Re: Favourite Race
Odd double post much?
Looking at the numbers, it's pretty clear Bretons have nothing on Dunmer, in fact, they aren't even out in front of the other races. Not sure where you're going with the above ...

Re: Favourite Race
What race would you choose if you wanted a pure mage? Breton or Altmer.
I'm just trying to say that culture has a less of an effect than stats. Or maybe I'm confused and am dumb.

Re: Favourite Race
I'd never choose a Breton over an Altmer. Maybe for some people stats are more important, I won't deny that, but the numbers on the poll don't support that assertion, although I must say that the Dunmer do have some nice well-rounded stats.

Yeah, I always prefered Dunmer in Morrowind, but not in Oblivion, if only because Bethy did such a brilliant job fleshing out their culture.

Re: Favourite Race
Is there a reason that Bosmer are not favorable(except for their annoying voice and flat face)? I would like to know. And the names the game creators came up with for the Dunmer, man, they are awesome. Llandras Belaal? Really cool. Benudni Ilurnubishpal? How do they even come up with these? Anyone know why Orcs are not favored so much either?

Re: Favourite Race
Bosmer are midgets and sound constipated. Though I think their skill bonuses are good. Orcs just seem like generic ugly fantasy characters, they don't really excel in one field, idk. I've never played either. Or a Khajiit for that matter.

Re: Favourite Race
Not all Bosmers are midgets(Galbedir might be taller than your character
). I already said that they sound annoying. Every race seem like generic ugly fantasy characters(except for the Dunmer, Altmer, and the beast races), and Orcs really excel at physical defense.

You can say that again, heavens above how annoying Gaenor is. The nerve, "down on his luck" sure, he's got 770 Luck

Re: Favourite Race
I always sort of liked the Bosmer, if only because they were so short. To me it can be just as fun to be a tiny little slender out-of-the-way guy as it can to be a big tall mass of muscle and grunts. (Not that there isn't any grey area)

Gaenor is an effective training dummy, when not in Ebony Armour. If you want to train Unarmoured, you can engage him in combat and let him keep on punching you while you drink fatigue potions.

Re: Favourite Race
I still wouldn't touch the little man, he's just evil. Evil I tell you. In all seriousness, that sounds like a pretty good idea. But like mama always said, it's best if you don't talk to strangers Bosmer who demand money.
Just on a little bit of a tangent, I find that damaging the little fellow's Luck is one of the the best ways to deal with him, but I do feel we're offtopic, so I'll cease this line of questioning

Re: Favourite Race
he has ebony armor? anyone tried damaging his str and just pelt him with ranged attacks?
yeah, going slightly off-topic
If there were more enemies that actually use frost, Nord would be a best for me. The shock resistance is great too, since ash creatures tend to use it a lot
bretons with 50% magica resist and +0.5 magica are one of my best, though they are a very bad combination with atronauch
I usually play dunmer just becuse i feel the nerevarine should at least have a nodding acknowledgement to the race, and the 75% fire resistant is a nice bonus. Since later on i usually enchant a weapon with a cast on self on strike dodge bonus (forgot the name of the bonus for a sec), the ancestor guardian becomes a little useless later on, but is great to start with. The 5pts relation bonus with native dunmer doesnt hurt either since they are one hostile bunch
my other fun character (notice, not good) is an altmer. You just got to work A LOT to avoid getting hit by a spell, which makes fighting daedra an adventure. I plan to invest in reflect quality for that one. Also, you start out physically weak.... its one of my favorites because its fun to play, not because its easy

I don't like beast races, it's not like I hate them but Idk, I'm not a fan of them :O! Argonians and Khajits are just... easy going. I can't imagine them creating armies and conquering, they are too funnyFarlace wrote:This forum needs more Argonian support![]()

Re: Favourite Race
Oh no, i can definately imagine khajit flying into a rage. Like many easygoing people they are merciless when riled. Got to think of them as cats deep down. Playing, relaxing, enjoying the better things in life... But when they get to fighting they'll use any trick they have... etc
pet peeve of mine: no such thing as a fair fight: if you fight by someone else's rules, that person is usually at an advantage. Make your own rules, break your own rules. Its like a boxer complaining when someone kicks him. if it was only about punches he would have a clear advantage, so it wouldnt be a fair fight. Or a kickboxer complaining about a chokehold
but beast races are limited with boots and helmets, not my favorite races then

Re: Favourite Race
Mhmm. I was deeply saddened with the loss of boots and closed helmets(I can still wear the glass helm, which is awesome). I wanted a pair of enchanted boots(A lot of different pairs, such as the Boots of Blinding Speed(combined with the Cuirass of the Saviour's Hide), or the Boots of the Apostle.

The real disadvantage of the Beast Races, as has already been mentioned, is their inability to wear boots, and additionally, closed helms. I say Boots primarily, because not only do you loose an enchantment slot and a small piece of your armour rating, but you cannot avoid levelling up Unarmoured, which can funnel Beast Races into specific areas.

I am aware, which is why I'm talking about Boots:
Regardless, the problem with this (even if they can wear the best Light Armour), is that Beast Races are funnelled towards a specific build, something no other race is done to the same extent.

Re: Favourite Race
From a power gamer point of view (and I'm an incurable power gamer) I'd say Altmer. All the other racial abilities can be replaced with spells, but casting fortfify magicka spells and then drink restore magicka potions every time you want to cast a really powerful spell - that's just annoying.
From an aesthetic point of view I'll go with the female Khajiit. Cats are cute. Also they don't have any underwear.
