I'm a Breton for sure. Not only are they the most physically like me from default, but their characteristics also. I'm smart and wish to pursue knowledge in many areas, even if it isn't the "norm." They also aren't very religious, so~ (:

I didn't put one in originally because it's more of a personal thing, rather than something that is relevant to a poll (not trying to see which race is more popular, but to reflect on which qualities you as a person might have, and which race they correlate with), but I can add one if it is desired.

I think that I would be Dunmer, I don't make friends easily in realife, I look down on and distrust most people.

How can an Altmer be likeable? Except for their stats.

I wouldn't be an Altmer, because I consider myself generous, and my facial complexion doesn't really form an Altmer face. Or maybe it does. I'm not an Argonian, because I don't have poison and disease resistance I can't swim that well, I'm not a Bosmer because my face definitely does not look like a Bosmer face, I'm not a Breton, although I am proficient at abstract thinking(maybe not), I'm not an Imperial, because I'm not that likeable and persuasive, I'm not a Khajiit, because I don't have a love for candy(moon sugar) and I can't jump high, (who's face looks like a Khajiit's?), I'm not a Nord, I don't blindly rush into things, I usually think it out, I'm not an Orc, I don't have courage(not much), I don't have good combat skills, I'm not a Redguard, I'm not African-American, and I'm not average.

Well, you said that you look like an Altmer, and have the personality of an Imperial. See, you are Altmer-ish and Imperial-ish. How can an Altmer be likeable?

Imperial by look, Redguard by soul (self-independent, adventurous, fit for the military...).

Easily, the Altmer aren't so stuck-up and snobbish that they are evil, in fact they get an unfair wrap as such.

OblivionDuruza, remember Altmers from Morrowind? And even some from Oblivion? Come on, don't lie to yourself :P. They look upon others from above, especially non-elves.

You want bad, look at the Ayleids, slavery and subjugation of entire races. Honestly, very few Altmer have made derogatory comments about me, and in fact in Oblivion, I found Orcs much more offensive. I'm not saying that the Altmer don't see themselves as better than other races, or that they are pure and good, but I don't think they deserve the wrap they get, when there are plenty of other races that are far worse.

Alright, I agree that the Ayleids are... ugh, but it isn't about derogatory comments in Oblivion, is it? Orcs kinda get a bad wrap, too, being naturally "green" and "ugly" and "insulting". But they also have good traits among them. Altmer do have good traits, but - Wait, what are the far worse races? You have convinced me that Altmer are less snobbish than I thought, but I still think that they are a bit haughty.

Here's what I don't get: Why do Dunmer get a better wrap than Altmer?

I agree with both of you but to be truthful I always felt (except for some cases) that Altmer just look at others from above. It is not the same look you get from some Dnmers in Morrowind who basically tell you "Leave our island, foreigner" (which is somehow understandable...) but it is more like "Oh I didn't notice you creature, how would like to waste my precious time?"... They are very proud of being Altmer but they are also snobbish and ignorant of others. They are obsessed with the ideal of perfect (Altmer) hierarchical society. Again, obviously not all Altmer are this way but the MAJORITY of them. One interesting fact is that this way of creating homogenous perfectness turned against them; Summerset Isle is torn by kind of a civil war since longer time where one Altmer didn't agree with other, especially younger Altmer push for social changes now.

Personally I see myself as a Direnni-Altmer they are very cultured and political but not as austere as the other Altmer. This reminds me of my family and Italians in general.
