Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
As much as the idea of lounging on my couch and playing Skyrim on our HD TV appeals to me, I prefer having one multimedia station for everything. While my usage of mods is minimal and mostly limited to little fixes and adjustments I still love them to bits. I'm getting it for the PC, no doubt.

PS3, my computer just isn't very good for gaming and I don't have the money to upgrade or buy a new one right now. Although if I could I would go with the pc, because of mods and little things that might need fixing, also I prefer to play in first person view with mouse and keyboard.

I not sure where you got that info, but it's almost certainly not true. Todd has never said such a thing, in fact he stated along the lines of, obviously the PC version will look best by far.m0nkeydluffy wrote:Im going ps3 due to howqrd statin the pc and ps3 are almost identical graphically, 360 has been rewritten or compressed to fit om 1 disk...not.gonna bother with PC as mines crap and can barely run the sims, plus I cant stand using mouse n keyboard these days, would rather sit back infront of tv and play on that....that way my lass can go on pc and watch stuff while she gets ignored due to me immersing myself in the world of skyrim
I don't know why people think that the 360 version will look inferior to the PS3 version, it's highly unusual for a multiplatform game to look noticeably different on either console. PS3 exclusives often look amazing for console games (Uncharted 2, GOW3), but multiplatform are usually identical these days.
Anyways, the PC version all the way, if you can run it. Some of the Oblivion mods are a little bit dodgy, but there are some truly stellar quest mods available such as Servant of the Dawn, the Lost Spires, Kvatch Rebuilt, the Heart of the Dead and tonnes more. Some of these are up there with the best that Bethesda has done too.

I bought a new PC in March in the fervent hope that it'll run Skyrim at full settings without the threat of melting down the processors.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
Yeah, I will be going Xbox 360. The reasons include:
The fact that I don't have a gaming-worthy computer,
The PS3 controller feels so dinky, and the Xbox controller's sticks and triggers feel nicer.
I have a lot of friends on Xbox, as well as a mic, so I will be talking to friends when I play Skyrim. On PS3, my friends list is comprised of... Per.
The graphics are literally identical.
My Xbox woes are concluded, as I have invested in a new 360s with the Valhalla motherboard.
Achievements make a nicer sound when they pop up than trophies.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
I think I'll get it for PS3, maybe PC a while later- since
a. The PC is shared, so I won't be able to play Skyrim whenever I like
b. Whenever I play a Beth game on PC, I always end up cheating with the console in the end, I don't want that to happen.
c. Would like to see the game on a larger screen. Get a real feel for the epicness.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
I got it from a Todd interview I found on internets at work, apparently there isnt too much difference between ps3 and pc version graphics wise unless obviously your PC is like Thor!, the xbox version he stated had to be writted a bit different in order to fit it on 1 disk rather than compressing it. To be honest ive seen the 360 video footage and its only things like ripples in water that you can tell difference but even then its only close up...still looks immense on there. Im favouring the PS3 due to my refusal to buy an xbox mainly down to the fact I would never get any gaming done as if I start talking through games I lose concentration and then stop playing and just talk and unwilling to upgrade my PC that much as I would rather play on console.martez87 wrote:I not sure where you got that info, but it's almost certainly not true. Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
Lol its not console wars, I was just relaying back what people at Bethesda had said. End of day it looks immense across all platforms and I myself couldnt see any difference at all. Im still goin with ps3 version due to refusing to buy xbox and not because I think its rubbish its because I cant afford another console and plus wouldnt get any gaming done as I hate talking to people when I play as I cant focus and then just stop playing and keep talking....and not spending money on doin me pc up,just got flat with my lass so cant afford to however I am saving up for mew laptop but cant afford till next year

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
I was planning on getting this for XBOX 360 but now after reading through this, I might get it for PS3. I don't care about getting DLC earlier (There is plenty of time for that.) Are the ps3 graphics going to be better? This is backwards to me because in all sports games, the xbox is better graphically.
Any more help on the subject would be welcomed.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
Well here's what I did: Built a $1100 computer & preordered Skyrim on Steam. This way I'll be able to have it preloaded, and play it on max as soon as possible. Hopefully midnight but I don't know when Steam will unlock it.
No way I'm going to waste my time getting an Xbox again (had it for 3 years, terrible console), and while I'll probably buy a copy for my PS3 down the road I want my first experience to be on the superior platform.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
I avoid the 360 like the bloody scourge, and my PC is pretty much incapable of running anything that came out past 2002.
So, yeah. PS3.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
I have been reading about the possibility of having mods on the consoles in the future. Does anyone know about this? Would this be possible for the xbox and ps3? I also saw where it is possible now but your console could get banned...not up to date on any of this modding.
Really I am just trying to decide what console to get this for. PC is out because I am not going to spend a ton of money on a good computer.

I just picked out all the parts for my new epic computer. Gonna max the [&@%!] out of Skyrim's graphics. Can't wait to get my hands on it...

Imo pc is the best no matter what all things you can doon console can be done on pc, but only if you can afford the need specs, next best is ps3 if you dont mind waiting for the dlc, with ps3 its higher end graphics, then the xbox but i wont lie its almost equal to the ps3 for me atleast, you get lower graphics but earlier dlcs whichin the long run doesnt matter sense all get the dlcs but not all get the same graphics.

I know the ps3 can if you jailbreak and some other stuff, but risk is high sense your breaking terms of agreement, xbox probably can too. Just not legally/within terms

Ok . Everyone just shut it. We all know the Xbox360 graphics and the PS3 graphics will look almost identical. Who cares if the ps3 has a tiny bit better graphics? Doesnt matter in the long run.

I guarantee that the 360 and PS3 versions will look nearly identical. They are only ever significantly different if the developer screws it up, like Bayonetta for example.

So even if you do get it on the lowly (lol, everyone here is making me feel like I am a loser for playing on Xbox) 360, it will still look 100 times better than Oblivion graphics wise I hope?

I think so. My computer can most likely run Skyrim but to be honest I'd prefer it on the 360.born2beagator wrote:So even if you do get it on the lowly (lol, everyone here is making me feel like I am a loser for playing on Xbox) 360, it will still look 100 times better than Oblivion graphics wise I hope?

I'm the same way. My computer will run Skyrim great, but the 360's just my gaming console of choice. Although, a couple months down the line I can guarantee I'll pick it up for the PC so I can play with mods and such.Arch-Mage Matt wrote:I think so. Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
Since i using a Mac im not going to buy it to PC...
Since i dont fancy Xbox, im going to buy for PS3
BTW about the grafik debat, remember that a bluray disk has capacity up to 120 GB.
I read about a guy from london who sued some advertising company because they advertised a game with PS3 game grafik, and it didn't look as good on the Xbox. As i recall he won the case..
And on Fallout there was also better grafik on the PS3, but you wouldn't notice it if you didn't have them side by side..
