Blood turned off?
Do you think we will be able to turn blood off in Skyrim?

After the fiasco that came with Fallout 3, I believe that we will.

I hope so, along with that weird finishing move thing, both are cool looking for now but at the end of the day will probably bug the hell out of me.

Um I meant the finishers! Not power attacks in general!

Yes that's what I thought you meant.
When I first heard about the addition of marriage and finishing moves I feared the franchise was turning into a Fable clone.

Re: Blood turned off?
Yeah i only played Fable:1 because the others after it looked, to put it bluntly, really bad.
Well thanks for the reassurance guys. (about the blood). I figured they would allow us to turn it off because to be honest some of the finishing moves in the demo looked brutal.
EDIT: ok i was just reading the UESP Skyrim page and on the two-handed attribute list, it says that
????? What does this mean???? Blood is essential????

Re: Blood turned off?
I'm all for allowing customization of the game, especially for kids who have to play the game with their parents around (I sympathize, I remember those days) but something about swinging a gigantic sword at a bear and NOT seeing blood would just feel wrong to me.

Re: Blood turned off?
I wouldn't think so. Bleeding damage will most likely work like poison would in most games, as in your health slowly drains down. If you can turn the blood off in the game, then you will not see people bleeding all over the place... it would be a bit of a pointless option otherwise.RedSithis wrote: EDIT: ok i was just reading the UESP Skyrim page and on the two-handed attribute list, it says that

Two-handed 30 Attacks with battleaxes do extra bleeding damage.

Re: Blood turned off?
I remember older games in which a bleeding variable existed, but the blood wasn't rendered. So, I agree with Dean.Dean wrote:I wouldn't think so. I'm turning finishers off after seeing them all, lol.

Re: Blood turned off?
You make it sound like that is a rare thing. A lot of people don't like blood, even if it is only a game the effects for those sort of things now are almost life like.
I hope when blood does start coming out of people it doesn't explode out in gallons, I remember playing soldier of fortune where everyone seemed to be like a blood pinata. Talk about over the top.

Re: Blood turned off?
I'm thinking that, if for nothing other than lowering system requirements, that you can turn the blood off. I would prefer it if you could turn all the blood off, I'm easily grossed out by blood so... yeah... Hopefully it can be turned off or atleast down, if nothing else just let us turn off the blood on screen effect.
Blood just seems unnecessary to me for a fun game, I don't play games for realism, I play them for the walking cat people that refer to themselves in the third person.

Re: Blood turned off?
I guess it just kind of amazes me that people playing a fantasy game filled with swords and other sharp objects you're using to hack enemies to bits with would be offended by virtual blood. I mean, it's kind of nonsensical. It's not like it's an episode of the Walking Dead.

Re: Blood turned off?
It's not normally about being offended, it's about not liking the sight of it. Fill a screen up with ten ton of the stuff and those people are just not going to feel that comfortable.
I personally don't get phased by blood and guts, but I can see where people are coming from when they say they do.

Re: Blood turned off?
I really hope this game isn't too bloody and gory...
the zombies in Oblivion already grossed me out and they weren't even very realistic looking. If every time we swing a weapon guts and limbs are going to be flying around I'll have to turn it off too (if we get such an option).

Re: Blood turned off?
But the blood is only zeros and ones?! I CAN get grossed out by real blood sometimes, but when it's only a bunch of information jumping around inside a machine, then there's really nothing to be afraid of.
When it comes to RPGfans, they usually like being immersed into the world and the experience. When a game like an ES game almost forces you to take a virtual life at some point, I would find it incredibly immersion breaking that my weapon didn't do any "real" damage. It's like LARPing but you don't have to convince yourself that the opponent you just slew is actually dead, the game does that for you.
Oh well, not everyone likes immersion as much as I do, I guess. Nothing wrong with that.
