether I should play as Redguard or Nord. Adrenaline Rush was pretty handy in a jam on my first playthrough in oblivion, and i loved not having to worry about diseases.
Yet, a nord would be true to the setting of the game, and plus that ice spell was pretty handy in a jam as well. Other than that i cant give any advantages of a nord based off of oblivion.

What do you guys think?

Arthos, the ranger. He'll be a continuation from Oblivion via reincarnation. So his race will change, and probably his name. I don't know if he'll reincarnate as an Imperial or Dark Elf yet.

He'll be born in Rifton, which borders with Cyrodiil and Morrowind. Which would mean with the race I'll select, his parents were probably immigrants. They'll have died from a bandit attack on the roads near Cyrodiil, since there will probably be tensions between the two provinces now I'm sure. This'll have happened when Arthos is coming of age, his father will have taught him some of how to hunt, so he'll have had some knowledge that will allow him to use. So from then, to now he'll have lived off the back of the more dangerous land of Skyrim; figuring in the meshing creatures from the bordering provinces and the wild bandits and marauders.

He'll be about 24 or 25 when the game starts. I don't know if we start in prison or not. If we do, then he'll have accidentally killed a guard in a bandit skirmish and was imprisoned for it. If not, depending on the scenario, he could have wandered to the starting location, or heard a rumor that drew him to it, or was searching for larger prey. I figure he'll be a Neutral Good character, which means he won't be above taking cash rewards, or suggesting them as payments. He has to live of course.

I'll have his own "side-quests", basically recovering his old Elven Blade, Eshkar. And him making his own Ebony Bow, not sure what name it will inherit...I kinda want it to be off of a legendary bow used by a god or something; can't find any on this though.

My detailed plan so far.

Oh, one still.

Race: Imperial

Name: not decided yet. Imperial names sound stupid, I need to come up with something

Would-be-class: knight/sellsword/mercenary

Description: a long-haired knight who is all that's left of his former army. Grim and Gloomy. Now serves the highest bidder. Doesn't fear to use his sword, which is something of very high quality (when he gets such a sword). Will probably enlist for the Imperial Army.

Skills:

One-Handed, Heavy Armor, Block, Lockpicking, Speech (could add enchanting or smithing)

My first character is always 'the good guy'. I try to complete every quest, and obtain every single unique item. I love decking out my houses with all of my fat loot 8) MAN I hope they have player housing again.

He's usually totes heavy armor with a 1h / shield. A bow for long ranged attacks.

As far as race, i'm not too sure yet. I usually only play human-like races in video games, so I'll probably go with Imperial or Breton. But since it's Skryim, i'm seriously considering Nord.
