The "Dovahkiin Armor"
A few questions about it.
1. Do you actually get to wear it?
2. If so, when do you actually get the armor in the game?
3. Do you have to wear it?
Thanks in advance

Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
1. Of course.
2. Most likely near the beginning of the main questline.
3. Why would they make us do that?

Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
In the trailers and demos.
I think it's just regular armor you can get anywhere.
Will we be able to wear it? Of course! We can wear whatever we want, assuming of course the clothes aren't on an essential character.
Will we be forced to wear it? We weren't forced to wear the Imperial Guard Armor in Oblivion and the posterboy for Oblivion had Imperial Guard Armor.

Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
I can't pull up a link to supprt this, but I'm certain I remember reading/hearing somewhere that it's Skyrim's version of iron armour.
To me that's a good thing, if iron armour looks that epic, imagine what the higher tier armours lok like.

Or it could be bad in the reverse orderthe lower tier is epic, but higher tier looks crap. Though i am not afraid of this just saying its like its not possible.Incurable Pessimist wrote:I can't pull up a link to supprt this, but I'm certain I remember reading/hearing somewhere that it's Skyrim's version of iron armour.

Ok, that's cool. I just thought it was special because that's the only armor i've seen used in videos.Incurable Pessimist wrote:I can't pull up a link to supprt this, but I'm certain I remember reading/hearing somewhere that it's Skyrim's version of iron armour.

Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
1. Yes, definitely.
2. You will probably be able to get it really early on, it's just (one of the types of) Iron Armour.
3. No, there are already screenshots/video footage depicting the player wearing different things.

Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
I f the avatar item name is right, its just iron armor.so it will probably be a very common piece of armor.

Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
Well, given the mass amount of information uncovered recently, to answer your questions:777 wrote:A few questions about it.
1. Do you actually get to wear it?
2. If so, when do you actually get the armor in the game?
3. Do you have to wear it?

1: Yes
2: Very early on, close to the first town you reach, you can kill (what appear to be) bandits that wear this gear.
3: No, it's the Elder Scrolls - Dovahkiin (not even called that, iron maybe...) is just one of the sets, like 'Iron' in Oblivion.
What I find rather amusing is the amount of publicity this 'look' has gotten. While all the trailers, official footage, advertisements and so on have definitely linked that overall appearance with the character 'Dovahkiin', it's a false impression - because while playing the game you will regularly see 'Dovahkiin' lookalikes attacking you in the wild, hanging around in towns or sitting on chairs throughout the game, whereas your 'avatar' will probably progress past that set very early in the game.
Maybe it's to give people who're still wearing 'Iron' at level 70 a fun excuse

That never dawned on me. It will be so strange, getting robbed by a group of "Dovahkiins"...Pobatti wrote:What I find rather amusing is the amount of publicity this 'look' has gotten. Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
I thought that was iron armour? And the helmet a horned iron helmet variant? Something tells me thats what it is, maybe i heard it on one of the vids.

Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
The different depictions have some variation, but the base consistently seems to be Hide Armor with some kind of horned leather helm and a Steel Sword. The boots are unknown so far, sometimes he's shown with bracers, and sometimes with a shield.

Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
I would have to agree with you there. The Hide Armor image you linked to does look exactly like the armor he wears in all the promotional images and footage. I originally thought promo-Dovahkiin wears a complete Iron set, but from the images I've seen of the Iron gear in the Skyrim Image Encyclopaedia, yours is a much better match.enyamerT wrote:The different depictions have some variation, but the base consistently seems to be Hide Armor with some kind of horned leather helm and a Steel Sword. Maybe we can use the images in that thread to do a bit of detective work for the rest of his outfit

Re: The "Dovahkiin Armor"
And a year from now people are going to rifle through their old issue of PC Gamer and the like, then mutter "Wow, that guy is wearing some crummy Level 1 gear..."
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

That's a good point.Dark Spark wrote:And a year from now people are going to rifle through their old issue of PC Gamer and the like, then mutter "Wow, that guy is wearing some crummy Level 1 gear..."
I've seen people refer to the Oblivion trailers that feature a guy in iron armour, I've seen that trailer loads of times - and never once had it actually occurred to me that the guy was supposed to be the player. I always thought he was just some Imperial Guard (since they do have a heavy presence in the game). The Dovahkiin trailers and promotions are much more clear on this, so yes - once we've all become accustomed to Skyrim's various armours it will look rather silly.
Especially when our own character has been running around for 200 hours in full Dragon
