Vampires in Skyrim
This topic is not about: "Vampires being comfirmed" or Vampire "yes or no"
This topic is about whethers this time around Vampires will be properly "fleshed" out, and what i mean by that is.
-Will there be well thought out lore behind the vampires in skyrim?,
-will there be quests (Of reasonably high quality) relating to vampires?
-Will the gameplay as a Vampire be fun and unique ( As opposed to feeling like you're playing a -regular character who has white skin red eyes, and takes damage in the sunlight).
-How will people react to vampires?
-will it be natural (Some people instantly disgusted, other intrigued?)
-Will there be vampire clans(Or a sense of not being the ONLY vampire in the region)?.
I would really love to see all these sorts of things implemented as well as many others, I feel very much that the lack of werewolves in skyrim should mean that Vampires will be done to a high standard ( Unlike what happened in oblivion, where they were maby 1hr's worth of gameplay on the side).
So finally what are you're thought on these points, and any other of similar nature that you can think of. Will Vampires in Skyrim be more than a "gimic"?
essentially How well do you think skyrim will make vampires?

Re: Vampires in Skyrim
Vampires in Skyrim are a sorta heat-sucking ice-creature. That much is confirmed via Oblivion's books.
Nevermind me. I'm simply a mutual friend.
Re: Vampires in Skyrim
Thats sounds cool, that's assuming they don't flag the unique type of skyrim vampire, and just stick in a newish oblivion one : /Commander Xillian wrote:Vampires in Skyrim are a sorta heat-sucking ice-creature. That much is confirmed via Oblivion's books.

I hope that they do it like they did in Morrowind or Daggerfall. Becoming a vampire in Daggerfall was serious business; it basically started you all anew.
And in Daggerfall, at least they had some decent quests. Oblivion's vampirism was a pain.

I never got to play daggerfall, but yeah starting anew would be a very good approach imoUnionhack wrote:I hope that they do it like they did in Morrowind or Daggerfall. Becoming a vampire in Daggerfall was serious business; it basically started you all anew.

I never got turned into a vamp on Daggerfall, but I do believe that you basically die and awaken, your guild relations, renown, etc completely erased, because everyone thought you were dead.Osiris wrote:I never got to play daggerfall, but yeah starting anew would be a very good approach imoUnionhack wrote:I hope that they do it like they did in Morrowind or Daggerfall. That actually sounds awesome, the concept of starting again is wicked. I mean perhaps it's not everyones peice of cake but it's pretty cool

Re: Vampires in Skyrim
I will continue to not be interested in vampires as long as the only way of feeding is to feed on a sleeping person. Lame.
I mean, where's the thrill of the hunt?
I want to be able to
1. Feed on a paralyzed or otherwise immobile, yet still alive person (be it via damage speed, paralyze, or damage fatigue)... I think it would be awesome to have cattle (prisoners, in other words)
2. Feed on a fresh kill
3. Feed on someone as a finishing move, as in, I could finish them off with my sword, but instead push them down and go to town on their neck.
Vampirism = Lame (for now...)

Re: Vampires in Skyrim
I believe I read that there is no more % in vampirism! Since you can't talk to anyone (well with a low speachcraft that is) there must be vampire quest.

Re: Vampires in Skyrim
This just excited me, maybe more than it should have? Idc. I hope that Vampires are better than they were in Oblivion, but even if they aren't, I will still likely have one character dedicated to being a Vampire. :FCommander Xillian wrote:Vampires in Skyrim are a sorta heat-sucking ice-creature. You guys might like to read up on the Volkihar Clan. Hopefully, Bethesda will bring this pre-existing Lore into Skyrim.

I have my doubts too actually, seeing what this game has already done to Lore, but I can still hope

Well considering it's been what 500 years? The clan could have died out by then.

200 Years, and vampires are reknown for their extensive lives. For example the ones in Sundercliff watch were locked in there for eras' were they not?

Re: Vampires in Skyrim
Right 200 >.< and anything can happen. Just look at what happened to the DB in oblivion. Vampire hunters could have got them or something! Though I really do hope there in game.

Re: Vampires in Skyrim
Beth could make this into a nice plot device to allow you to undo your perks and health/stam/magica boost choices. This way you could remake your character to play in a differed way as a vampire. Your former character is not only dead the world but also to yourself, so to speakOsiris wrote:That actually sounds awesome, the concept of starting again is wicked. Re: Vampires in Skyrim
I do like that idea, some sort of Vampire questline would be the only reason I'd play as one. A nice progression of the character, and some sort of Vampire Faction would be nice.
Anyhow, I'm not saying that Bethesda will definitely stick to previous Lore, but I thought I might as well share everything we know about Vampires in Skyrim, with you all.
Except for the fact that Vampires are nigh on immortal? Also, what is this 500 years business? Am I missing something?Ilikeskooma wrote:Well considering it's been what 500 years? The clan could have died out by then.

Re: Vampires in Skyrim
heres something to think about, vampires may still be able to use the carriage system to move around during the day as they're not actually in the sun, so you may still have a viable means of fast travelling as a vampire, cuz im pretty sure i died a few times in oblivion from fast travelling as a vampire, so im also sure a few of you guys have too. just an interesting nugget that popped into mind. In morrowind, in solthestim (spelt wrong i kno rage on), there was those ice things that u needed something special to get into or a special spell, maybe they've redone that type of mechanic for vampires, or should at least, i'd like them to be unique from other races of vampires, because the volhikar (spelt wrong also probably but u know who i mean) have lived there from centuries and had time to adapt and be twisted by the disease, also, with the "become ethereal" shout it implies that they've come up with some cool new spell functions, perhaps skyrim vampires will get a "become phased out" or "astral projection" type power that removes wall clipping so you can move through them?
