Dark Souls

Post by NordFtw »

I'm going to buy Dark Souls rather than Pre Order Skyrim.

No, I'm not trolling, I'm not trying to upset anyone or anything like that.
I'm simply more excited for Dark Souls(:

But anyway. Main point of this thread.
Is anyone else getting this?:D

i might get it, i dont see it as a rival to skyrim tho, so dont think you are in danger of trolling

i like the idea of being able to gatecrash someone elses game and mess them up, and the mp should be fun

i havent seen much gameplay that wowed me, but the idea sounds great

do not like the idea of dying a lot tho

It's the whole point.
Yeah, it looks really great. But, between that and TESV and BF3 and KoA:R coming up...
Just can't afford it.

IGN recently did an article (which was revealed to be a total joke, but fanboys ignored this) which basically claimed the Dark Souls was better than Skyrim in every way.
Just in case anyone thought I was trollin.

But anyways.
I had to make the tough choice between Dark Souls, Skyrim and Uncharted 3 x( I'ma get Them in that order.

But Dark Souls gameplay isn't wow as in big set peices and that. What you see is what you get. No QTEs or anything like that.

It revolves around punishing you for carelessness. And then killing you just to be mean.
But it's still brilliant.

i like punishing to careless, but the mean-ness part is something i'd just find annoying, so i think i'm more a skyrim fan lol

but if anyone playing Dark souls could give some good blurb about how they have found the gameplay, i would be very interested

Here's a rundown of the reveiw, short style:

-Gameplay is smooth, and fair. Timing is actually important. The lock on camera is a bit dodgy and can lead to really frustrating deaths like accidently running off a cliff or into another enemy. But mostly it's fine.
-Great Graphics
-LOTS of Variety, not like many RPGs, most enemies are different
-HARD.
-Lots of different weapon types, and classes have few restrictions. Any class can use any weapon, but may be slightly less effective with it.
-The open world is great

Thats about it for gameplay ^_^ Well, the basics anyway.

Hmmmm. I heard that this game was very very hard. From my sources, quite a few controllers and TVs have already been broken due to having personal frustrations with this game.

After playing Demon Souls I can remember quiet a few times I had to just stop and breathe and tell myself it's only a game.
But there were times when I would have smashed more than the controller and TV.
Would have jumped in the car, headed straight to the shopping center down the road and killed many, many people while driving to the EB game shop inside. Just so I could get out, and punch the guy that sold it to me right in the face, right square in the face.

I hope you didn't live through the 80's era of gaming, then. There were so many games about trial and error approaches to dealing with ridiculously stupid things that kill you if you do it wrong.

Played and completed it now :D In my opinion, one of the greatest games i've ever played. The combat is fluid, dynamic and ranges so immensely from quick to slow paced. One minute it's a hack and slash the next it's a matter of patience. The plot was pretty fantastic to be honest and although at times i didn't get it, playing through it a few more times i realise just how amazing this game is.

In all honesty, i would have finished it quicker but i broke my t.v...:/ Yes this game is incredibly frustrating but it's this amount of punshment that gives you the thrill when you finally kill that boss you've been attempting to kill for X amount of hours! Definitely recommend getting his game and DEFINITELY recommend NO CHEATING!!! :D
