Which console to use for Skyrim?
I haven't pre-ordered Skyrim yet but I am wondering what you guys think would be best to get it on. I know you can do much more on PC but whenever I end up using the PC for oblivion I don't play the game as much, favouring console commands. But on the other hand, you get much more access to mods and DLC than on an Xbox.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
I always go for PC. I find the keyboard easier to use, there's always the console commands in case I get caught in a game-breaking glitch or bug, and all the mods the Internet has to offer! To be honest, when I played Skyrim at Eurogamer I spent the first five minutes struggling with the Xbox controls, and I still ended up pressing the wrong buttons several times.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
Fair enough I can understand that completely, but do you know anything about the recommended stats for running the thing? I won't pretend my laptop is anything but outdated. I can just about run oblivion with a few other programs without glitches.

I find using xbox controls to be easier than pc controls for most games.

Definitely go for the PC if your computer can play it.
Pro's: Mods, AddOns, Better Graphics, Faster load times, unofficial patches and so on, being able to play with an xbox controller nonetheless (if you have a wired one).

PC, as soon as I've got the money. Saving up.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
Pc has to be the best choice hands down cos of the modding thing, but console wise i would go for 360 simply cos it seems to take longer for dlc and updates to emerge on the PS3 for tes games.. i think if this is not the case with skyrim, ie sony is supported as well as 360, then the ps3 could be the better option, but it's worth looking into
Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
PC is the best for it, if not I would go with ps3.
On PC you soon get a massive database of mods to customize the game how you please. Just try your best to stay away from tesnexus. for every one legitimate mod, there are 3 crappy stupid useless mods where the modder does not bother to learn how to script or create meshes, as well as 3 girly adult mods that 90% of the top mod list is made of.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
Although PCs do have many extra features such as mods and extra add-ons the Xbox does have a few advantages. The Xbox controller (Just IMO) is way easier to use, you don't have to reach your fingers across the keyboard all the time and you really don't have to remember all of the buttons if you consistently use the controller. The only downside to the controller is having to press y to jump although that can be changed. The Xbox will also be getting the DLC earlier, 30 days earlier in fact.
I realize I'll probably be getting flamed for preferring the Xbox to the PC, but I can't afford upgrades all the time. My Mac of four years just died so that doesn't help..

PC is best, hands down. Okay, I guess the console version was always slightly more stable in my opinion, but besides that the PC is the clear winner. Also Imperfect Three, you can use the controller with the PC.

Pretty much this. Would get it on PC, but the economy these days just does not allow for the amount of money I would need to spend upgrading my computer to play a game.Imperfect Three wrote:Although PCs do have many extra features such as mods and extra add-ons the Xbox does have a few advantages. Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
I play on pc but use xbox controls. I would get it on the xbox. The graphics are good and you don't have to worry about performance issues with an outdated laptop. PS3 works too but the DLC comes out a little earlier on xbox and just like the xbox better to be honest (controls and community). Thats not to say the PS3 is bad, its got good parts and bad ones just like the xbox by the way, not trying to start a flame war.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
Although the PC has its pluses, I like the xbox because of the controller as well as the 52" screen that I use. I realize you can do both of these with a PC, but like a couple of other peoople here, I don't have to worry about upgrading every 6 months to a year as well. Just my personal preferance of course.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
PC, definitely. While Skyrim is probably going to be great, you'll need mods to fix silly things like health regeneration (who wants that?!).

I don't know, I kind of liked it when I played it at Eurogamer. It wasn't too slow or too fast.Josjie wrote:PC, definitely. While Skyrim is probably going to be great, you'll need mods to fix silly things like health regeneration (who wants that?!).

If you are going with a console, use the PS3 since it is a superior system. I will be getting it on PS3.

I'll be getting it on Xbox, mainly cos I don't think my laptop could handle it.
Problem being my xbox is broken at the moment. The laser need's cleaning, and those things are NOTORIOUSLY hard to hack your way into

Maybe.. and a big maybe.. I will get it for PC down the track. If I get convinced the mods are worth all the fuss.

Seriously though I'll play on my trusty x-box 360, never has over heated and has never slowed on any game so far.

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
I say PC if your computer can run it .. Much more flexible with mods. Although, Todd was saying how they were going to try and make the mods accessible to console players too. I am getting it for Xbox and have pre-ordered it, but I wanna get a new computer (laptop is good, just not a good enough graphics or video card to run games like Oblivion and Skyrim .. Morrowind runs perfect though thankfully) to play Skyrim on so I can mod it, and even learn how to use The Construction Set and mod it myself. (:

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
I don't have ANY experience using a computer to play games(except for the time I played around on Oblivion for kicks), but I have used both the X-Box & PS3 for gaming, and although I'm more adept at the X-Box, the PS3 seems to stand out a little towards the overall performance, graphics, & format during gameplay. I would use the PS3 just because I didn't want to miss out on the graphics, but I like the X-Box better.
So it's mainly about personal preference...

Re: Which console to use for Skyrim?
Im going ps3 due to howqrd statin the pc and ps3 are almost identical graphically, 360 has been rewritten or compressed to fit om 1 disk...not.gonna bother with PC as mines crap and can barely run the sims, plus I cant stand using mouse n keyboard these days, would rather sit back infront of tv and play on that....that way my lass can go on pc and watch stuff while she gets ignored due to me immersing myself in the world of skyrim
