I know this question is asking a lot, escpecially before the game is even out, but if you have any info, i'd appreciate it.
Okay, so the question. Todd Howard said a couple of months ago that dragons don't instantly start to appear, and that you have to play into the main quest a little in order for them to start to appear.
How long, if anyone knows or has any info (probably not) into the main quest until the "random encounters" (unscripted encounters) with dragons start to happen?
i don't want to play the main quest at first, but i want a random dragon battle to occur every once in a while, while i'm exploring, etc, so again... how long?
i know this is kind of a hard question to answer, i just want to get to that part in the main quest before i do anything else, just to have a more worthwile experience exploring.
any help at all would be appreciated (though not expected).

Re: Main Quest question (sort of)
If I ware a betting man I'd say you get a quest to kill your first, specific dragon. After it's dead the random dragons get unlocked.
This is usually the way that open-world games unlock side-quests.

Hey everyone, I'd like to remind you that we're all new members at some point, and not everyone knows how to use tags right from the get go. Please show your fellow members some consideration and patiently show them how to use the spoiler tags next time. Being rude or impatient toward other members is not tolerated!

Re: Main Quest question (MAJOR SPOILERS!!!)
I honestly should have been clear that i didn't want any specific spoilers, so it's more of my fault than his.
But now we can move forward.
Does anyone else have anymore insight? Is there a quote or something i can go off of? I mainly just wanna know how long it's gonna take.
