Very dissapointed
I just watched some of the live stream leaks of skyrim ... and I have but one thing to say. I'm really dissapointed in the grapichs and animations. Feels very very much like oblivion. And the game lags abit to much, the textures are popping in and the grass distance seems short. The hype was to big. Just to let you guys know, Don't be to hyped about the game.

Yet you haven't played the game.
Good lord we're getting these threads before the game is even out by people who haven't played it.

Ahh no....my dreams of going through another Elder Scrolls saga have been shattered.....Pff when Gothic 3 came out it was, from an optimization standpoint,a piece of horse [&@%!] and that didn't stop me from playing it.
I've been a fan of TES since '97 so the [&@%!] grass won't stop me from playing it my friend

You have to consider the console/PC the streaming was from, and the quality of the video.Mackollas wrote:I just watched some of the live stream leaks of skyrim ... and I have but one thing to say. And the fact that smart streamers always notch the graphics down as a high quality stream eats up the CPU of even an 8 threaded i7. Re: Very dissapointed
Perhaps the leakers don't use the best graphics. It just isn't worth to say anything like that before you can try the game yourself with your own platform and the settings that are available. And graphics are not really that important if other areas of the game are great. I wouldn't buy a game for graphics.

Re: Very dissapointed
Wait till you see the game on your Screen. And if you are a pc user there will be for sure graphic and maybe even animation updates.
@Mefris: it is nice to know that there are some people here which know the gothic series, although the best one where 2 and 1

I seriously doubt they are doing anything more to the game now. Several gameshops have already got the games to sell.^Very correct. The end line is that we don't even have the finished product in our hands so we don't know its capabilities and it's shortcomings
Seems like not all the dunmers will have that raspy voice either. Heard a dunmer in the leak with a ''normal'' voice.

Re: Very dissapointed
Trust me on this:
Those who have been spending largest amounts of time in the Skyrim Section, will be the most dissappointed in the game. The same thing happened to Oblivion. The biggest Morrowhiners, were the biggest fans tracking the pre-release of Oblivion.
No game will ever live up to the hype. The only way to not be dissapointed, is to not anticipate the game, and to not follow the hype.

This is exactly why I've not been following any threads with a hint of spoilers or leaked images or footage.

Re: Very dissapointed
How could anyone not know of the Gothic series? For a few years it was the only true rival of TES.Both brought similar and diffrent things to the rpg table.I remember a quote from romanian gaming magazin that did a comparison of Gothic 3 and Oblivion..."Much can be said on the two games but on a graphics level we can see a big difference between the two.Oblivion's graphics can't be matched, thats for sure.Everything in Cyrodil is brought to us in the most beautiful way possible,be it a deer,a castel or a piece of fresh dung on the road.Thats the problem for me.Dirt is supposed to be dirt not a pretty flower on a canvas.Gothic brings us dirt like it's supposed to be.Dirty!"Trelares wrote:@Mefris: it is nice to know that there are some people here which know the gothic series, although the best one where 2 and 1.
We can not rely on some videos to show us how the finished product will be.We just have to wait and see.Skyrim is just over the horizon.

Re: Very dissapointed
Very true.I have been mildly let down by Oblivion but the story was excelent overall.Thats the main reason I play videogames.Everything beside the story for me is just a bonus. The graphics and the over hype be damned!Jeff wrote:Trust me on this:

Re: Very dissapointed
Seriously, it's not the graphics that will set this game apart from Oblivion - it's the level of detail. The atmosphere. The feeling.
Anyone who whines about how disappointed they are of a game after watching a few crappy streams... I'm not even gonna finish that sentence.

Re: Very dissapointed
I'm no expert on this stuff, and I have not seen the leaks either, but isn't it possible that the leak was from an unfinished version of the game? I mean, as bad as you make it out to be, everything in the trailers and demos was great.

I don't know for certain, but Todd already said the graphics won't be the main goal for them.

As long as the people don't look like chubby cheeked five year olds it's all good in my books. Anyway, I have a problem looking at 'amazing' graphics, half the time everything just looks overly shiny and fake.
As long as the story is good, the dragons move about the world without smashing into towers every five seconds, and there are plenty of places to explore with quests to complete, then I couldn't give a rats behind that the graphics isn't the best people have ever seen.

Re: Very dissapointed
This has already been mentioned a couple times, but that's not gonna stop me mentioning it as well!
Being dissapointed by a videogame's gameplay only having seen it in videos, is the same as being dissapointed by the story of a movie by watching an action trailer for that movie. If you're not playing the game yourself, you have no clue as to how you will react when you are playing the game yourself.
Anyway, what where you expecting?
The animations have been improved a great deal since Oblivion (not that that is saying much...)
A Dunmer is allowed to have a "normal" voice because not every Dunmer is the same person. there are all kinds of reasons why a Dunmer might not have a raspy voice, raging about that is... Well it's just plain silly.
Graphics? Not only has the graphics been updated quite a bit since Oblivion. But they don't really matter anyway, do they? Minecraft is proof of the fact that gameplay is way more important than fancy graphics.
Seeing something in a live stream that you don't like is probably your fault for having too high expectations / the stream is probably not representative of the quality of the final product since it is well known that even an awesome computer will have a hard time streaming top quality graphics, which means some corners have to be cut.
Don't ever expect a videogame from any series to be the second coming of the messiah.
The glowing previews that have already been released are more or less proof that the game will be solid.

You raise what could have been a valiant point very badly. 'Dont be too hyped...' I'm personally offended. You want to raise an opinion, fine, but do NOT attempt to talk down to us.
