Dunmer Hand?
Just looking at the Dunmer facepaint with the hand and the picture of the Dunmer thief wearing armor with a belt that has the exact same hand design got me thinking is this some dunmer faction who knows if anybody has any input I would like to hear what you have to say.
I personally think it might be some type of Dunmer rebel organization?

It's also on the ordinators' shield.
I think it's the crest of the Tribunal/House Indoril.

Re: Dunmer Hand?
I take it you mean the symbol also found on the box art of the GOTY edition? Top left corner.

Considering the symbol on the right stands for the Bloodmoon expansion (obviously) and the Akaviri dragon (at least I think that's what it is) is also found on the box art of vanilla Morrowind, the hand symbol represents the Tribunal expansion and (it wouldn't be a stretch to say) the Tribunal themselves.
Makes me wonder what that symbol is doing in Skyrim 200 years after the Tribunal's death.

Huh yeah interesting maybe the Dunmers in Skyrim are starting some sort of faction and using the tribunal symbol as their logo im thinking they might be some type of secret society of DunmerNarzul wrote:I take it you mean the symbol also found on the box art of the GOTY edition? Top left corner.

One of the Dunmer face models in Morrowind had the Tribunal tattoo as well. Considering how long elves can live, it's entirely possible that the Dunmer with the tribunal tattoos could still be alive. Or maybe they're just keeping the tradition alive. You can probably put this tattoo on your PC Dunmer too.

Since we see these tattoos on the preset characters, I would hope so. Otherwise, that would be false advertising.Knight wrote:One of the Dunmer face models in Morrowind had the Tribunal tattoo as well. Re: Dunmer Hand?

So, it's a possibility, I suppose. But I think the Dark Brotherhood is (regrettably) much more likely.

Re: Dunmer Hand?
That's exactly what I thought but then when i saw the exact same hand that was on the dunmers armor on a dunmers head I kinda started thinkin maybe not and also its crazy that the hand is identical to the tribunal symbol the DB symbol looks like an actual handprintLtGt72 wrote:

Re: Dunmer Hand?
Not really. For one, the symbol belonged to the Tribunal first and the Dark Brotherhood is not a Dunmeri organization. The likelihood of them adopting that symbol is low. For two, the Black Hand symbol in Skyrim looks like this:LtGt72 wrote:

Yes, that's a screenshot from Skyrim. Note how that hand looks nothing like the Tribunal's. And because all good things come in three, the Tribunal hand is available as a facial tattoo for Dunmer characters which eliminates it as an organization-specific symbol.

Except for the fact that the Dark Brotherhood is an offshoot from the Morag Tong, which is in fact a Dunmer organisation.Narzul wrote:the Dark Brotherhood is not a Dunmeri organization

Re: Dunmer Hand?
Yes of course, just pointing out that the DB does have its Dunmer Roots, so it's not inconceivable that they utilise a variant of a Dunmer symbol, even if not for that reason.
I really have no opinion on the matter at the moment, except to hope, yet at the same time doubt, that it is a Dunmer faction related symbol. It's probably just a casual Dunmer tattoo though, no more, no less.
