I'm thinking of replaying Oblivion, it's been a couple of years and I want to get re-acquainted with TES in time for Skyrim.
But if I'm going to do that, I really need both me and my enemies to do higher damage, because I like my battles quick and dangerous for both sides.
I have tried a mod that increased the damage from weapons to a more realistic figure, but it didn't change how much damage animals/monsters did.
Is it possible to raise how much damage creatures such as clannfears do, and where in the CS do I change this?
Thanks

Re: How to raise damage from creatures AND weapons?
Sounds reasonable ....
But your fighting the game engine there.
You need to increase the strength of the creatures and NPCs to increase the damage from melee.
100 givers an average weapon 20 points of damage. Going as high as 26 for 1 sword and as low as 15 for certain maces.
Increasing a creatures strength should do the same thing.
The CS lists all creatures and NPCs, you need to edit the creatures and NPCs, NOT the level lists. Just look in the Object window near the top to find them. One word of warning, only 1 mod can edit those things at a time, if you edit them all, you cannot use any other mods that also edit them without resorting to tools that merge them and if you do that, most of the time all the tools do is chose 1 mod and use that mods settings so you lose your edits or those of the other mods.
Those tools also lead to lots of crashing, help with mod list threads and demands for mods to be cleaned which leads to even more crashing and suddenly your in a downward spiral to crash city.
So I seriously recommend you either choose an overhaul that does that already OR avoid all overhauls and make your own.
You might find my Cyrodiil Upgrade Overhaul mod fits the bill, since it unlevels everything allowing the difficulty slider to control hit points and still gives you a chance of running in to high level creatures and NPCs that can kill you back. At higher levels you get lots of low level NPCs and creatures compensating for the higher level player stats rather than 1 random low level NPC and very tough high level NPCs appearing to increase the challenge.
Generally though, most things that spawn are + or - 10 levels of the player, but you cannot ever rule out a level 1 or level 50 creature or NPC appearing at any time so it is exciting and it is hard.

Download and install these in this order.
Download Cyrodiil Upgrade Resource Pack V1.4.9
Download Cyrodiil Upgrade Resource Pack All to V2.6 Patch
Then download Giskard's Cyrodiil Upgrade Overhaul V6.7
CURP is used by all my mods so once you have it, you can use any of the others too.

Re: How to raise damage from creatures AND weapons?
Easy.
Gameplay->Settings, then find the following:
-fDamageWeaponMult: controls the damage of weapons. Default is 0.5. Divide new setting by 0.5 to see how many times stronger weapons are (for example, setting this to 1 will make all weapons twice as strong).
-fCreatureCalcDamage: controls creature melee damage. Set to how many times stronger you want creatures to be. Default is 1. Creature damage depends on the creature's damage setting, visible if you open the cretures tab and open up a creature. For level-offset creatures, their damage is half their level plus the damage base listed.
-fHandHealthMax: how much damage hand-to-hand will do at 100 skill and 100 strength at full fatigue. Default is 15.
Other settings:
-iLowLevelNPCMaxLevel: NPCs below this number level are considered "low level" and have less health. Consider setting to 0 to give NPCs a better chance of survival. Default is 4.
-fNPCAttributeHealthMult:Default is 0.5. Gives NPCs more health if raised. Test the effect by opening an NPC's tab, setting their stats to auto'calc, and playing with their level.
Magic and enchantment damage (for weapons and staves) are under spells and enchantments, respectively. There is no game setting controlling magical damage. Individual weapon melee damage can be edited under weapons, and the same for ammo.

Re: How to raise damage from creatures AND weapons?
Would changing the general multipliers in Gameplay -> Settings also be incompatible with overhaul mods? Or is it just changing the individual creature types in Object window that creates a problem? I'm planning on using Francesco's, if possible.
As for not being able to change the damage of magic, that's what Supreme Magicka is for!

I've no idea. I'd imagine that the overhauls would change base weapon damage and creatures, not the settings.

Re: How to raise damage from creatures AND weapons?
Okay.
I read that fCreatureCalcDamage changes the damage that creatures with "level offset" do. Does that mean that this multiplier doesn't apply to creatures with no level offset? Is there no global multiplier for non-offset creature damage?

Re: How to raise damage from creatures AND weapons?
haecceitas is right about the global settings.
Some mods do change them and it is also true that only 1 mod can edit an item at a time. So if haecceitas makes the edit, he will not be able to user other mods that edit the same thing.
But that is his choice to make, still it is wise to make such a decision after being made aware of the problems involved so haecceitas goes in to it with his eyes open.
The next suggestion will be merge files and patches created by tool makers, all I will say to that suggestion is there are 10,000+ threads out there from users who believed that would help solve similar issues and not one of them has any solution that worked in them for long. There are lots of guides on how to make crash free games and none of them works for everybody who followed that advice.
There is only 1 guaranteed method that is proven to work and that is if 2 mods conflict badly, remove 1 and keep the other.
That is what haecceitas will have to do if issues arise, providing he does that, he should be able to solve this problem any way he chooses and enjoy the results.

Re: How to raise damage from creatures AND weapons?
You can do this yourself. In the Construction Set you will see:haecceitas wrote:.... I have tried a mod that increased the damage from weapons to a more realistic figure, but it didn't change how much damage animals/monsters did.

Object Window
+ Actors
+ Creature
If you Double Click on the Creature, you get the Edit Window (or right click, and select edit). You can then change the Attack Damage, or Attack Damage Multiplyer (if it is a leveled creature). You can also make other changes to the creatures attributes and stats. Although, there are quite a few Animals/Creatures, so it may take a while.
If you do this to the Mod that increases damage from weapons, then you know that it will not conflict with that mod.
However, if you are using another mod, or one of the major overhaul mods one, like OOO, or Frans, that may change Animal/Creature Damage, then you might want to do the editing there.
Giskard has some good pointers about mod conflict. This is one of the reasons I only use a few mods, and if I want something changed, I don't find a new one, or make a new one myself. I just edit one that I already have.

Re: How to raise damage from creatures AND weapons?
Then I'll just do my own changes to Francesco's and refrain from using the mod that generally increases damage.
