Spouses and Children

Post by MattFlan »

Hi Guys,

I heard you can have spouses and children in Skyrim.

I think this is great, as I usually role-play stuff like that on Oblivion, Fallout and other games.

If anyone had any extra information they were willing to share ,a link to an interview on this matter, or just wanted to discuss how they're going to roleplay this in Skyrim, that'd be ace.

I can't wait :D

Not sure if you know this, but this is some of the stuff we know so far:
Your wife can cook you food and bring you drinks that give you a small health boost (i think).
She can accompany you on quests and into dungeons!
Can you actually have kids btw? Cause i know that there are kids in the game but i didn't know it was announced that you can have them.
:D
For the glory of the Aldmeri Dominion!

That sure does sound cool, especially the cooking stuff :D

And perhaps I'm mistaken about the children, maybe I'm getting it mixed up with Fable or something :D

Thanks for your reply :)

I'm pretty sure that kids have been confirmed.

Wasn't there a thread about this already? :)

Indeed. But I don't think we can "have" kids, becoming a father/mother.
She used to baby me, I was her baby doll. I used to chase her around, she was my basketball.

there was an interview with the creators of the game and they confirmed that you can get married. They never said anything about kids though. I think they would have said something about it if you could but who knows.

They revealed spouses a while ago.And it is unconfirmed if you can have kids. But there are children in the game.

I wouldint be surprised to see sons/daughters of your own. And to avoid rating issues the screen would just go black, like in fable you would just lead your spouse to a bedside, click on the bed, screen would go black and they would make some cheesey comments, and than blam, your a father/mother!

Husbands? Cool! It would really suck if it were with an NPC, and would be really nice if they made the game 2 player.

Riiiiiight. I read that too. It was in the same article I read Argonian and Khajiit are fun characters to play, and in no way are they the scum of TES.

The whole getting married and having a partner, adds to the game to a certain degree. I think, a move in the right direction. Having kids, not so sure. (insert sims joke here)

I hope it is and isn't this like fable.
I hope they act accordingly to what you do and care if you kill town folk.
But I don't want them to ALWAYS want you around. I'm a adventurer for goodness sakes.

I remain skeptical. Marriage is hard to do correctly. It'll probably be like Fable.

I hope I'm wrong though.

If you can have children, it will probably be only adopted children. Trying to figure out who can breed with what would probably be a bit too much, especially since most of the information on crossbreeds are just theories or lack proof at the moment.

Maybe there's a quest where you save a child from a burning, dragon-scorched town and adopt them, or something? :D

As in, tue child's race follows the mother. There would be a Dunmer child.

If the mother's a Nord, the baby's a Nord. If she's Dunmer, the baby's Dunmer.

I hope the "courting" session isn't "stand in front of interest and perform a bunch of actions to get them to love you" ala the Fable series.

Makes sense that we can't have kids, as it would look ridiculous if a second after conception, the baby's a few months old, and in-game weeks later, the baby's suddenly 8-years-old.
